Twists and drama Good character development and follow on from previous books without repetition。 Lots of twists and drama in this story。 Too much unnecessary description of stereotypical gangsters， who have little to do with the plot。 I found myself skipping pages。

The Logan series has become absolutely my favourite detective series - I love the characters and although there are now 11 books in the series， the stories are still keeping me hooked。You would expect that books about murders would not be funny but the banter and the way that the characters interact lead to some laugh out loud moments （Hoon being the funniest of them all）！I’m now waiting patiently for the next installment in August 🙂

I used this metaphor in another review， but I’m going to use it again – An Isolated Incident had me chortling and snorting like a farting pig – make what you will of that delightful imagery。 The beauty of Kirk’s work is partly in his dialogue – which is hilarious， appropriate and moves the plot along at a rate of knots whilst revealing so much about the characters – and partly in his characterisation- his team are so individual， each with their own wee idiosyncrasies and as the series progresses I used this metaphor in another review， but I’m going to use it again – An Isolated Incident had me chortling and snorting like a farting pig – make what you will of that delightful imagery。 The beauty of Kirk’s work is partly in his dialogue – which is hilarious， appropriate and moves the plot along at a rate of knots whilst revealing so much about the characters – and partly in his characterisation- his team are so individual， each with their own wee idiosyncrasies and as the series progresses， it really allows the reader to invest themselves in the story。The balance between gritty Tartan noir， humour and insight inot the characters is what makes this series work so well for me。 Through the course of the novel each character is given their own contribution and their own chance to shine and I love that。 Despite the darkness， there is hop and humanity and strong friendships which make An Isolated Incident a five * read。 JD Kirk’s DCI Jack Logan books are not for those opposed to swearing in crime fiction。 However， I think anyone who avoids them for that reason is doing themselves a huge disservice。 。。。more

An isolated incident Wow this was definitely grittier than the other books but I loved it and it was nice to get a glimpse into Jacks earlier life it was like an episode of the sweeney at one point especially with Hoon involved can’t wait for the next one

Logan， Almost on Top Form！An aborted honeymoon sees Sinead and Tyler ‘Boyband’ on the case of a murdered has-been comic and his family。 Along for the ride are the usual MIT suspects， Ben， Hamza， Dave， and an appearance by ex-DCI Hoon。 A twisty plot with plenty of action， humour and heart。 Addictive。
