Summary

A wedding harpist disillusioned with love and a hopeless romantic cater-waiter flirt and fight their way through a summer of weddings in this effervescent romantic comedy from the acclaimed author of Today Tonight Tomorrow

Quinn Berkowitz and Tarek Mansour’s families have been in business together for years: Quinn’s parents are wedding planners, and Tarek’s own a catering company。 At the end of last summer, Quinn confessed her crush on him in the form of a rambling email—and then he left for college without a response。

Quinn has been dreading seeing him again almost as much as she dreads another summer playing the harp for her parents’ weddings。 When he shows up at the first wedding of the summer, looking cuter than ever after a year apart, they clash immediately。 Tarek’s always loved the grand gestures in weddings—the flashier, the better—while Quinn can’t see them as anything but fake。 Even as they can’t seem to have one civil conversation, Quinn’s thrown together with Tarek wedding after wedding, from performing a daring cake rescue to filling in for a missing bridesmaid and groomsman。

Quinn can’t deny her feelings for him are still there, especially after she learns the truth about his silence, opens up about her own fears, and begins learning the art of harp-making from an enigmatic teacher。

Maybe love isn’t the enemy after all—and maybe allowing herself to fall is the most honest thing Quinn’s ever done。

I wanted to love this book way more than I did。 Their story was cute but Quinn kept making me so mad throughout this whole book。 I did sympathize with her with some things, but I was just annoyed at a lot of the scenes。 The redeeming quality of this book was their cute banter and the Sleepless in Seattle references。 I also loved how inclusive the author was with her characters。 Cute read, just wish their was more chemistry and that Quinn wasn’t so infuriating。

This felt so much like a romcom movie! I must admit, that I was a bit frustrated with Quinn's non-commitment issues with Tarek。 Only because they were doing very relationship-y things and she didn't want put a label on it which seemed unfair to both of them。 I love the positivity in respect to mental health, therapy, and sex。 The way that both characters communicated and allowed themselves to be vulnerable with one another was very mature, because at their age I was keeping everything inside。 A This felt so much like a romcom movie! I have seen a few Facebook mentions in YA books from the past 2-3 years and from my understanding, they are all on Tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter。 I feel like Facebook/Snapchat is pretty much dead?Notes:- Quinn is Jewish and lots of Jewish rep!- Tarek is Egyptian。- There is LGTBQ+ rep (side characters)- OCD, anxiety, depression, eczema (which are talked about extensively) 。。。more

I really love RLS’s voice across her body of work, and it shows up beautifully here! Some of my favorite moments included the farmer’s market, the first kiss, and of course the ending, but I think the most special elements of this story surrounded Quinn’s relationship to harp。 I LOVED getting to know the instrument through her eyes and watching her slowly come to life again! ✨

This was a very fast read and so wonderfully entertaining。 It was super romantic, but I was surprised at how quickly things started。 I thought it was going to be more of an enemies to lovers sort of thing- At times Quinn really frustrated me because of how she held herself back from being in a relationship, and it kind of felt like overkill how everything related back to her parents separation。 - I loved that Tarek knew what he wanted and was so committed。 It's not often that boys in YA are dedi This was a very fast read and so wonderfully entertaining。 It was super romantic, but I was surprised at how quickly things started。 I thought it was going to be more of an enemies to lovers sort of thing- At times Quinn really frustrated me because of how she held herself back from being in a relationship, and it kind of felt like overkill how everything related back to her parents separation。 - I loved that Tarek knew what he wanted and was so committed。 It's not often that boys in YA are dedicated and serious about relationships。 - I really loved the family aspect of the business and how close everyone was。 - I appreciated the mental illness rep, especially Tarek's, though I would have liked to read more about his experience of depression in first year of college。 I think that is a very relatable thing for a lot of people- the cameo was fabulous and so heartwarming。- I can't quite put my finger on why this book feels more mediocre to me, whereas Today Tonight Tomorrow captured my heart so well。 。。。more

This made my heart sing in a way that only the most charming and well-written YA contemporary novels can! Rachel Lynn Solomon has a knack for characterization and has certainly secured a spot on my auto-read list。 Here, I wanted just a touch less on the relationship between Quinn and Tarek and a bit *more* on Quinn's relationships in general -- i。e。 those with her parents, her best friend, her harpist mentor (!), etc。 -- because I think they form (and drive) the self-growth at the heart of the n This made my heart sing in a way that only the most charming and well-written YA contemporary novels can! Okay I wanna start off by saying I loved the wedding planner and harp lesson storylines in this!! It was something different and I was definitely a fan。 Also, points for the Fleabag reference!!!!Now…。 both Tarek Quinn were so frustrating!! But also very relatable for teens。 Honestly they kept switching between sweet and annoying for me。 For Tarek, I understand being a romantic, but so much of his romance was just daydreaming for the perfect story?? Especially the instagram posts, very cringey。 A Okay I wanna start off by saying I loved the wedding planner and harp lesson storylines in this!! Especially the instagram posts, very cringey。 All the grand gestures just so he could have some great and amazing origin story for his future love。 Which is not fair to Quinn!!!! How many times did she say that she didn’t want that and he didn’t listen 🙄 But also, Quinn was not being fair to him, basically asking him to be her boyfriend but refusing to make it official。 And no offense or to knock on anyone’s experiences, but she was so hung up on her mom leaving for 6 months when she was 8。 I’m sorry but that was 10 years ago… in the nicest way possible, get over it。 I understand being mad your parents never mentioned it but like why would you want to hold a grudge from when you were EIGHT? Idk if that makes me a bad person for thinking that Anyway, I liked how their story turned out in the end but they did piss me off for a good portion of this book。 Had they been less annoying, I would’ve given this 4 stars。 。。。more

I picked up We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This last weekend and I had to start it right away。 I flew through this one today! This YA one wasn’t quite as good as Solomon’s last one that I read, Today Tonight and Tomorrow。 In fact, some of the characters from that world crossed into this one! This was cute and enjoyable but didn't really make me fall inlove with the story as much as the previous books I've read by this autor did。 I think this is mostly because the troupes here are just not my thing。 This still has the good things this autor does like casual representation across the board, and great sex positive writing。 This one featured and mental illness representation which I appreciate。 That said I didn't like the MC as much and didn't care as much for the characters here than I This was cute and enjoyable but didn't really make me fall inlove with the story as much as the previous books I've read by this autor did。 I think this is mostly because the troupes here are just not my thing。 This still has the good things this autor does like casual representation across the board, and great sex positive writing。 This one featured and mental illness representation which I appreciate。 That said I didn't like the MC as much and didn't care as much for the characters here than I did for her previous releases。 The setting with the wedding planning was nice。 I made exactly one note and it was this: A client saying can you do anything about the heat when no you can't and you too are suffering gave me PTSD flashbacks to when I was a server。 I also understand the whole write what you know thing, but I'm getting tired of Seattle ngl。Overall a cute and fun YA, just not as good as the autors previous released but that just my personal opinion。 。。。more

Solomon's newest YA novel is a fun, summery romp through Seattle。 Main character Quinn felt run over by her family of wedding planners。 Newly graduated from high school, they have her future all planned out for her 。。 a future she's pretty sure she doesn't want。 Meanwhile, her former crush Tarek, whose family also works weddings as caterers, is around every corner during wedding season。 Quinn is desperately afraid of commitment。 Tarek's a hopeless romantic。 Cue sparks and conflict。 This didn't h Solomon's newest YA novel is a fun, summery romp through Seattle。 Main character Quinn felt run over by her family of wedding planners。 Newly graduated from high school, they have her future all planned out for her 。。 a future she's pretty sure she doesn't want。 Meanwhile, her former crush Tarek, whose family also works weddings as caterers, is around every corner during wedding season。 Quinn is desperately afraid of commitment。 Tarek's a hopeless romantic。 Cue sparks and conflict。 This didn't hit quite as well as Today Tonight Tomorrow for me, but I still really liked it and couldn't put it down。 Good talk about mental illness。 。。。more

wow this book was a ride。 i accidentally finished it in one day because i was just so desparate to know what happened next。 quinn was beautifully written, showcasing all of her anxieties。 honestly i’ve never felt anxiety pop off the page the way rachel lynn solomon writes it, which is probably part of the reason i couldn’t put this down。 all the characters are just so rounded out, and there’s just enough plot to keep things interesting。 it was so sickeningly sweet and the same time as being a tr wow this book was a ride。 i accidentally finished it in one day because i was just so desparate to know what happened next。 quinn was beautifully written, showcasing all of her anxieties。 honestly i’ve never felt anxiety pop off the page the way rachel lynn solomon writes it, which is probably part of the reason i couldn’t put this down。 all the characters are just so rounded out, and there’s just enough plot to keep things interesting。 it was so sickeningly sweet and the same time as being a truly anti-romance romance novel。 i loved every part of this book。 SPOILERY STUFF AHEAD:some of quinn’s personality traits hit a little too close to home。 ANYWAY, i loved tarek, literally a dream man。 the toast scene was so sweet bc it was cheesy just like a romcom but it was perfect because it was the in between of tarek’s grand gestures and quinn’s quiet love。 the julia and noelle were also so sweet, and i loved asher and quinn’s bond so much。 quinn grew so much over the course of this book and it was so beautiful to read。 。。。more

4。5 stars awwwww when I read the description for this book I thought I would really like it and u know what? I was right *sunglasses emoji* I knocked off a half a star for a couple of things that didn't quite make sense but overall a great read (view spoiler)[ while I did like the Maxine part it did seem to come out of nowhere。 Also since her parents took her anxiety and OCD very seriously I did find it somewhat surprising that they didn't notice the stress or seem to not care they placed on her 4。5 stars awwwww when I read the description for this book I thought I would really like it and u know what? I also think Quinn's sense of humor worked for me bc I felt myself laughing out loud but I can see how it might not be for everyone。 I also like that Quinn spends quality time with her best friend Julia, and her best friend has an actual life outside of Supporting The Main Character。 Also the romance!!!!!! ahhh it was super cute。 I liked that the characters didn't suffer from the miscommunication trope。 I felt like their romance built up organically in a fun, realistic way for 18/19 year olds and that the story supported the idea that love between young people is valid。 Additionally I felt like the fights and disagreements they had were also realistic。 。。。more

This was a cute read, but the main character was so cynical that it got a bit much to be in her head after a while。 I liked the wedding planning business aspect, as well as her friendship with her sister。

Such a light and fun story。 My favorite thing about Solomon’s writing is that, in all of her books that I’ve read, the real love story is the love RLS has for Seattle。

Maybe I had unrealistic expectations for this book after loving Today Tonight Tomorrow and enjoying The Ex Talk as much as I did。 This was just “okay” to me for no one specific reason, but several small things that felt contrived。
