Maura has thick skin being a coroner， but nothing could ever prepare her for the day that she looks down at the body on her table and sees。。herself。Two stories are cleverly entwined throughout this book that left me guessing right until the very last page。 This was a dark and chilling tale， much more so than the thrillers I usually read， however thoroughly enjoyed it none the less。

Quite introspective at first， as Maura witnessed the autopsy of a woman she later finds out was her heretofore unknown twin。 She considers her own mortality and comes across the belongings her sister left behind， knowing that as they were put away， Anna couldn’t have imagined that they’d never be used （again）。I did not predict the identity of Anna’s murderer， but the mystery and the side stories were neatly wrapped up at the end。 And， of course， we find out at the end that the side stories were Quite introspective at first， as Maura witnessed the autopsy of a woman she later finds out was her heretofore unknown twin。 She considers her own mortality and comes across the belongings her sister left behind， knowing that as they were put away， Anna couldn’t have imagined that they’d never be used （again）。I did not predict the identity of Anna’s murderer， but the mystery and the side stories were neatly wrapped up at the end。 And， of course， we find out at the end that the side stories were indeed tied to the main mystery after all。Maura is just having the worst luck with guys。 One’s actually involved in a multinational cover-up， one is a priest who won’t renounce his vows， and this latest one （SPOILER？！） is killed。 ☹️And super-preggers Jane still manages to save the day！ 😃 。。。more

A good fast read。 It builds up the suspense nicely but somehow I found the conclusion of the book quite disappointing。 It is almost as if the last twist was forcibly put in。 It completely destroys the logic built up in the previous pages。 Overall a passable thriller。
