Fun fact: I don't think that Grimm's original fairy tales were written for kids, given their disturbing level of gore。 But lucky we, with Walt Disney and people who have decided tp re-write the stories and give them happy endings :) Fun fact: I don't think that Grimm's original fairy tales were written for kids, given their disturbing level of gore。 But lucky we, with Walt Disney and people who have decided tp re-write the stories and give them happy endings :) 。。。more
Amanda,
It is fun to hear the original versions of the stories。 I don’t remember reading them before。
Erin,
PLEASE do not read this whole thing start to finish like a novel。 Big mistake my friend。 It totally ruined it for me。 I hated every second of reading this after the first 5 or so stories (there are 55) because if we’re being honest, they are basically all the same。 There would probably be hoards of people that would gasp in horror at that opinion but they can suck it。 We all know it’s true。 To be clear, the stories aren’t bad! I found it really interesting reading the originals of the stories I knew and a handful of the others had me quite intrigued。 I just wish that I had left it on my shelf to occasionally peruse instead of having it sit on my bedside table glaring at me to finish it in a linear fashion。 So while I had a terrible experience reading most of this, I understand that that is entirely my fault and realistically I know that if I hadn’t been a dumby dumb dumb I would settle at 3 stars。 So there you go。 Also, is it just me or are the stories nowhere near as gruesome as people make them out to be? Like I still wouldn’t read these to children, but mostly because I wouldn’t want them to think that a man can just point at a woman and have her as his wife like a toddler choosing a carnival prize while she gets no say whatsoever, because goddamn we’re there a lot of stories with that exact situation played off as the happy ending for everyone。 。。。more

Jason Pym,
A tiny book with very short (3-5 page) versions of the stories。 There are weird ones you've never heard of, and familiar ones that don't turn out as you expect。 In the Frog Prince, the girl doesn't kiss the frog - the princess marries the frog against her will, then smashes him against the wall in disgust。 It's only then that the frog transforms into royalty。 The queen tries to kill Snow White three times, first with a bodice then a poison comb, before she tries the apple。 I never realised that A tiny book with very short (3-5 page) versions of the stories。 There are weird ones you've never heard of, and familiar ones that don't turn out as you expect。 In the Frog Prince, the girl doesn't kiss the frog - the princess marries the frog against her will, then smashes him against the wall in disgust。 It's only then that the frog transforms into royalty。 The queen tries to kill Snow White three times, first with a bodice then a poison comb, before she tries the apple。 I never realised that Rapunzel was the name of a plant, also called rampion, kind of a radish but used for its leaves which were like spinach apparently。 So 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!' could also be 'radish, radish, let down your hair。。。'The weird ones include those that could turn into an interesting story (like The Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Goose Girl, The Six Swans)。Then there are the really weird ones, like The Straw, the Coal and the Bean, or The Mouse, the Bird, and the Sausage, the moral of which seems to be 'never send a sausage to do a bird's work。' 。。。more
Vivian Lu,
I thought all the stories would be dark, but a lot of them ended up having happy endings。 It wasn’t as dark as I had imagined。 Some stories were way too short。 The full cast audio was fun but this collection isn’t something to binge。 Some of the stories were meh, so it’s difficult to listen to one after another like that。 3/5。
Bryanna,
I was interesting to read a more accurate version of these fairy tales after having grown up with the Disney versions from my childhood。 Interesting take on the tales!
Robert Bussie,
These are not the Disney versions of classic fairy tales。 These are the original unabridged Grimm Brothers fairy tales。 I have read a few of these before so I knew how delightfully dark, violent, and messed up they are。 These stories are supposed to teach lessons, but wow I was surprised with how many evil step mothers there are in these stories。 They get a seriously bad representation。 LOL。The narrators all do a wonderful job engaging the listener。
G。 Lawrence,
Great, so many I hadnt read and so many I had only seen disney versions of。
K。S。 Thompson,
I wanted to love this。 I assumed that I would love it。 I know that I am probably going to get roasted for my opinion。 So be it。I was familiar with many of the tales, as are most people。 But I was led to believe they were much, much darker than they ended up being。 I understand that they are the basis for many of the stories we hold dear to our hearts and respect the place they hold in literary history。 I suppose you could say that I romanticized them to the point that there was never any way the I wanted to love this。 I assumed that I would love it。 I know that I am probably going to get roasted for my opinion。 So be it。I was familiar with many of the tales, as are most people。 But I was led to believe they were much, much darker than they ended up being。 I understand that they are the basis for many of the stories we hold dear to our hearts and respect the place they hold in literary history。 I suppose you could say that I romanticized them to the point that there was never any way they could live up to my expectations。 。。。more

Some stories are just ridiculous。 You should judge the moral actions of the characters in the stories, a lot of them commit murder very casually, don't read these to kids。 Some stories are just ridiculous。 You should judge the moral actions of the characters in the stories, a lot of them commit murder very casually, don't read these to kids。 。。。more

Rumpelstiltskin is my favorite fairy tale of all time。 I remember when I was 6 or 7 my grandma told me about how there we these “real fairy tales with there actually endings” and she told the the one of Cinderella by the Grimm’s Bothers and I knew those are the fairy tales I’m going to remember for the rest of my life。 I’m 19 going on 20 now and I decided I wanted the full collection of these fairy tales and I remember just how wonderfully good they are。 Not fairy tales have happy endings。

Emily,
This was not what I was expecting。 I realize that these fairy tales are not the happy disney ones but people always described them as so much darker and more gory。 I guess I was looking for some very twisted endings。 However, having not read any of them before I was pleasantly surprised by the odd stories。
Grace Ha,
Sách viết về những câu chuyện cổ tích quen thuộc。 Nội dung thì không có gì mới, nhưng sách in font chữ to, hình vẽ rất đẹp, thích hợp đọc hàng đêm cho mấy bạn nhỏ。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I grew up reading Grimm’s fairy tales and revisiting them again as an adult has been insightful。 I was shocked at how ghoulish these children’s stories are: you find a mother who murders her child and lives happily ever after! Yet, the stories were just as entertaining as I remember them from my childhood。

Twenty-one stories from the expansive collection of the complete Grimm's Fairy Tales are narrated by a cast of talented voice actors who bring these stories to life, including well-known tales like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Little Red-Cap (aka Little Red Riding Hood), Little Briar-Rose (aka Sleeping Beauty), Hansel and Gretal, and Little Snow White。 There were plenty of fairy tales in this collection that I was unfamiliar with, such as The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces, The Twelv Twenty-one stories from the expansive collection of the complete Grimm's Fairy Tales are narrated by a cast of talented voice actors who bring these stories to life, including well-known tales like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Little Red-Cap (aka Little Red Riding Hood), Little Briar-Rose (aka Sleeping Beauty), Hansel and Gretal, and Little Snow White。 There were plenty of fairy tales in this collection that I was unfamiliar with, such as The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces, The Twelve Brothers, The Goose-Girl, The Six Swans, and The Elves。 These were the Grimm versions rather than rosy Disney adaptations, which was interesting to compare and contrast。 For example, Cinderella never had a fairy godmother in Grimm's tale; white doves helped her when she prayed to God for help。 And the ending is a lot more grim (pun intended) for her step-sisters: their mom convinces them to chop off parts of their feet to fit in the Cinderella's slipper, but the blood seeping out of the shoe gave them away。 Also, birds pecked their eyes out at Cinderella's wedding。 Not so sure I want to tell Elliot this version for awhile, but it was interesting for sure! I recently listened to some podcasts on the importance of fairy tales in a child's education and how they can point us to the gospel, which I find intriguing, so it was a fun challenge to think about the fairy tales a bit more deeply。 。。。more
