Summary

New York Times Bestseller

Foreword by Dr。 Phil McGraw

Ask yourself…are you truly who you want to be? Is this the life you really want? Are you living each day as your best self? What can you change, today?

How would you answer those questions? Think about your daily life。 Are you thriving, or going through the motions? Are your days full of work, relationships and activities that are true to your authentic self, or do you feel trapped on a treadmill of responsibility? If you dream of a better life, now is the time to turn your dream into reality。 And the tools you need are within your grasp, to design a life that is fulfilling on the deepest levels。 Best Self will show you how。

Mike Bayer, known to the thousands of clients whose lives he has changed as Coach Mike, has helped everyone from pop stars to business executives to people just like you discover the freedom to be their best selves。 By asking them and leading them to ask themselves a series of important but tough questions—such as “What are your core values?”  “Do you go to bed each day more knowledgeable than when you woke up?” and “Am I neglecting some aspect of my physical health out of fear or denial?”—he helps them see what their Best Selves and Anti-Selves really look like。 As a mental health specialist, a personal development coach, and an all-around change agent, Mike has seen the amazing ways in which lives can improve with honesty and clarity。  He understands our struggles intimately, because he’s faced—and overcome—his own。 And he knows that change is possible。

By working through each of the Seven SPHERES of life—Social, Personal, Health, Education, Relationships, Employment and Spiritual Development—Best Self is an accessible and interactive book that distills all of Coach Mike’s wisdom into a compact, focused guide that will ignite anyone’s desire for change。 Chock full of revealing quizzes, and full of provocative questionnaires, Best Self will empower you to embrace your authenticity, acknowledge what is holding you back, and break through to live a passionate life to the fullest, forever。

Full on, like if you follow up on all the areas and work on them every day, don't expect to sleep much if you are also working full time。 But there are a lot of inspiring thoughts and suggestions。 Well worth reading and creating your own tailor made program to be you, only better。 Full on, like if you follow up on all the areas and work on them every day, don't expect to sleep much if you are also working full time。 But there are a lot of inspiring thoughts and suggestions。 Well worth reading and creating your own tailor made program to be you, only better。 。。。more

If I actually had this book on hand, I think I would have highlighted continuously。 So many good points and things to think about。 Chapters I could relate to and others gave me more to think about。 I usually find self help books boring and just can't connect。 This book talked to me in my language and personally。 Thank you Mike! This book is exactly what you would expect from a life coach。 His approach to how you view your life feels fresh and innovative。 Albeit I did not do all of the exercises, I feel like the more you put into this the more you could take charge of your life。 If you are trying to figure out what holds you back and want to take charge of your life。 I recommend going through this as I feel it will be very valuable to you。 Joseph McKnighthttp://www。josephmcknight。com This book is exactly what you would expect from a life coach。 His approach to how you view your life feels fresh and innovative。 Albeit I did not do all of the exercises, I feel like the more you put into this the more you could take charge of your life。 If you are trying to figure out what holds you back and want to take charge of your life。 I recommend going through this as I feel it will be very valuable to you。 Joseph McKnighthttp://www。josephmcknight。com 。。。more

I only read a part chapter or specific chapters。 I am a coach with psychological training, cognitive。 I wanted to see what he was saying about topics I was interested in。 I'm a little tired of reading self-improvement books。 This one was better than most。 It wasn't written JUST to attract new clients, he is a fellow coach, he actually gave it more。 This I found helpful。 I only read a part chapter or specific chapters。 I am a coach with psychological training, cognitive。 I wanted to see what he was saying about topics I was interested in。 I'm a little tired of reading self-improvement books。 This one was better than most。 It wasn't written JUST to attract new clients, he is a fellow coach, he actually gave it more。 This I found helpful。 。。。more

When I started reading it, I was about to return it。 But decided to give it a chance and I’m glad I did。 As soon as the author started talking about Spheres and got into the detail, I couldn’t put the book down。 Worth the read!!!!!!

Nothing new here。This book is just a rehash of all the other books of this type: Pick the words that apply to you。 Write your goals, how close are you to achieving them? What can you do to get closer to achieving them?

So many good and practical points and thoughts and ideas。 In the middle of a pandemic and finding myself needing to make some kind of pivot, this book has helped me look inside and ponder how I see my self。 Thanks to the author Mike Bayer for this read。 I am moving forward with hope working on my Best Self and deleting Anti-Self。 There is no room for the two of them any longer。 Quote from the book, “Live each day with an open mind, a curious spirit, a willingness to take action when needed, and So many good and practical points and thoughts and ideas。 In the middle of a pandemic and finding myself needing to make some kind of pivot, this book has helped me look inside and ponder how I see my self。 Thanks to the author Mike Bayer for this read。 I am moving forward with hope working on my Best Self and deleting Anti-Self。 There is no room for the two of them any longer。 Quote from the book, “Live each day with an open mind, a curious spirit, a willingness to take action when needed, and an extreme focus on the tasks at hand。” 。。。more

I absolutely love this book! It was a great first book to start 75Hard。 I had a notebook by me jotting down notes and answering the questions every time I opened the book。 I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading。 I highly recommend this book to all my friends!

The first few chapters about best self and anti self took me the longestHowever, it’s the chapter on self care and build social relationships are most helpfulIt’s not selfish to take care of yourself, it’s your responsibility。 And here is another book mentioning Mindful breathing, mindfulness, I don’t know how many books I had read that mentioned this, at least 2/3 of the books I’ve read。 I gotta incorporate that in my life。

typical tips given, so I ended up skimming。 however if you're looking for a more guided type of "self-help" it does give questions and other prompts, that did stand out to me from other similar books。 typical tips given, so I ended up skimming。 however if you're looking for a more guided type of "self-help" it does give questions and other prompts, that did stand out to me from other similar books。 。。。more

3。5⭐️ This was a good book and I was able to get some things out of it that I can use in my own life, but by the end, it started getting repetitive (to me)。 There was nothing profoundly new that put it above other books I read in the same genre, but did give a new perspective on how to change it。

Dr。 Phil McGraw was so effusive about this book, I was compelled to give it a listen。 Read by author and life coach Mike Bayer, the book offers a road map for identifying your life’s goals and strategies for attaining them。The book is best when the author provides case studies, including the story of his own journey as a former methamphetamine addict。I took many notes, but I think what resonates most is when he asks readers “Who connects us with our best selves?” He says “Our parents don’t, as t Dr。 Phil McGraw was so effusive about this book, I was compelled to give it a listen。 Read by author and life coach Mike Bayer, the book offers a road map for identifying your life’s goals and strategies for attaining them。The book is best when the author provides case studies, including the story of his own journey as a former methamphetamine addict。I took many notes, but I think what resonates most is when he asks readers “Who connects us with our best selves?” He says “Our parents don’t, as they may not be connected with their own best selves。” Likewise, he says our friends are “not equipped”。 He concludes, “Therefore, later in life we are faced with aspects of our life that just feel off。” This is where our work begins。I would recommend this book to anyone needing the motivation to make the very most of their time on Earth。 Bravo! 。。。more

I find it very practical if you are interested in coaching and if you want to reflect on your life with a book, then it is a great tool。

This book was very disappointing and shallow。 It has unrealistic suggestions like quitting your job and making your hobby (your desires) be your job。 His strategies are not realistic for most people to do。 This might be OK for high school student before entering the work world or college but not for real people with real responsibilities。 He talks too much about himself, it’s a fluffy, self help book with very little solutions to real life problems。 His spiritual chapter is scattered and non com This book was very disappointing and shallow。 It has unrealistic suggestions like quitting your job and making your hobby (your desires) be your job。 His strategies are not realistic for most people to do。 This might be OK for high school student before entering the work world or college but not for real people with real responsibilities。 He talks too much about himself, it’s a fluffy, self help book with very little solutions to real life problems。 His spiritual chapter is scattered and non committal to faith, almost like you are your own GOD, if it feels good do it。 。。。more

This book definitely contains very useful advice for living in a thoughtful and intentional way。 I like the way he adapts 12-step ideas and principles to every day living。 Having read this, without doing the exercises, now I'm going to read it again more slowly and do the exercises。 I've already started implementing some changes to be myself, only better。 I'm so glad I got my own copy of this -- I knew while I was reading the library copy that I was going to need one of my own。 This book definitely contains very useful advice for living in a thoughtful and intentional way。 I like the way he adapts 12-step ideas and principles to every day living。 Having read this, without doing the exercises, now I'm going to read it again more slowly and do the exercises。 I've already started implementing some changes to be myself, only better。 I'm so glad I got my own copy of this -- I knew while I was reading the library copy that I was going to need one of my own。 。。。more

Wat basic uitleg over zelfinzicht en hoe je leven meer vorm geven op een manier die bij je past。 Kan je wel aan het denken zetten maar bleef voor mij veel te oppervlakkig。
