A fine little read。 Nothing groundbreaking。 A whole lot of semi-scientific observations about body language, some typos, some weird pop culture references, and not a whole lot of insight。Still vaguely interesting though。

This book is really flawed in my opinion。 It doesn’t go in detail of how he came to his observations。 All the signs he wrote are written down in a line or 5 where all he does is link it to things as anxiety, stress or fear。 I would nog recommend this book

Very interesting facts to read about body language。 I didn’t expect the whole book to be definitions and listed almost as dot points。 But an easy read :)

3。5☆ A little bit hard and jumpy to follow, especially if you just read the audiobook but what can i say - i love body language

I enjoyed this。 It's exactly what it says - a dictionary for body language。 It goes through each body part。 Some of it is basic actions most people know what they mean, some a little more complicated, and then some are based on different cultures and what they represent。 This is a 5 hour audio book。 If you want something with more content, check out Joe Navarro's book "What EveryBODY is Saying"。 That one was excellent。 I enjoyed this。 It's exactly what it says - a dictionary for body language。 It goes through each body part。 Some of it is basic actions most people know what they mean, some a little more complicated, and then some are based on different cultures and what they represent。 This is a 5 hour audio book。 If you want something with more content, check out Joe Navarro's book "What EveryBODY is Saying"。 That one was excellent。 。。。more

This was recommended by a friend after I told him I am slow to notice the body language。 I got what I was looking for — a quick guide to understanding nonverbal cues。 •The book is literally a dictionary。 Common gestures and their interpreted underlying causes are listed for each body part。 •This is the book I’ll come back to when I find myself too slow to take hints in social situations。 •A good book that delivers what it promises。•Time spent reading: 3 hours

Good to know from this book for better self-understanding with a positive attitude and behaviour。

A really great practical guide that goes over small tics and movements in every part of the body and what they can tell you。 I honestly have nothing bad to say about this book and it was a fun read。

Absolutely dreadful。 This book is only useful to someone who has no ability to recognize social cues whatsoever。 Most of the information provided is simply common sense。 To top that off, when talking about certain actions, the author tries to explain them in detail but fails miserably。 Surely there must have been someone in the editorial process that suggested adding a few images to help make it clearer。 The only good parts of this book are the introductory paragraphs at the start of every chapt Absolutely dreadful。 This book is only useful to someone who has no ability to recognize social cues whatsoever。 Most of the information provided is simply common sense。 To top that off, when talking about certain actions, the author tries to explain them in detail but fails miserably。 Surely there must have been someone in the editorial process that suggested adding a few images to help make it clearer。 The only good parts of this book are the introductory paragraphs at the start of every chapter, too bad they only consist like five percent of the book。 Given the author's life experience I was expecting a much more in-depth analysis of various non-verbal communications。 What we are left with is the author simply laying out various actions and summing them up as being caused by stress 90 percent of the time。 It is called "The Dictionary of Body Language" so I was not expecting a literary masterpiece but the flow in this book is horrendous。 You might as well pick up a real dictionary where you will actually learn a thing or two。 Simply put, don't waste your money。 。。。more

Succinctly describing the motivating force behind the men and women of the Federal Bureau of Investigation as fidelity, bravery, and integrity suggests that the FBI is an action packed place to work。 Author Joe Navarro spent 25 years in what John Grisham calls the 'Fibbies' and opines in THE DICTIONARY OF BODY LANGUAGE that FBI work is, for the most part, about making observations。 This is not good news for the bad guys, as our bodies reveal very accurately, in real time [via comfort markers Succinctly describing the motivating force behind the men and women of the Federal Bureau of Investigation as fidelity, bravery, and integrity suggests that the FBI is an action packed place to work。 Author Joe Navarro spent 25 years in what John Grisham calls the 'Fibbies' and opines in THE DICTIONARY OF BODY LANGUAGE that FBI work is, for the most part, about making observations。 This is not good news for the bad guys, as our bodies reveal very accurately, in real time [via comfort markers or behaviors], our state of unease。 It's just a matter of knowing where to look and open your eyes to what you're seeing。 You have to learn to read all over again, if you will。Since the new CLARICE (2021) series just launched, an offshoot of Thomas Harris's seminal THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1988), THE DICTIONARY OF BODY LANGUAGE is an even more apt read, as Joe Navarro spent at least half of his FBI tenure with the NS-BAP, the National Security Behavioral Analysis Program。 This book, however, does not include any anecdotes of criminals or terrorists caught and interrogated。 Navarro confines this book into bodily sections and what behaviors could suggest or be telling of。 Naturally, he cautions, that these gestures, behaviors etc depend on context。 So, exercise caution in trying to apply these tell-tale signs of human behavior to loved ones, co-workers or the grocery store employees telling you that the supply of TP has been exhausted。 25 years of chasing and interrogating spies, terrorists, and criminals make Joe Navarro an expert on reading human behavior and expressions - the rest of us better keep his book close by as a reference manual and make do。 。。。more

Interesting read on nonverbal communication, although not sure I always agree with Mr Navarro。 Nonverbals he describes as being indicative of being deceptive or trying to hide something, I do when sitting on the couch reading a romance novel。 But then again, who am I to argue with a former FBI agent with decades of experience in deciphering the body language of thousands of people。 Some of the nonverbal communication he describes is pretty much common sense or things that everyone is aware of an Interesting read on nonverbal communication, although not sure I always agree with Mr Navarro。 Nonverbals he describes as being indicative of being deceptive or trying to hide something, I do when sitting on the couch reading a romance novel。 But then again, who am I to argue with a former FBI agent with decades of experience in deciphering the body language of thousands of people。 Some of the nonverbal communication he describes is pretty much common sense or things that everyone is aware of and has witnessed/experienced, so a number of observations described in the book are nothing new。 Having said all that, it is an intriguing subject and I will read Mr Navarro’s other books at same stage。 3。0 -3。5 stars 。。。more

There is not much new here if you have read Joe Navarro's "What Every Body is Saying"。 It is a disappointment because it is a bit of a missed opportunity。 There could have been pictures or diagrams or more references to mainstream scenes。 There is not much new here if you have read Joe Navarro's "What Every Body is Saying"。 It is a disappointment because it is a bit of a missed opportunity。 There could have been pictures or diagrams or more references to mainstream scenes。 。。。more

。。。more

Format was great I just was not in a good mood to read it and properly digest the information。 I feel this is a book to buy so I can really take my time with it instead of rush through。 Loved learning about Joe Navarro and his experiences as an FBI agent。 Unfortunately I did not have enough time to read this book as I would have liked but I will be reading it again thoroughly。

extremely interesting topic。 execution。。。 not so great。overall, this was an enjoyable read, although greatly obvious at times。 if you are already familiar with the work of paul ekmann, don't bother。 i'm surprised i haven't seen anyone else mention it in the reviews (apologies if i'm wrong), but the book sometimes have hints of sexism, even though it was published fairly recently - in 2018。 e。g。 'manspreading' or stating that most women will sit with their knees together because it's the conventi extremely interesting topic。 execution。。。 not so great。overall, this was an enjoyable read, although greatly obvious at times。 if you are already familiar with the work of paul ekmann, don't bother。 i'm surprised i haven't seen anyone else mention it in the reviews (apologies if i'm wrong), but the book sometimes have hints of sexism, even though it was published fairly recently - in 2018。 e。g。 'manspreading' or stating that most women will sit with their knees together because it's the conventional norm - it's the 21st century, maybe let's acknowledge the fact that women don't only wear dresses anymore?。。。 。。。more
