She provides the perfect blend to keep the reading engaged and characters that will not be soon forgotten。 I was provided a free advance reader copy from Sourcebooks Landmark in exchange for my honest review on Net Galley。 The opinions shared in this review are my own。 。。。more

And Now You’re Back is a novel by British author, Jill Mansell。 It’s thirteen years since Didi Laing has seen Shay Mason。 She was seventeen, they had an intense affair that started, ever so romantically, in Venice。 Back in Elliscombe, Shay came to work at her parents’ hotel, The Wickham。 Then there was an incident。 No one blamed Shay outright, but everyone thought he was responsible。 Didi was sure it wasn’t his fault Wasn’t she? That hint of doubt: Shay was gone。And now he’s back。 His dad, Red, And Now You’re Back is a novel by British author, Jill Mansell。 It’s thirteen years since Didi Laing has seen Shay Mason。 She was seventeen, they had an intense affair that started, ever so romantically, in Venice。 Back in Elliscombe, Shay came to work at her parents’ hotel, The Wickham。 Then there was an incident。 No one blamed Shay outright, but everyone thought he was responsible。 Didi was sure it wasn’t his fault Wasn’t she? That hint of doubt: Shay was gone。And now he’s back。 His dad, Red, is dying, and has one last wish: to see out his last days on earth in the family home, Hillcrest。 But Hillcrest is run down, unliveable, so instead of a well-earned vacation, Shay is restoring it, and living in a luxury suite in the Wickham while he does。 Apparently, Shay is now very well off, and just as gorgeous as he was at eighteen。Didi, now managing the hotel, shouldn’t be noticing: she’s engaged to Aaron, and their wedding is six months away: “Shay might have come back into her life, but he was a part of her past。 Just because her thoughts and dreams were getting distracted by his return didn’t mean they meant anything。”Didi’s best friend, Layla has just taken a plunge into online dating, and found a wonderful man。 Harry Gray is a fit and handsome, a personal trainer recently moved to the Cotswolds, and he seems to be enchanted Layla。 Their relationship advances quickly to intimacy, and Layla is deliriously happy, even if she sometimes finds herself making excuses for Harry’s thoughtlessness。 It’s puzzling that he never wants to come to her flat, and she senses that Elliscombe’s premier taxi driver, Will, has unvoiced doubts about her new boyfriend。Layla’s mother, Rosa is trying to cope with widowhood, but she misses Joe terribly。 Giving up their home, Compton House, to cover the debts Joe had left behind was a shock, but not being close to him is what hurts the most。 So, when she needs to, she sneaks into Compton House backyard at night and chats to him under his favourite tree, where she scattered his ashes。 With Shay and Red back in Elliscombe, certain people are reminded of the unsolved crime that drove Shay away, and secrets they have been keeping for thirteen years。 Thrown together, Didi and Shay remember, but try to ignore, what real love felt like: their timing is all wrong。Except for a nasty player whose comeuppance is very satisfying to witness, Mansell’s characters easily endear themselves to the reader, and if the plot is somewhat predictable, it doesn’t matter one iota because we all want these characters to overcome the obstacles thrown into their paths and find happiness。 And it’s no spoiler to reveal that they do。 Readers in the market for a Happy Ever After should look no further。 This unbiased review is from an uncorrected proof copy provided by NetGalley and Source Books Landmark。 。。。more

I appreciated how light the sprinkles of romance were since it’s nearly 100 degrees, I have no AC, and the last thing I need is a bunch of steamy sweaty scenes。 Haha! Also, there were hedgehogs。 Super fun read with lovable characters navigating their colliding universes。

Ahhh this book is absolutely adorable。 An easy read as well! I felt that the characters were three-dimensional, and I loved the way their individual storylines interconnected to form one complex, beautiful story。 The plot was constantly unraveling and thickening, which kept me glued to the pages。 I related to Didi, the protagonist, on a personal level, which made me love her even more。 Overall a heartwarming book with a happy ending :) 5/5!

The rest of the book is based in the wonderful Cotswold and it was so atmospheric。 Mansell really knows how to set the scene and make you think you're right there。 We are now 13 years on and Didi runs one of the Cotswold Hotels where she finds Shay is back and staying in one of her rooms。 These two characters are rather something。 I just can't help loving them from the get go。 There sweet and loving。 Kind and funny。 I genuinely was sad that there romance was a goner。 However Didi is finally happy and soon to be married, but fate has other plans doesn't it!? Shay is a character who just oozes confidence and sexiness and everyone can't help but be drawn to him, including Didi。 Didi can't help but question what happened 13 years ago and the story then starts unraveling the past and all there secrets。 I honestly was so rooting for this pair and at times I genuinely was panicking that it would never happen。 But it does, and Jill lets you as reader experience absolutely every emotion these characters feel。 This book is just beautiful, it's the perfect escapism or summers read。 You just can't help loving all the characters。 The writing is absolutely exceptional and you feel like you're right there in the places。 It's just such an enjoyable book that no matter what you will absolutely love。 。。。more

A typical Mansell novel about second-chance love, filled with fun side characters with stories of their own。 There's not much depth to the characters or the plot, but this is an enjoyable summer read if you're looking for entertainment。 A typical Mansell novel about second-chance love, filled with fun side characters with stories of their own。 There's not much depth to the characters or the plot, but this is an enjoyable summer read if you're looking for entertainment。 。。。more

There is no better feeling than opening the first page of a brand new book from a favourite author。 Jill Mansell is one of my all-time favourite authors。 I have been reading her books for twenty years (crikey!) and I have never been let down。 I think as she and I have matured, so has her writing and her characters。 I can always empathise and relate to her stories, she is one in a million。 And Now You're Back begins thirteen years ago on a snowy night in Venice。 Didi and Shay are in the city cele There is no better feeling than opening the first page of a brand new book from a favourite author。 Jill Mansell is one of my all-time favourite authors。 I have been reading her books for twenty years (crikey!) and I have never been let down。 I think as she and I have matured, so has her writing and her characters。 I can always empathise and relate to her stories, she is one in a million。 And Now You're Back begins thirteen years ago on a snowy night in Venice。 Didi and Shay are in the city celebrating the birthday of a friend。 Whilst they know each other, they come from very different households。 Shay's father is in and out of prison and his mother is dead。 Didi's family own a hotel and are comfortable。 That night in Venice is the beginning of their passionate love affair。 The reader then meets Didi in the present day。 She's now the manager of the family hotel and has a couple of broken engagements behind her, although she is happy with her current finance。 She hasn't seen Shay for thirteen years, and it's clear that their break up was painful。 Now he is back。 This Shay is rich and a successful businessman。 No longer the odd one out, the one who the others feel sorry for。 He's handsome and suave and they have some catching up to do。 Shay is back because he promised his father that he would renovate their old family home。 He'd rather not be there, but a promise is a promise。 It's clear that the old spark is still there and despite both Didi and Shay denying their feelings, they both have regrets。 If only they would actually talk to each other about them! As should be expected from this brilliant author, this is a story packed with colourful and intriguing characters。 Each one of them is beautifully created and before you know it, they become part of your own day。 As Didi and Shay battle with their feelings, the reader is behind them all of the way。 There are conversations to be had, and secrets to be revealed; often painful but always so perfectly created。 As always, Jill Mansell has written a warm and uplifting story, centred around a fabulous community with the hotel at its heart。 It was an utter joy to read。 Total bliss and highly recommended by me。 。。。more

Thanks to #Sourcebooks Landmark and #NetGalley for the ARC。 I received a complimentary copy of this book。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。 This book is cute and quirky。 Great for the beach。I did feel like there was not enough time spent getting to know each character。 Seems like the author just spent about 15 minutes with each one。 The book was cute and I would have liked to get to know the main characters instead of spending equal amounts of time with everyone。
