This and Harland's book on Seamanship are the two I recommend to anyone wanting to understand tall ships。 There are plenty of other good books （including on my shelves） but these two are the biggies。Harland goes into how to operate the ships。 Longridge gets into how to build them。 The fold-out diagrams are quite detailed and enlightening。 The only drawback is that this book is actually designed for the model maker， and so some details （like how cabins were arranged for actual living in） are just This and Harland's book on Seamanship are the two I recommend to anyone wanting to understand tall ships。 There are plenty of other good books （including on my shelves） but these two are the biggies。Harland goes into how to operate the ships。 Longridge gets into how to build them。 The fold-out diagrams are quite detailed and enlightening。 The only drawback is that this book is actually designed for the model maker， and so some details （like how cabins were arranged for actual living in） are just not going to be available， but otherwise you can't find a more meticulous and exacting manual on the details of tall ships themselves。 。。。more
