Summary

In 2011, Novak Djokovic had what has been called the greatest single season ever by a professional tennis player。 He won ten titles, three Grand Slams and 43 consecutive matches。 Remarkably, less than two years earlier, this champion could barely complete a tournament。 How did a player once plagued by aches, breathing difficulties and injuries on court suddenly become the number-one tennis player in the world? The answer is astonishing: he changed what he ate。

In Serve to Win, Djokovic recounts how he survived the bombing of Belgrade, rising from a war-torn childhood to the top tier of his sport。 He reveals the diet that transformed his health and pushed him to the pinnacle。 While Djokovic loved and craved bread, pasta and, of course, the pizza from his family's restaurant, he found his body couldn't process wheat。 Eliminating gluten made him feel instantly better, clearer, lighter and quicker。 His new physical health and mental focus enabled him to achieve his two childhood dreams: to win Wimbledon and to be ranked the world's number-one tennis player。

Djokovic challenges you to try his way of eating for just 14 days。 He provides weekly menus and easy-to-prepare recipes that will help you lose weight and find your way to a better you。 You don't need to be a professional athlete to start living and feeling better。 A trimmer, stronger, healthier you is just two weeks away!

Not sure why it’s rated so low。 Maybe people expected a biography。 This is not a biography。 Rather it’s a book about nutrition, and how that can fuel your mind and body to perform at the highest levels。 I liked it。

Changed my view about food and life。 Great book!

I loved the book。 Nothing to do with my view of whether I feel he is greater than others in terms of tennis。 The book is simple, easy to read and for me, life changing。 It’s obvious that his tennis changed over the past ten years and equally obvious his diet changed him。 Great role model for focusing on diet and meditation to change your life。 I loved the book

I found useful tips in the book not only about healthy food but also for a healthy way of life。

Apart from the many grand slams and extreme athletic success, this was so similar to my own story。 Lol I thoroughly enjoyed the book and could relate to everything Novak experienced with food intolerances, nasal surgery, chronic inflammation, brain fog and then the huge positive changes he felt after his diet change。 I learnt a lot from the book but at times I was just feeling like he was telling my story。 A great read。

As a person diagnosed with celiac disease and a tennis fan, this book provides the necessary information to start a new way of eating and goes a step further, providing a lifestyle change。 A good read and awesome easy to cook recipes!

Novak Djokovic's rise in the world of tennis from tailgating Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to becoming one of the best players to ever play the game is an excellent demonstration of the importance of diet in life。 Training alone can only take you so far but to get to the very top, to beat the best of the bests, one needs to give equal, if not higher importance to diet。 This books provides a sneak peek into Novak's meticulous gluten-free diet plan which was the last piece of the puzzle in propel Novak Djokovic's rise in the world of tennis from tailgating Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to becoming one of the best players to ever play the game is an excellent demonstration of the importance of diet in life。 Training alone can only take you so far but to get to the very top, to beat the best of the bests, one needs to give equal, if not higher importance to diet。 This books provides a sneak peek into Novak's meticulous gluten-free diet plan which was the last piece of the puzzle in propelling him to an unprecedented level of physical fitness in the game of tennis。 Highly recommended to anyone who wants to know how someone who often struggled to stay on feet in a 4 hour long tennis match can go on to win 17 (so far) grand slams。 。。。more

Being a gluten & dairy intolerant myself, I could so relate to this book。 Coming from a world champion, this means so much。 How he described his incapability to perform despite all his efforts till 2010, and how drastically everything changed in a fortnight with a diet change, every word was so very relatable。 These intolerances are so less talked about in the world。 Additionally since I'm a doctor I know that medical professionals are also very little aware of this disease, the reason I was und Being a gluten & dairy intolerant myself, I could so relate to this book。 Coming from a world champion, this means so much。 How he described his incapability to perform despite all his efforts till 2010, and how drastically everything changed in a fortnight with a diet change, every word was so very relatable。 These intolerances are so less talked about in the world。 Additionally since I'm a doctor I know that medical professionals are also very little aware of this disease, the reason I was undiagnosed till 25 years of age。 Reading Djokovic's book has made me so comfortable with myself。 It's so honest, inspiring and real。 Thank you, World Champ! 。。。more

First of all, I like Nole and I'm a constant follower of his game for the past couple years already。 With this book Novak explains how many benefits a gluten-free diet had on his health and fitness - and how many benefits it can have for basically everyone as well。 Although I'm quite familiar with subjects like nutrition and diet this book provides a few extra tips on how to manage a life with celiac disease。 First of all, I like Nole and I'm a constant follower of his game for the past couple years already。 With this book Novak explains how many benefits a gluten-free diet had on his health and fitness - and how many benefits it can have for basically everyone as well。 Although I'm quite familiar with subjects like nutrition and diet this book provides a few extra tips on how to manage a life with celiac disease。 。。。more

Interesting read about the training, mindset and diet philosophy of one of the all-time greats。 When releasing this book in 2013, much of Djokovich's success still lay ahead of him, which gives an interesting perspective on the ideas presented。 I am sure he has gone through much additional refinement since。 It is a quick read and sometimes more depth would be nice - but that is perhaps better saved for his post-career biography。 Djokovich presents his ideas on a multitude of topics, but the main Interesting read about the training, mindset and diet philosophy of one of the all-time greats。 When releasing this book in 2013, much of Djokovich's success still lay ahead of him, which gives an interesting perspective on the ideas presented。 I am sure he has gone through much additional refinement since。 It is a quick read and sometimes more depth would be nice - but that is perhaps better saved for his post-career biography。 Djokovich presents his ideas on a multitude of topics, but the main ideas conveyed throughout is to open our minds to new ways of doing things and not be afraid to try new things。 We get to know what worked for him, and can then use that information as we see fit。 A few things appear almost parodic, such as the 'bread-to-stomach' strength test。 But then again, who am I to question one of the GOATs。。 his methods clearly works for him! 。。。more

For a reason that will amaze all of us Balkans, and that is our diet。 The food we all eat our whole lives。 Novak through this book gives us tips on how to get rid of all unhealthy foods and how to start eating healthy because it is possible and not at all difficult。 You can find out in this book which ingredient the novice eliminated from the diet and helped to reach the 1st place on the ATP list。 I definitely advise everyone to read the book, because in addition to nutrition tips, Novak shared various other tips on how to be happy and healthier through the book。 。。。more
