Summary

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive。 And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits。 Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it。

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit。 But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites。 The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other。

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms。 And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts。

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms。

Nesta’s journey was really interesting and I enjoyed the development with Nesta and Cassian。 Only thing I wish could’ve been was more Feyre and how she was feeling during some of the more dramatic parts but other than that pretty good。

Loved There are no words。 Omg。 This book。 Amazing。 From the very first book to this one I couldn’t put it down。 Read all of them in one sitting。 Just extraordinary writing。 The characters and how they grow in front of you is incredible。 Love all her books。 One of my favorite authors of all time。

This is an adult book! Wow!! Can you tell how ADULT this is??” so now she feels like she doesn’t need to hold back or something idk, which I think made her storytelling and writing massively suffer for it to the point where it just felt, ironically, much more juvenile。 I just found myself rolling my eyes so much。 It almost felt like all of these characters I fell in love with were just caricatures of themselves。 Also, side note, why did this feel like it was suddenly a modern fantasy and not an old world vibe fantasy like in was established in the originals? Like what’s up will all the modern terms and things? It felt kinda lazy and I did not vibe with that at all。 This thing really read like a smutty fanfiction of this world and it's characters, or a trashy mass market paperback romance to me。 I didn’t feel like it was even written by the same author。 I was already a little bit hesitant going into this one in the first place because Nesta has never been a character I liked nor cared much for, but I definitely wanted to give her a chance。 She was still irritating as hell to me though, and that was a big thing I couldn’t get past。 Listen I’m happy for the people who like her, but I am not one of them。 Nessian also was definitely not even in the same league as Feysand as a romance。 There was practically no emotional build up and it seemed like they just jumped into shallow sex, without there being any relationship to make me care。 I enjoyed the snippets of an actual plot, nearly non-existent as they were, and they may be what brings me back to try again one day。 But honestly after seeing spoilers, I’m not sure that’s even enough cause I kind of hate it and a lot of it feels recycled。 I’m gonna be honest here, I think SJM just gives us way better stories with the restrictions of the YA genre, and at this point I think that’s what she should probably stick to since clearly her writing is much stronger that way。 If I end up changing my mind and finishing this, and then trying the next book, I’m definitely going into it with the LOWEST of expectations。 Though, the only way I’d even consider giving this spin-off series another full chance is if the next book is about Azriel, but even then I’m terrified about where she’d take it。 Like making Az annoyingly horny all the time or something and just destroying his character for me too。 At least I’ll always have the OG trilogy no matter what happens with this extension trilogy。 I can always simply just pretend these books don’t exist and that it ended with ACOWAR。 Just like I do with any disappointing extension of things I love。 lmaoUgh man, how unfortunate。I have friends and people I follow on here who gave it a high rating too, and I just do not get it。 Like I’m really glad they enjoyed it of course! But being big fans of the original trilogy as well, I just do not understand what they saw that I didn’t。 :(Anyways, maybe I’ll pick this up again one day to finish the last 400ish pages and my feelings will change, maybe not。 Time will tell。 。。。more

I waited 4 years for this installment。 And well, let me just say it was worth the wait。 "But they were both Illyrian, whether Az liked it or not。 And so they did what their people had always done before Death's beautiful face。 They bowed。" This book isn's a masterpiece like ACOMAF (in fact, very few are) but it is still a 5 star read。 After finishing it, as per usual, the urge to reread not only this installment but all the others was huge, which is something that only SJM does to me。 I reread A I waited 4 years for this installment。 And well, let me just say it was worth the wait。 "But they were both Illyrian, whether Az liked it or not。 And so they did what their people had always done before Death's beautiful face。 They bowed。" This book isn's a masterpiece like ACOMAF (in fact, very few are) but it is still a 5 star read。 After finishing it, as per usual, the urge to reread not only this installment but all the others was huge, which is something that only SJM does to me。 I reread ACOMAF once a year and maybe I'll start rereading this one yearly as well。 I've always liked Nesta。 I saw how difficult she was, how she burned on the inside, how she fiercely protected Elain while neglecting Feyre, and I thought: this is a great character。 Complex, definitely flawed, but a great character。 So I was very excited to read ACOSF and Nesta did not disappoint。In the beginning of the book, Nesta has reached rock bottom。 She's practically an alcoholic。 Every single one of her faults has been exacerbated by her trauma, guilt and rage。 So much rage。 Such rage that she can't help but hurt others and then hate herself for it。 But she still clings to it, because rage is better than crying, than crumpling up and dying。 Because hurting others is better than letting herself be hurt。 When she is forced to move to the House of Wind and train with Cassian, the story begins。 This book is much more about her healing, her friendship with Emerie and Gwyn, her love for Cassian and the tentative bonds with the Inner Circle she forms along the way。 It had action and a lot of scheming and Rhys and Feyre's few appearances were delightful。 Cassian and Nesta are evenly matched: they burn burn burn。 His spirit is wild, hers is steel。 The chemistry sizzled。 Nesta's journey is incredible。 As SJM herself said, this book is not about her happy ending, rather a happy beginning。 My top highlights of this book:Gwyn。 Azriel and his friendship with Nesta。 Eris (I honestly hoped we might get more answers about him but apparently not)The whole Valkyrie thing The fact that we finally gained some insight as to why Nesta pushed Feyre away their whole lives。 My criticism is that the action in the end was very rushed and I found myself wanting more details, more pages about this very exciting part of the story。 Also, I think the ending left much of the issues stated in the beginning unresolved, which bothered me because I know it's a tactic to drag the series out。 Why bother with plot if you're just going to circle back around?Still, I am sooo excited for the next book。 Please please please let it be about Azriel and Gwyn。 Hopefully I won't have to wait 4 more years for it。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Heads up this is a long review hopefully I can get most of my points across。。。 but I might have to add some later。Alright。。。 so I feel devastated honestly。 This was my favorite book series and Nesta was my absolute favorite character and I genuinely thought that this book would be my favorite book of all time。。。 but it was shit。That's the kindest way to describe it。 Literally the only reason it gets a star is because of Nesta, Gwyn, Emerie and the house。 That's it。 I cannot believe that Nesta wa Heads up this is a long review hopefully I can get most of my points across。。。 but I might have to add some later。Alright。。。 so I feel devastated honestly。 This was my favorite book series and Nesta was my absolute favorite character and I genuinely thought that this book would be my favorite book of all time。。。 but it was shit。That's the kindest way to describe it。 Literally the only reason it gets a star is because of Nesta, Gwyn, Emerie and the house。 That's it。 I cannot believe that Nesta was treated terribly by the entire inner circle and SHE ENDED UP FORGIVING THEM。 I'M SO PISSED。Even Cassian who I literally loved before this book was to blame。 He literally told her that everyone fucking hates her!!!!!How dare he。 She is struggling from extreme PTSD and depression。 She was turned high fae against her will, had to watch Elain be turned high fae, had to watch her dad's neck get snapped, fucking killed the King of Hybern。。 and instead of being loved and supported by the IC they treat her like trash。 They slut shame her, and gaslight her until she believes everything is her fault。。 。。。and don't even get me started on the fact that Rhys had everyone lying to Feyre that her baby WAS GOING TO KILL HER and then when Nesta tells her the truth (because she was rightfully pissed that the IC was voting about her) RHYS TELLS CASSIAN TO GET HER OUT OF THE CITY OR HE WILL FUCKING KILL HER。 OMG。 I'M ENRAGED。And then when Cassian takes her out of the city he takes her on a hike and essentially lets her waste away, not eating or drinking, until she fucking passes out and then he cares。 AND THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY MATES??? fuck that。 He was a simp for Rhys and the IC。 And honestly the beginning of the book when they literally force her to train with Cassian and stay in the house of wind where she haf no way out or be sent to the mortal lands to die she is told she has a choice? Like no she doesn't have a choice at all。 They pack up her stuff against her will and literally have her building demolished because she isn't falling in line with the IC。 This part gave me so much anxiety because I have bipolar and one of my biggest fears my whole life is that someone would involuntarily hospitalize me。 And that's essentially what they did to Nesta。 My heart honestly breaks for her。 I just can't believe that SJM considers this a book of healing。 She dedicated it to all the Nestas out there but then proceeded to shit all over her character。 The message I got from this book was that if you are struggling or suffering with mental illness and you push people away YOU DESERVE TO BE SENT TO THE COURT OF NIGHTMARES because that's where you belong。。。 and that you owe all the toxic people in your life apologies and they don't have to apologize back to you。 This book honestly disgusted me。 It made me sick。 That's not even touching on the actual plot ot her powers。SHE WAS LITERALLY ABLE TO CONTROL LIFE AND DEATH AND TIME AND what she gives it up because Feysand had to fuck while in "illyrian form" and produced a winged child???Like honestly if I were Nesta this book would be my villian origin story。。。Also she and Cassian had ZERO chemistry。 I felt no romance between them。 Honestly I felt more connection between Nesta and Eris。 He wanted her over a literal dread trove object and thats what Queen Nesta deserves。 I really thought she was going to become a Queen in her own right and I'm just depressed。And again I just can't get ovet how toxic and disgusting the behavior of Rhys, and the IC was。。。。 like they literally "tamlined" Nesta and imprisoned her against her will because god forbid she spend their money that she was owed。。。Fuck honestly after this book I'm back on Team Tamlin。 At least he realized he was wrong and showed remorse for his actions。 Fucking Rhys only decided to be okay with Nesta once she saved the baby and Feyre。Nesta deserved so so so so so much better than this piece of shit that she got。 I just hope that someone far more talented than me can write a fanfic of her becoming a death god or something。Uhg this book truly ruined my favorite series and I'm not sure I will ever be able to read it again。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I'll start with stating that this was one of my most anticipated books ever since I read the first sentence of ACOTAR and finished ACOFAS three days later and fell unconditionaly in love with the series more than a year ago。 But I do have some mixed feelings。Nesta's arc development was amazingly executed。 The healing, the growing, the revival of the idea of Valkyries。。。 I loved seeing one of my favorite characters ever finally blooming。 Also the friendship of Nesta, Emery and Gwyn had me smiling I'll start with stating that this was one of my most anticipated books ever since I read the first sentence of ACOTAR and finished ACOFAS three days later and fell unconditionaly in love with the series more than a year ago。 But I do have some mixed feelings。Nesta's arc development was amazingly executed。 The healing, the growing, the revival of the idea of Valkyries。。。 I loved seeing one of my favorite characters ever finally blooming。 Also the friendship of Nesta, Emery and Gwyn had me smiling every time those three were talking and laughing together。 Their bond is what I think a real genuine friendship should look and feel like。 Nesta's relationship with the house was another piece of this story I truly adored。 I don't think I can describe how happy I was for her to go on this journey to finally forgive herself for her past mistakes and heal the wounds her actions have left on both herself and others。 Now to my major problem with this book: the attitude of Rhysand towards not only Nesta, but also Feyre。 I refuse to belive this is the same guy from the books before this one。 Even tho i did have problems with him in the first book, this is just another level。 I do understand that he doesn't like Nesta because of her past and her relationship with her sister but that doesn't give him the right to act the way he did。 Him keeping a secret the actual danger and severity of the labor from his mate does not sit right with me too。 Cassian does have a few faults in this too but seeing as he has to heal and learn too I'll be a bit less strict with him。 Between Rhysand, Cassian and Azriel I feel like Az was the most sensible one of the bunch even if he's the only one out of the three to not have a mate (or at least one that we know of as of the current books!!!)。 Another issue I have is with fact that Sarah j。 Maas might have a thing for stripping females of their powerif they are stronger than Rhysand。 First Amren, now Nesta。 I know that magic has a price but seriously?!The last thing I didn't just get was the training for around a year to participate in the Blood Rite (even if involuntary!!!) and winning it when the Ilirians take decades training to get ready for it。 I did like the Valkyrie concept but I just don't think the Blood Rite was the way to show their strength and everything else they leaned from their training。 Finally I would like to say that I can't wait to see the next book in the series where I do hope we might learn more about the forth Dread Trove, which we saw a glimpse of, the weapons that have a part of Nesta's power, what is actually left of Nesta's power and Koschei's next move。 I also root for the exploration of Azriel and Gwyn's, Mor and Emerie's, Elaine and Lucien's relationships in the future。 。。。more

I start by saying that seeing this world and its characters through Nesta's eyes was a completely different experience from the rest of the series。Through her gaze I detected the perhaps not so pleasant side of many characters and that is priceless。 I am the type of reader who likes stories that move with the arc of their characters and during these more than 700 words I had the pleasure of seeing them grow and improve。Now all my attention to her。 Nesta made me cry, made me angry, my heart ached I start by saying that seeing this world and its characters through Nesta's eyes was a completely different experience from the rest of the series。Through her gaze I detected the perhaps not so pleasant side of many characters and that is priceless。 I am the type of reader who likes stories that move with the arc of their characters and during these more than 700 words I had the pleasure of seeing them grow and improve。Now all my attention to her。 Nesta made me cry, made me angry, my heart ached for her and I smiled for her。 Living this adventure with her was being raw, susceptible to everything。 Cassian and she deserved this。It only remains for me to say that I take my hat off to Sarah J。 Maas, you can say what you like about her books but the level of humanity, vulnerability and emotion that this story conveys is not something easy to achieve。Just great。A second reading will come very soon。 。。。more

Idk, I kind of want the love triangle that was hinted at in the bonus chapter, i feel as if though it has the capacity to become another TID love triangle, and while it hurt, I also kind of loved it。 Further, I REAAAALLLYYYYYY don’t like Lucien at all and I don’t want him anywhere NEAR Elain: if they end up together I’m going to cry (though, SJM once again hinted at it when taking about the things with her not looking good in black and would have fitted in in the Spring Court😭😭😭)Either way, I enjoyed the book and can’t wait for more Az content in the next one ;) 。。。more

I knew that Nesta would go through quite the transformation and I think it was pretty obvious to all ACOTAR readers what Cassian was/is to her。 I wish that book 4 would of had a bit more about Feyre and Rhys。 I miss the inner monolog between the two of them but I do understand the need to build up Nesta's character a bit。 The way this was left, I can only guess that another book will be in the works with Elaine's story as well as the war that is looking。 This book did not disappoint。 I can't wai I knew that Nesta would go through quite the transformation and I think it was pretty obvious to all ACOTAR readers what Cassian was/is to her。 I wish that book 4 would of had a bit more about Feyre and Rhys。 I miss the inner monolog between the two of them but I do understand the need to build up Nesta's character a bit。 The way this was left, I can only guess that another book will be in the works with Elaine's story as well as the war that is looking。 This book did not disappoint。 I can't wait to read more from the ACOTAR world。 。。。more
