4/2/21:Today was international children's book day, and I managed to get one in just under the buzzer。 Of course I've read this several times before, but since our culture curators have set their sights on Dr。 Seuss and already stopped publishing six of his books, it behooved me to catch one of his other ones before they're all gone。 They're not fans of the thinks you can think if they don't sync with the thinks they think and will shrink and sink thinks they think stink。 This book hasn't been g 4/2/21:Today was international children's book day, and I managed to get one in just under the buzzer。 Of course I've read this several times before, but since our culture curators have set their sights on Dr。 Seuss and already stopped publishing six of his books, it behooved me to catch one of his other ones before they're all gone。 They're not fans of the thinks you can think if they don't sync with the thinks they think and will shrink and sink thinks they think stink。 This book hasn't been given the axe yet, but I'm not sure why。 It's clearly just as racist and offensive as anything else the doc has written。 How about the na-nuppians? I mean, look at those hats! Surely some Arabians or sultans, or somebody is pissed off about this。 Shouldn't we appease them, one and all, and start burning all these books immediately? And am I the only one who realizes that this is just one syllable away from a racist slur? Yeah, you better watch out for that Jibboo in the dark alley at night。 And how about the political indoctrination? It's no secret that Dr。 Seuss was quite liberal, and here he is sending subliminal messages to the kids。 "Think left!" Smooth, Seussy。 Smooth。 On the next page he expresses his confusion about why anyone would lean conservative。 I hope it plagued him until his death。All kidding aside, this book is fine。 It's not one of his best, nor is it bad。 The meter is off in places。。。 Actually, what the hell do I know about meter? I hate poetry。 Is meter even the right word? This calls for research。 Standby。。。。Well hot damn, I got it right! The meter is off in places, I say。 It reminds me of some poems I wrote in high school and college。 As long as the words rhymed in the right place, I didn't give a shit about the rest of it, so therefore there was no meter。 Of course, Seuss isn't that bad。Read this to your kids; they'll be fine。 I mean, if I can withstand the propaganda and still come out the other side unwoke, I'm sure others can too。 But you better get to it before the culture curators do。 It won't be too long before those sultan hats make them indignant on behalf of sheiks the world over, and that will be the end of that。 。。。more

A classic Dr。 Seuss book。 The artwork is colorful and whimsicaland holds a child's attention。 The meter and rhyme also help with this book。 The downside to this book is that, as with most Seuss books, there is a lot of synthetic words, which do not help a child's understanding of how to read, as there is nothing in the real world for them to draw a parallel to。 A classic Dr。 Seuss book。 The artwork is colorful and whimsicaland holds a child's attention。 The meter and rhyme also help with this book。 The downside to this book is that, as with most Seuss books, there is a lot of synthetic words, which do not help a child's understanding of how to read, as there is nothing in the real world for them to draw a parallel to。 。。。more

It’s a shame that Dr。 Seuss never illustrated any of Clark Ashton Smith’s works。

In Oh, the Thinks You Can Think , Dr。Seuss writes about the power of imagination。 Each page is crafted around the idea of "the things you can think" including gloves, snubs, light, bright and stairs in the night。 This book is engaging and fun。 The illustrations are detailed, colourful and hilarious, complimenting each page well。 Dr。Seuss takes a lot of creative liberties。。。making up words and playing with phrases which makes this book very silly。 I wouldn't say that it is a literary classic but In Oh, the Thinks You Can Think , Dr。Seuss writes about the power of imagination。 Each page is crafted around the idea of "the things you can think" including gloves, snubs, light, bright and stairs in the night。 This book is engaging and fun。 The illustrations are detailed, colourful and hilarious, complimenting each page well。 Dr。Seuss takes a lot of creative liberties。。。making up words and playing with phrases which makes this book very silly。 I wouldn't say that it is a literary classic but it is a silly and light read that will make young ones laugh。 。。。more

This poetic book begins by asking the reader to think of simple, familiar things such as colors and animals。 It then begins to ask readers to think more complicated, creative, less concrete thoughts。 Through detailed descriptions, the book eventually invites the reader to imagine completely fictional, abstract characters and ideas。 With the use of various rhymes and puns, this book provides a spirited introduction to some very fundamental questions in life such as: How do our minds work and diff This poetic book begins by asking the reader to think of simple, familiar things such as colors and animals。 It then begins to ask readers to think more complicated, creative, less concrete thoughts。 Through detailed descriptions, the book eventually invites the reader to imagine completely fictional, abstract characters and ideas。 With the use of various rhymes and puns, this book provides a spirited introduction to some very fundamental questions in life such as: How do our minds work and differ from one another? Where do thoughts come from? What is physically possible vs。 merely conceivable? I find the word choice within this text to be very amusing and enjoyable to read as well as seriously thought-provoking。 There is no doubt in my mind that Dr。 Seuss was aiming to inspire children to think for themselves and develop a deep level of consciousness when writing this one。 This book could be a great conversation starter about topics such as language, art, thoughts and more。 I think it would be great to hold a class discussion and/or do a writing or drawing exercise after reading this together as a class。 It would also be a great addition to the core bookshelf for my readers to return to whenever they'd like。 I think this would be appropriate for 1-2 grade and possibly a bit above as well。 。。。more

Rowan just calls this one “Schlopp!” He doesn’t like cherries though。 A horse is also a “horace,” and I’m sure Dr。 Seuss would approve。

I personally really enjoy this Dr。 Seuss book because he provides the readers to have so much of their own imagination。 Since there is nothing definite or necessarily true or showing his beliefs, it allows and teaches the readers that they can think about absolutely whatever they want to as long as they try to。 I would recommend this book to any reader who wants something fun to read or even to someone who is having a hard time making their own decisions。 That way this book might be able to help I personally really enjoy this Dr。 Seuss book because he provides the readers to have so much of their own imagination。 Since there is nothing definite or necessarily true or showing his beliefs, it allows and teaches the readers that they can think about absolutely whatever they want to as long as they try to。 I would recommend this book to any reader who wants something fun to read or even to someone who is having a hard time making their own decisions。 That way this book might be able to help the readers make their own thoughts on things。 。。。more

This is another of my favorites from Dr。 Seuss - to read and read and read again! How wonderful is it to have a book that encourages children to think and to think that there are SO MANY amazing things that they can think。 It encourages creativity and unique and independent thought。 Did I say I love it? Yes, I do!

Little confusing at times for an adult, but kids love it!
