Disappointed。 The cast was weak, but I loved the other books。 Sally was a nothing, and I found all of them disjointed。

I just love these books。 They are quick and interesting reads and I feel like the characters pop off the page。 I read it in 6 hours because I couldn’t put it down。 Ha ha。

I might have given this one 5 stars - except for the cliff-hanger ending!!! Fans of the series will appreciate Christopher's newest antics as he returns to London and receives an anonymous letter with a code and hidden message in it。 I might have given this one 5 stars - except for the cliff-hanger ending!!! Amazing This is what my twelve year old wrote。 Keeps you into the book the whole way, when it starts getting a little boring you get back in by a twist。 At 50% it is very engaging。 Would recommend reading previous books, but you don’t have to。 I haven’t read the previous books in a while but caught on。 Those books are great too, must reads。 There isn’t as much apothecary stuff in this book so if you don’t want that there isn’t as much。 Must read this。 Hope my twelve year olds description helps!

This was a good read。 Christopher receives more letters and needs to solve the puzzles。 Things end up going differently than he had planned。 Luckily everything is fine for now。 However, the ending sets you up for another book。

Christopher and his friends are so delightful to read about。 Looking forward to their next adventure。 :)

This continues the tradition of a rollicking plot full of action and escapes, great ciphers, and lovable characters, with a bit of budding romance thrown in。 A great continuation of this series。

This takes place shortly after the previous book ends。 The story involves a series of riddles, a secret, and murder。 There is plenty of action to keep things interesting and a hint of a future romance or two。 The way this ended has me excited for the next book。 Most of the mystery in this book was resolved by the end, but a few things were left open--the Raven。

(3。5☆) I can't believe this is the penultimate installment of the series and by far the weakest one。 First of all, it's short。 The time setting barely covered a week。 I wish for Christohper to have a good break。 (Which I doubt he will until the last book)。 Second, the characters。 I was hoping to learn more of the characters from previous books。 But naah。 I understand why, but I'm just yearning for more。 This yearning comes for Ashcombe。 Like you basically gifted me a badass character and I barel (3。5☆) I can't believe this is the penultimate installment of the series and by far the weakest one。 First of all, it's short。 The time setting barely covered a week。 I wish for Christohper to have a good break。 (Which I doubt he will until the last book)。 Second, the characters。 I was hoping to learn more of the characters from previous books。 But naah。 I understand why, but I'm just yearning for more。 This yearning comes for Ashcombe。 Like you basically gifted me a badass character and I barely know much of him (aside from his training, and his duty to the crown etc)。 I wanna know dumb information。 Something that make him-- him!! Kind of lowkey disappointed that sudden loss of his eye and some of fingers, never did any effect to his character。 He's just is。 Tell me mooooore please。 Especially now, they added a new character, Walsingham-- I was so excited to learn something about him。 But it's still left in the dark。 I hope we get to know more of him in the last book。 Anyways, can't wait for the next book。。。 which will take。。。 a long time。 But it's okay。 I'm patient。 I can wait。 。。。more

An ok addition to the series, but it seemed to be missing something (book 3 is still my favorite)。 My main disappointment was that Sally- the only female character in the entire 5 book series- was hardly in this book at all。 Her role was so diminished in this book that she mostly just ran errands for Christopher, and took care of (and cleaned up after) the men around her。 I'm hoping the developments at the end will give her more page- time in the next book, and more importance in the story (othe An ok addition to the series, but it seemed to be missing something (book 3 is still my favorite)。 My main disappointment was that Sally- the only female character in the entire 5 book series- was hardly in this book at all。 Her role was so diminished in this book that she mostly just ran errands for Christopher, and took care of (and cleaned up after) the men around her。 I'm hoping the developments at the end will give her more page- time in the next book, and more importance in the story (other than the fact the she is pretty and marriageable, which was brought up repeatedly by various characters。 Sigh。)。 As the only female character, she deserves better。 The romance development felt forced, especially since the two in question hardly had any time together, and no time alone。 。。。more

Absolutely love Kevin Sands。 This book, like the previous four, kept you engaged and invested。

This is a middle-grade series, but it has lots of crossover appeal for adults。 Set in the 1600s, the old medical care, apothecary and chemist receipts, and world building are all very well done。 The whole family enjoys the riddles and mysteries (easier to work out if you're reading the print or e-book versions) and the audiobook narrator is perfect。This book was left open at the end for book six, but it wasn't a cliffhanger。 *FYI if your kiddo scares easily, all the books have murder and some vi This is a middle-grade series, but it has lots of crossover appeal for adults。 Set in the 1600s, the old medical care, apothecary and chemist receipts, and world building are all very well done。 The whole family enjoys the riddles and mysteries (easier to work out if you're reading the print or e-book versions) and the audiobook narrator is perfect。This book was left open at the end for book six, but it wasn't a cliffhanger。 *FYI if your kiddo scares easily, all the books have murder and some violence。 。。。more

Gosh this felt so short—too short!Christopher and Tom are as hilarious as ever。 Ashcombe is always as done as ever。 So much fun crammed into so little time, I love it! This series is a thing you know won’t disappoint, and the fact that we’re getting a sixth book is just JAKXJAJSKDJ keyboard-smashing exciting。

Temperance

Another amazing addition to the Series, but the book feels so much shorter than the others。

The ending was shocking! Love the puzzles。 I think I have a clue as to who the raven is, but I could be wrong。

It was the long-waited fifth volume and I really enjoyed it - from the first sentence, it was exactly as expected! (As always, Christopher loves explosives too much。。!) I personally like the King’s character and can’t stop smiling though there are a lot of twist and turns as always。

This was so fun, and I'm devastated to learn in the author's note that the next book will finish the series。 Still, all these books have good re-read value。 Making Charles II a main character was a brilliant move by Sands; he is good value。 This was so fun, and I'm devastated to learn in the author's note that the next book will finish the series。 Still, all these books have good re-read value。 Making Charles II a main character was a brilliant move by Sands; he is good value。 。。。more

Best series EVER!!I've loved this series from the 1st book。 I've checked several times over the last year to see if there was another book written in the series, or if the author had written anything else。 I feared I would have to be content with just the 1st 4 books, when I got the notice from Amazon that this was available。So briefly about the series。 Think of Sherlock Holmes in the middle ages。 Christopher Rowe is an apothecary's apprentice in the 1660s with a brilliant brain, two loyal frien Best series EVER!!I've loved this series from the 1st book。 I've checked several times over the last year to see if there was another book written in the series, or if the author had written anything else。 I feared I would have to be content with just the 1st 4 books, when I got the notice from Amazon that this was available。So briefly about the series。 Think of Sherlock Holmes in the middle ages。 Christopher Rowe is an apothecary's apprentice in the 1660s with a brilliant brain, two loyal friends in Tom & Sally, a pigeon named Bridget, and a penchant for accidentally blowing things up。 Here's the opening of this book, which will give you an idea of what Christopher's life is like。IT WAS AN ACCIDENT,” I said。 The carriage burned with a bright orange flame。 Fire raged across its body, the silk curtains fluttering through the windows in smoking tatters to the road。 The frame turned charcoal black, while inside, the stuffing in the seats gave bright flashing bursts as buttons popped off the upholstery。 Tom clutched his cheeks in horror。 “I told you,” he said, staring at the slowly crumpling carriage, our boots sinking in the mud。 “I told you。” The heat drove away the late winter’s chill, but I wouldn’t have felt it anyway。 My face was burning with shame。 “It was an accident。” “I told you。” 。。。more
