Summary

To save the city, Rachel Morgan will need to show some teeth in the next Hollows novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison。

The new master vampire of Cincinnati has arrived 。 。 。 and she wants Rachel Morgan out。 No matter where Rachel goes, Constance is there--threatening Rachel's allies, causing city-wide chaos, and, to add insult to injury, even forcing Rachel out of her current quarters。 Ever since Rachel found a way to save the souls of vampires, the old undead's longtime ascendancy has been broken。 Now Constance sees eliminating Rachel as the key to consolidating her own power。

Rachel has no desire to be enthralled or killed--and she's terrified of what may become of the city if Constance forces a return to the ancient ways。 But even a witch-born demon can't stand against the old undead--at least, not alone。 And if Rachel refuses to claim the role of Cincinnati's master demon, the city will tear itself apart, taking her and all those who stand beside her with it。

Rachel Morgan always comes out on top, but never unscathed。 In this installment of The Hollows series。 We see familiar faces, visit memories of past books, and meet new characters。 Rachel must decide if she's willing to step into the roll of Master Demon。 There is just one HUGE problem standing in her way, Constance the new master of Cincinnati and Pike, her Scion。 Constance makes Bram Stokers Dracula look like a gentle kindergarten teacher。 Pike has his own secrets。 (Which of course Rachel hel Rachel Morgan always comes out on top, but never unscathed。 In this installment of The Hollows series。 We see familiar faces, visit memories of past books, and meet new characters。 Rachel must decide if she's willing to step into the roll of Master Demon。 There is just one HUGE problem standing in her way, Constance the new master of Cincinnati and Pike, her Scion。 Constance makes Bram Stokers Dracula look like a gentle kindergarten teacher。 Pike has his own secrets。 (Which of course Rachel helps him with)。The book is slow to start, but once it's rolling you are in for a ride。 Staying up well into the night turning page after page。 One small disappointing aspect; Trent。 We have loved to hate him for many installments。 I miss the ruthless arrogant elf that has no disregard for anyone or anything other than what's his。 By God Rachel is his, but his fire doesn't even sizzle in Million Dollar Demon。 IMO a missed opportunity。 。。。more

I finished this book way late in the night, going "just one more chapter, one more chapter"。 It was nice to revisit the Hollows, but I am due to a reread cause my old brain took a while to resynchronise with the universe and the names and what's been going on。 I finished this book way late in the night, going "just one more chapter, one more chapter"。 It was nice to revisit the Hollows, but I am due to a reread cause my old brain took a while to resynchronise with the universe and the names and what's been going on。 。。。more

Rachel Morgan is back and I loved visiting with my old friends。 There is a new Master Vampire coming to town and Rachel has to find a new place to live。 With Ivy being gone and the bad memories that the church has held for her and Jenks, they felt it was time to move on。 But they along with other witches and weres are displaced by the new Camarilla。 Constance is a deranged master vampire who rules her people by fear。 She hates Rachel and wants her to leave Cincinnati or die。 Rachel per her usual Rachel Morgan is back and I loved visiting with my old friends。 There is a new Master Vampire coming to town and Rachel has to find a new place to live。 With Ivy being gone and the bad memories that the church has held for her and Jenks, they felt it was time to move on。 But they along with other witches and weres are displaced by the new Camarilla。 Constance is a deranged master vampire who rules her people by fear。 She hates Rachel and wants her to leave Cincinnati or die。 Rachel per her usual stubborn self, is not going anywhere。 But instead of being ruthless she tries to act like a spoiled child, playing games。 From the beginning, to everyone else except Rachel, it is proven she cannot play games with Constance。 At first I wanted to strangle Rachel and yell at her to get her head in the game, kill or be killed。 This deranged vampire is hurting those you care about and you think she is just going to go away? She has threatened Trent, David, and Ivy。 Rachel was depressed, Al was no longer in her life, Ivy was away and her church was destroyed。 I felt connected to Rachel and knew that even though she never truly believes in her powers and what she could become as a witch born demon, she always has the backing of her friends and family who support her in everything she does。 She also has built a following from those that Constance displaced as the church became a true sanctuary。 I missed Ivy in the story but there is a new vampire that catches her interest in a hormonal way, reminiscent of Kisten。 Jenks, Trent, David and Edden all back Rachel, and surprisingly so does Hodin。 The story was a fun ride and I did not want it to end, I dragged out reading it because I didn't want to let the Hollows go just yet。 I cannot wait for the next installment。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 So many times when a series gets this long it becomes just a formula read。 But not this one! Book 15 of the Hollows is just as good, with as many surprises and twists as the first! There are a couple of givens, but not many (since Kim has killed off a few characters over the series!), so anticipation is high till the very end。 Loved it, can't wait to read it again and again! This is the latest chapter in The Hollows series。 Pretty much all of the main cars of characters are back in this storyline。 Of course some are featured more prominently than others。 And there are some new additions。 And yet it doesn’t。feel like an overload。 The main plot line is about a power struggle for control of Cincinnati between Rachel and the new master vampire who is a new level of crazy。

I was disappointed in Rachel's comeback in American Demon。 But this? This book featured the Rachel I had come to know and love in the entire series。 While I missed Ivy, it was nice to have Rachel just be Rachel and do what she does best。 I was disappointed in Rachel's comeback in American Demon。 But this? Magical Reading Experience。Ms。 Harrison never disappoints。 Her books are like catching up with old, much loved friends。 Her writing is as magical as her characters and they run across the mythical board。 Werewolf, vampires, demons and elves that are somehow more human than most of the humans。 Her stories are a welcomed escape for me and The Hollows is a great place to escape to。

I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 I was glad to have Rachel back in Cincinnati, not galivanting around in other dimensions。 I was especially glad for her and Jenks to take the church back and rebuild (although I will miss the kitchen it sounded like a great space for her)。 The storyline was great and fun with Rachel using her craft to outwit Constance's evilness。 I enjoyed seeing Trent getting some old knowledge of elves back, it really seemed something that could be carried on in future books。 I I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 I was glad to have Rachel back in Cincinnati, not galivanting around in other dimensions。 I was especially glad for her and Jenks to take the church back and rebuild (although I will miss the kitchen it sounded like a great space for her)。 The storyline was great and fun with Rachel using her craft to outwit Constance's evilness。 I enjoyed seeing Trent getting some old knowledge of elves back, it really seemed something that could be carried on in future books。 I can't wait until she finds out how to bring Bis's soul back and have him back in the storyline。 。。。more

So the happy ever after didn't last long after the last story arc。 And I can't say I'm sorry, since catching up with some of my favorite characters is so worth it。 I love that this one, and American Demon, takes place shortly after the last story arc ended。 I love that she and Trent have figured things out and are standing together against the new threats to Cincinnati。 I really hope they don't mess this up!DC has sent a new master vampire to Cincy and the long undead is bat-shit crazy。 Not that So the happy ever after didn't last long after the last story arc。 And I can't say I'm sorry, since catching up with some of my favorite characters is so worth it。 I love that this one, and American Demon, takes place shortly after the last story arc ended。 I love that she and Trent have figured things out and are standing together against the new threats to Cincinnati。 I really hope they don't mess this up!DC has sent a new master vampire to Cincy and the long undead is bat-shit crazy。 Not that all of the long dead aren't, but this one makes Piscary look stable。 And she's declared war on Rachel。 In order to keep her city from falling apart, Rachel needs to step up and take on a role she's never wanted。 But to keep Cincy from falling to the vampires, she'll do it。I can't wait to find out what happens next! 。。。more

I still love the universe Harrison created, but in the latest books her characters have become inexplicably one dimensional and somewhat inexplicable。

Another decent installment of The Hollows series。 Not as good as previous books, but entertaining enough。

Ted Camer

Outstanding Another book in the Hollows legendary series。 This was the best of the rest。 I only hope there are many more to follow。

Ahh, brilliant and satisfying!

Still the BestKim Harrison works her magic and brings the Hollows and its characters to life。 Fifteen books and it still isn’t enough。 Please keep the books coming。

Caomhghain

Rather too much improbable facing impossible situations and insufficient using super powers。 Generally a good enough story with the back stories noodling along nicely。

Suzy Ostapower

I love this series so much!Honestly, I didn’t want the book to end。 This is one of my very favorite authors and very favorite series。 You get all the feels with Kim Harrison - happy, sad, terror, and unmitigated joy。 Thank you for writing about Rachel Mariana Morgan again。

Patty

Absolutely loved it, a great read。 Hated coming to the end。 Wanted to read it again。
