Summary

Potty training can be crappy--but it doesn't have to be。 You CAN potty train your child, and you can teach them the basics in just 3 days。 So take a deep breath, keep your chin up, and put your game face on。 You are the parent。 You can do this。

Potty training is not easy。 You might feel overwhelmed after repeated unsuccessful potty training efforts, or even clueless about how to get your little stinker to go in the potty。 Either way, you've found the right book。 Potty Training in 3 Days is a simple guide to potty training your child for the first, last, and only time。

During her many years working as a nanny, Brandi Brucks had no clue that your child's -business- would end up being her business, too。 But after caring for numerous children of potty training age one thing had become abundantly clear--potty training was her calling。 She's successfully potty trained more than a hundred children, and she's helped their parents get through it without losing their minds。

Yes, potty training is tough。 But Brandi knows that parents are tough, too。 Potty Training in 3 Days outlines her intensive, effective potty training method with clarity, humor, and understanding。 Consider this book your potty trainer for hire that will be by your side before, during, and after your child's potty training。

BEFORE--Know what signs mean it's potty training time, how to set the tone for fun and success, and the key phrases that will help your big kid in training the most。

DURING--From ditching the diapers to pushing the fluids, and bathroom reminders to accident rescues--this is what you've been preparing for。 It will be fun。 It will be challenging。 It will be worth it。 It's only 3 days--you've got this。

AFTER--You made it! (almost) These tried and true techniques for nighttime accident prevention, going potty at school, and more will make sure that all of your hard work pays off with potty training that lasts。
Let Brandi's hard earned wisdom take the guesswork out of potty training your child。 Read the book, choose your days, keep up on your work--you'll soon be able to count yourself as one of the many parents who've learned that potty training can be as simple as 1, 2, 3。

Eh。 There’s some good tips in this book and it’s a quick read so that makes it worth it。 However there are some pretty big holes in the content and so much is just opinion。

The methods in this book did not work for us we tried them and it was a disaster。 My husband dug out another child care book by a pediatrician that we already had that had a section on potty training。 It basically was the complete opposite of this method and it worked ok。 However, to be fair I think that this probably would work well for an only/first child; which the author notes, are the bulk of her clients。 This could also work well if you had older children who could be left alone for 10 min The methods in this book did not work for us we tried them and it was a disaster。 My husband dug out another child care book by a pediatrician that we already had that had a section on potty training。 It basically was the complete opposite of this method and it worked ok。 However, to be fair I think that this probably would work well for an only/first child; which the author notes, are the bulk of her clients。 This could also work well if you had older children who could be left alone for 10 min or so at a time。 Our biggest was that the method in this book requires you not to leave the kid’s side for 3 days, and not to go anywhere or do anything。 You load them up with liquids and watch to see when they go and put them on the pot on demand。 Our problem is we have 2 close in age。 I couldn’t stay with him the whole time and inevitably one kid would be peeing on the floor about the same time the other one had just figured out how to open the baby proof lock on the knife drawer。 Also, we had major issues with sibling rivalry。 One kid couldn’t understand why the one getting potty trained got MM and they didn’t。 So every trip to the bathroom was accompanied by a full blown tantrum and hitting by both kids。 It was three days of misery。 So in the end, we ended up getting a small potty, scheduling potty breaks, and we started doing only big kid underwear for a few hours at a time and gradually increasing it。 These are all the things she said not to do。 And to her credit, potty training this way will take a lot longer, but my sanity is worth it。 I also agree with several of the other reviewers here that the author seemed a little too condescending to parents。 Especially if you had tried any other methods besides the one she was recommending。 I found this a little off putting, especially when her method didn’t work for me。 So in short, I think this book has some merit and her method might work for you。 But I am a firm believer in the fact that all kids and all situations are different and will therefore often require different approaches。 。。。more

Great 1-day primer on this whole deal。 It was nice to punch through and come away with (undue) confidence。 Once we were in the thick of it, this was absolutely not enough detail。 So, we ended up just winging it, but I think there’s enough here to get a start。 It’d be nice if there was an “obsessive over planner engineer dad” version that’s about 200-pages longer。

Quick, efficient readQuick easy and to the point without excess information。 Great for reference in the future。 Ideally for parents and caregivers。

Potty training my first (without this book) was a nightmare。 I used this method with my second。 She’s only 2。5 and she hasn’t had an accident since the three day training window。 Game changer。

Meh, it's fine。 I read this in one sitting。 We'll give it a try and see how it goes! I've lately been a bit annoyed with parenting books/podcasts promoted by non-expert laypeople with dubious claims to authority - I'd really prefer a pediatrician。 Or Emily Oster! HAHAHA。 I love it。 It's basically puppy training。- No TV, unless you watch it with them。- No going outside on Day 1。 (Why? Isn't it easier to let them frolic pantsless in the yard?)- Make everyone else who watches your child do these steps too (co-parents, daycare/childcare providers, etc)。 Bah。 We'll see。 This is my favorite potty training tutorial ever, fwiw。 。。。more

This is a quick, easy read, and is laid out in an aesthetically appealing way (I’m a graphic designer so I appreciate these things on a deep level, haha)。 I have twin toddlers I’m attempting to potty train in the next month or so, and I have to admit。。。。I’ve been dreading potty training since before they were even born。 That being said, this book makes it seem doable, and (hopefully) not so daunting。 I will update my review after I have tried out Brandi’s methods with my twins this summer。 Wish This is a quick, easy read, and is laid out in an aesthetically appealing way (I’m a graphic designer so I appreciate these things on a deep level, haha)。 I have twin toddlers I’m attempting to potty train in the next month or so, and I have to admit。。。。I’ve been dreading potty training since before they were even born。 That being said, this book makes it seem doable, and (hopefully) not so daunting。 I will update my review after I have tried out Brandi’s methods with my twins this summer。 Wish us all luck! 。。。more

Not really sure this method will work for us, naked for a couple days is difficult with our busy schedules。 I still found this book to be a valuable resource and using some of the pointers in our long-term approach。

I read in a review that this book was for babies/toddlers from 20 months to 30 months which apparently is complete nonsense because the author explicitly mentions this book is not for kids under the age of 2。 Not the author’s fault but it made the book mostly useless to me (my kid is 18 months and I want to do toilet training over the summer)。 The low rating however is 100% for the super judging tone in which this book is written。 I’m sure the author was just trying to get some humor in, but rat I read in a review that this book was for babies/toddlers from 20 months to 30 months which apparently is complete nonsense because the author explicitly mentions this book is not for kids under the age of 2。 Not the author’s fault but it made the book mostly useless to me (my kid is 18 months and I want to do toilet training over the summer)。 The low rating however is 100% for the super judging tone in which this book is written。 I’m sure the author was just trying to get some humor in, but rather than a “we’ve all been there” tone (which she pretty much only talks about with regards to alcohol as a coping strategy) she talks about how many parents do things the wrong way, or how they could be stupid enough to do xyz。 。。。more

This was really helpful in starting the potty training process with my daughter。 Almost everything worked like the book said it would, and I recommend it to all of my mom friends。 I found it super informative while still being a quick read。 One thing it didn't talk about though was how to do nap/quiet time if you have to have your eyes on them constantly。 I ended up foregoing naps for the first few days。 Also, I would recommend having a second source to go to as well。 I discovered that while thi This was really helpful in starting the potty training process with my daughter。 Almost everything worked like the book said it would, and I recommend it to all of my mom friends。 I found it super informative while still being a quick read。 One thing it didn't talk about though was how to do nap/quiet time if you have to have your eyes on them constantly。 I ended up foregoing naps for the first few days。 Also, I would recommend having a second source to go to as well。 I discovered that while this book was great in starting the process, it wasn't helpful in continuing potty training for the long haul。 。。。more

To the point and invaluable adviceRead this book the day before beginning potty training and I am so glad I did! This book provides the perfect level of instruction and justification / reasoning behind each part of how you should approach potty training, giving the reader the context necessary to truly learn and apply the recommendations。 In 4 days I potty trained my 23 month old。 If it weren’t for this book I probably would have given up after day 1。。。 or 2!! Definitely worth the time and money

I recently got a new job as a head preschool teacher in a 3 year old classroom。 The room I was in before required students to be potty trained, however that was not a requirement at this center。 So I find myself in a situation with children at different stages of potty training and little experience myself。 One of the mothers who seemed to have the most success swears by this book and my boss actually bought a copy for us。 It has a lot of great ideas and even some that I can use at school。 Unfor I recently got a new job as a head preschool teacher in a 3 year old classroom。 The room I was in before required students to be potty trained, however that was not a requirement at this center。 So I find myself in a situation with children at different stages of potty training and little experience myself。 One of the mothers who seemed to have the most success swears by this book and my boss actually bought a copy for us。 It has a lot of great ideas and even some that I can use at school。 Unfortunately for me, much of this really needs to take place at the home。 But I will gladly support any families that want to implement this idea。 I want all my parents to read it!The reason it is 4 stars for me is because I can't speak on the subject from much experience myself。 But from what I see, this is the real deal。 。。。more

I didn't want to rate or review this book until we had some time to test it out。 Luckily a very cold and rainy holiday weekend made for the perfect 3 days to attempt potty training a very active 2。5-year-old。 I love how short this book is! Proud parent over here。 I know each family is different, but this method really did work for us。 I'm sure we'll still have accidents- especially as we venture out of the house and back to the park or in stores, but I am feeling much more hopeful than I was going into it。 。。。more

Clear and Concise To be clear the rating is for the book itself and not whether or not her strategy worked。 After 5 minutes of reading I realized my 18 month old wasn't ready yet and by the end of the book I realized I wasn't ready。 There is prep work involved, constant surveillance, and continual maintenance。 This strategy can be effective but only if carried out by an adult faithfully。 Will be reading again in 3 months in preparation of official training season (summer)。 Hopefully I can report Clear and Concise To be clear the rating is for the book itself and not whether or not her strategy worked。 After 5 minutes of reading I realized my 18 month old wasn't ready yet and by the end of the book I realized I wasn't ready。 There is prep work involved, constant surveillance, and continual maintenance。 This strategy can be effective but only if carried out by an adult faithfully。 Will be reading again in 3 months in preparation of official training season (summer)。 Hopefully I can report back with some good news。 The book itself is clear and concise while providing you with answers for those。。。。"but what if 。。。?" questions。 。。。more

Great intro to potty training!I loved how short and simple each segment was。 It was a quick and easy read and very informative。 It gave me a lot to think about with regard to potty training my first child。 I’m not sure if this method will work for us, but it was a great intro to the subject!

Worked wellDefinitely not potty trained in three days。 Still has accidents on occasion but definitely a great book and helped us。 I’d say we were trained in three days and then over a course of a month we were going to no accidents but maybe once a week if that。 Pooh took a little longer but not much。 Definitely worth the read。 I was scared to death about potty training and this book helped。 Definitely recommend just letting your child run around in underwear for the first three days。
