Summary

'What kind of circus is only open at night?'

The circus arrives without warning。 No announcements precede it。 It is simply there, when yesterday it was not。 The black sign, painted in white letters that hangs upon the gates, reads:
Opens at Nightfall
Closes at Dawn

As dusk shifts to twilight, tiny lights begin to flicker all over the tents, as though the whole of the circus is covered in fireflies。 When the tents are aglow, sparkling against the night sky, the sign lights up:
Le Cirque des Rêves
The Circus of Dreams。

The gates shudder and unlock, seemingly by their own volition。 They swing outward, inviting the crowd inside。
Now the circus is open。
Now you may enter。

This was one I almost put down while reading, but I did finish, and it wasn't worth it。 I feel there was potential here, but it just never grabbed a hold of me。 There was always this feeling if I just read a little more, it might finally get there。 It never did。 This was one I almost put down while reading, but I did finish, and it wasn't worth it。 I feel there was potential here, but it just never grabbed a hold of me。 There was always this feeling if I just read a little more, it might finally get there。 It never did。 。。。more

4。5 stars。I really enjoyed riding the rollercoaster that was this book。 It overlaps, it takes some narrow turns all while the scenario around you makes you forget you are in a rollercoaster at all。There are some quotes I will take with me from this book, some life lessons too。The only reason I don’t give this book 5 stars is because of how confusing it can become, and how underwhelming the ending was。But other than that, this book was amazing, i even read it in less than a week

I really enjoyed this book and will definitely re-read it。 Some of the plot was predictable but I enjoyed it anyways because it was interesting how things play out。

this was an incredibly boring book and i wish i had never picked it up。 Nothing Ever Happens in it。

4。5*I love the writing style of this book。 The mix between second and third person writing caught my fancy very well, and although I normally despise jumping between time, it worked VERY well in this situation。 This book has an amazing feel while reading it (addressing the reader really allows full immersion)。 I docked half a star for occasional confusion and unwillingness to read on my part, as well as some very slow pieces, but I believe that much of that is my own personal experience, so I hi 4。5*I love the writing style of this book。 The mix between second and third person writing caught my fancy very well, and although I normally despise jumping between time, it worked VERY well in this situation。 This book has an amazing feel while reading it (addressing the reader really allows full immersion)。 I docked half a star for occasional confusion and unwillingness to read on my part, as well as some very slow pieces, but I believe that much of that is my own personal experience, so I highly recommend reading this book! 。。。more

Hold me together, I am breaking。 I finished The Night Circus。 😭"You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul。 Becomes their blood and self and purpose。 That tale will move them and drive them, and who knows what they may do because of it, because of your words。 That is your role, your gift"I am so sorry I left it on my TBR pile for so long。 Wow, oh wow。I loved how every storyline weaved together so beautifully in the end, such masterful storytelling is always a joy to come acros Hold me together, I am breaking。 I finished The Night Circus。 😭"You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul。 Becomes their blood and self and purpose。 That tale will move them and drive them, and who knows what they may do because of it, because of your words。 That is your role, your gift"I am so sorry I left it on my TBR pile for so long。 Wow, oh wow。I loved how every storyline weaved together so beautifully in the end, such masterful storytelling is always a joy to come across。I'd recommend this book if you love sweeping tales filled with magic, and slow burn love stories。 This is more character driven than plot driven as well, with a lot of the action happening towards the end。 。。。more

It was a really fast and enjoyable read。 It was the first book I read in a long time that truly interested me and kept me reading。 I would recommend it to anyone who loves fiction

What I loved about this book was the whole concept of the circus and the way it was described throughout the book。 I felt myself transported to this magical place, almost as if I had been there myself at some point in my life。 However, the real plot of the book including the main romance just did not interest me as much and I found myself mostly care about minor details, places and characters rather than the story itself, which made it really hard for me to rate the book now。 I wish I could have What I loved about this book was the whole concept of the circus and the way it was described throughout the book。 I felt myself transported to this magical place, almost as if I had been there myself at some point in my life。 However, the real plot of the book including the main romance just did not interest me as much and I found myself mostly care about minor details, places and characters rather than the story itself, which made it really hard for me to rate the book now。 I wish I could have read a different story in the same setting。 。。。more

An overall enjoyable book with detailed writing。 A mix of fantasy and romance。 This would make for a good beach read。The story line was a little scattered for me at times and didn’t fully come together in a way that gave clarity on everything but still a fun read

Different from anything I've read before。 Slow burn love。 Goes back and forth in time, which make it a little harder to me get invested in it。 Not my favorite book in the world, but it's pretty great。 Different from anything I've read before。 Slow burn love。 Goes back and forth in time, which make it a little harder to me get invested in it。 Not my favorite book in the world, but it's pretty great。 。。。more

the awe i felt with each description of the circus, i wish i could experience it myself。 this built me up throughout the book, and i loved the detail for things such as the clock。 I didn't really enjoy the ending? Ride the Circus train with no regretsI will tell you nothing about the book because the book details already do that。 Rather, I will describe the feelings this book evoked。 I could not put this book down and that is saying something given that I struggle with stories with alternating timelines。 Absolutely adored the tone and almost philosophical musing。 Despite knowing where the train is heading you are enthralled and enticed to go along for the ride。 Take a ride and I hope you enjoy the show as Ride the Circus train with no regretsI will tell you nothing about the book because the book details already do that。 Rather, I will describe the feelings this book evoked。 I could not put this book down and that is saying something given that I struggle with stories with alternating timelines。 Absolutely adored the tone and almost philosophical musing。 Despite knowing where the train is heading you are enthralled and enticed to go along for the ride。 Take a ride and I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did。 Well done Morgenstern! 。。。more

I found this book hard to get into 。 Then about 100 pages in I was drawn into the story but basically I lost the will to live as it became too fantastical to follow really 。 Now reaching the end I see the author thought it was a mess until his editor helped him。 I felt he should have lost about another 250 pages and it would have been a much better read。File under adult ghost stories 。 Question Was it inspired by Barnum and Baileys famous circus?

Giselle

There are no words。 There are physically no words that I can use to describe how good this book was。 There was intrigue, mystery, magic, romance。 This book had it all。 The writing was enchanting and the characters were complex and so interesting。 I needed to know more。 The way I wish the circus actually existed so that I could visit it。 Even just once。 This book pulled me in body and soul。 Go read it right now!

The Circus arrives without warning。 I'd say the same about this book。 It should have been something like 'Warning: might get addicted and emotionally attached。' "The finest of pleasures are always the unexpected ones。"The flow of the book is almost, dare I say, magical。 No, I'm not kidding。 I should not have enjoyed this book this much。 But this book captured me。 The writing style is so beautiful。 Erin Morgenstern has mastered the art of storytelling。 For the first time, I appreciated multiple P The Circus arrives without warning。 I'd say the same about this book。 It should have been something like 'Warning: might get addicted and emotionally attached。' "The finest of pleasures are always the unexpected ones。"The flow of the book is almost, dare I say, magical。 No, I'm not kidding。 I should not have enjoyed this book this much。 But this book captured me。 The writing style is so beautiful。 Erin Morgenstern has mastered the art of storytelling。 For the first time, I appreciated multiple POVs。 The descriptions were so good I could imagine EVERYTHING。 You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose。 That tale will move them and drive them and who knows that they might do because of it, because of your words。 That is your role, your gift。 A forbidden love between magician enemies while building a circus bound to end in death? Who wouldn't want this? I finished this book in two days and immediately regretted finishing it so fast。 I would give anything to read this book for the first time again。 I remember reading this book in the dim light in the peace of raindrop sounds on my window, but I was so into the book that I never even noticed when the clouds parted and the sun slowly dipped down to the night sky。 This book made me feel something I haven't felt in a long time。 It made me remember my love for Fantasy again。 And I'm pretty sure that it has morphed my personality to a mix of Celia's and Poppet's。 But dreams have ways of turning into nightmares。 It's been almost 4 days since I finished this book and I still can't put into words this feeling I felt at the ending。 I still fail to determine if it was happy and sad。 The only right word for it is。。。magical。 That's it for now。 If you need me, I'll be in my room trying to break things and put them back together or reading the stars。 。。。more

My favourite aspect of this book was it's imagery。 The contrast of a black and white night circus with the moments of pure colour was absolutely fantastic。 Unfortunately I was not as thrilled with the changes between time amongst the chapters。 Especially when reading on a kindle, you can't just flip back to the pages to constantly be checking what year you are meant to be in, and even then it only oriented the reader with very small text beneath the chapter's heading。 Really I wanted to give 3。5 My favourite aspect of this book was it's imagery。 The contrast of a black and white night circus with the moments of pure colour was absolutely fantastic。 Unfortunately I was not as thrilled with the changes between time amongst the chapters。 Especially when reading on a kindle, you can't just flip back to the pages to constantly be checking what year you are meant to be in, and even then it only oriented the reader with very small text beneath the chapter's heading。 Really I wanted to give 3。5 stars but I'll add an extra half star because I am a hopeless romantic。 ;) 。。。more

Reading this was like putting together an elaborate puzzle。 It was very entertaining and keep me interested page after page。 I’m still left with lingering questions, but feel satisfied with the ending。 Never knew I liked historical fantasy until now…

Jun。 2021: 5⭐️All I knew going into this was that it had a circus, romance, and seemingly every person on the planet loved it。 I am now one of those people。 I cannot believe this was a debut because HOW do you write a book like this on your first try??? Ms。 Morgenstern are you a magician?

I personally loved this book despite it being very different o my usual taste。 This book has little action and a lot of magic, very whimsical and poetically descriptive which was very captivating to me, but it does have an emotional intensity to it。 A lot of tension between characters, good and bad, which keeps it interesting。 I am someone that enjoys 'magic' that almost has a scientific feel to it, like anything Brandon Sanderson writes。 But this book has nearly no rules to magic and that is un I personally loved this book despite it being very different o my usual taste。 This book has little action and a lot of magic, very whimsical and poetically descriptive which was very captivating to me, but it does have an emotional intensity to it。 A lot of tension between characters, good and bad, which keeps it interesting。 I am someone that enjoys 'magic' that almost has a scientific feel to it, like anything Brandon Sanderson writes。 But this book has nearly no rules to magic and that is unusual but nice。 People who like poetry will like this book, I feel。 。。。more

The writing of this novel is truly magical because it felt as if I were visiting the circus。 I could imagine some of the descriptions of the tents and events to be scenes of a movie。 Given this though, there were a lot of moments that were slow。 I accidentally misplaced my bookmark and started reading 50 pages from where I left off but didn’t even realize because not much progress was made in terms of the plot。 I did go back to where I originally was but didn’t feel that I had to。 I think that s The writing of this novel is truly magical because it felt as if I were visiting the circus。 I could imagine some of the descriptions of the tents and events to be scenes of a movie。 Given this though, there were a lot of moments that were slow。 I accidentally misplaced my bookmark and started reading 50 pages from where I left off but didn’t even realize because not much progress was made in terms of the plot。 I did go back to where I originally was but didn’t feel that I had to。 I think that someone who loves imagery and needs a break from action would enjoy this book。 。。。more
