Summary

"Christ on a bike!" Was I ever glad to finish this book! Unlike the previous novels in this series, this one was wordy, meandering and poorly plotted, with little of the page-turning suspense I've come to expect from Dept。 Q。 Since my husband already bought the next book, I'll read it, in hopes that it's better。 If not, it will definitely be my last。 "Christ on a bike!"

Guess this was sort of a thriller。 Not nearly as good as the first few。 Carl doesn't really do much solving the missing person case。 Everything sort of happens around the team。 He didn't even bring Marco in。 We learn a little more about Assad, but not enough。 Perhaps Hardy will be more involved in future books。 Guess this was sort of a thriller。 Not nearly as good as the first few。 Carl doesn't really do much solving the missing person case。 Everything sort of happens around the team。 He didn't even bring Marco in。 We learn a little more about Assad, but not enough。 Perhaps Hardy will be more involved in future books。 。。。more

More mystery this time as the story plays out, with a much more sympathetic “criminal”

This books shows somewhat a different Carl。 The case is interesting, as it has an international touch to it。

I liked this the best so far in the Dept。 Q series。 Marco’s character compellingly grabbed my interest and sympathy right away, adding a big element to the story beyond the bad guys (and gal)。

One of the best long-form police procedural writers going today, Adler-Olsen's Department Q novels display his touch for plot, humor, tension, and complexity。 Here the usual cast is gathered to solve a couple of disparate cases。 The adventures of young Marco take up most of the book。 His engaging character and lucky star entertain well。Recommended。 One of the best long-form police procedural writers going today, Adler-Olsen's Department Q novels display his touch for plot, humor, tension, and complexity。 Here the usual cast is gathered to solve a couple of disparate cases。 The adventures of young Marco take up most of the book。 His engaging character and lucky star entertain well。Recommended。 。。。more

I was supposed to start reading book 1 a few months ago but I returned it to the library when something I had been waiting for became available。 This time I was looking for an audio book so I started reading book 5。 Since this was a new case for the Q department, I don't think it mattered too much。 This book was slow in the beginning。 I almost gave up at one point。 There were a lot of people to keep track of and when you listen to a book you can't go back and check who is who。 I liked the end of I was supposed to start reading book 1 a few months ago but I returned it to the library when something I had been waiting for became available。 This time I was looking for an audio book so I started reading book 5。 Since this was a new case for the Q department, I don't think it mattered too much。 This book was slow in the beginning。 I almost gave up at one point。 There were a lot of people to keep track of and when you listen to a book you can't go back and check who is who。 I liked the end of the book so I will definitely read book 1 when it's available again。 。。。more

Solid plot but too many stories at once。 Hard to keep track of all the characters throughout。 Not my favorite of the Dept Q series but still enjoyable。

“The Hanging Girl” is the title for English translation。 The master has outdone himself weaving the threads in this story。 I recommend this not be the first book by this author which you read; the plot is complicated and a working knowledge of the main characters is prerequisite。

Sheryl

So easy to read! I love the 3 main characters and how they interact together。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Velskrevet, men historien er lidt irriterende。 Carl Mørck er uprofessionel og nedladende。 Og han gør intet godt for efterforskningen。 Der er simpelthen ikke noget sted, hvor det er ham, der knækker koden。 Det bliver for meget med lejemordere og børnesoldater。 Ro på。 Det kan godt være spændende uden at alle slår hinanden ihjel。 Det, der irriterede mig mest, var da Carl Mørck vælger at slette beviserne på at William Stark har stjålet to millioner。 Wth。 Jaja, hans enke og steddatter er søde og rare Velskrevet, men historien er lidt irriterende。 Carl Mørck er uprofessionel og nedladende。 Og han gør intet godt for efterforskningen。 Der er simpelthen ikke noget sted, hvor det er ham, der knækker koden。 Det bliver for meget med lejemordere og børnesoldater。 Ro på。 Det kan godt være spændende uden at alle slår hinanden ihjel。 Det, der irriterede mig mest, var da Carl Mørck vælger at slette beviserne på at William Stark har stjålet to millioner。 Wth。 Jaja, hans enke og steddatter er søde og rare mennesker, men derfor har han stadig stjålet TO MILLIONER KRONER - enten fra staten eller, værre endnu, ulandshjælp (jeg kan ikke helt huske hvordan det hang sammen)。 Og han har arvet en masse fra sin mor, som de kunne betale tilbage med。 Carl Mørck burde klart blive fyret。Stadig tre stjerner for at være velskrevet。 。。。more

I have no recollection of reading this book。 But I did according to my record。 And I believe I ordered it in 2015, May 26。

I enjoyed this book but it could have been 100 pages shorter and had half a dozen fewer characters。

。。。more

Although I enjoyed this book I felt there was something different about it than the previous novels。 The hero of the story seemed a bit more daft and his assistants were a bit more better at the detecting。 Overall though the book was worth reading。
