A while ago， my son got a pair of roller skaters， supposedly from “Mr。 Santa Claus。” I had skated a little in my childhood， and thus seeing him take baby steps kindled a longing in my heart too， for those sunny activity periods in school， where you needn’t have worried apart from submitting your homework on time and choosingthe person you would take for the distribution of candies on your birthday。 Do you remember the honor it was to accompany the birthday girl/boy？🤣📖Needless to say， I too got a A while ago， my son got a pair of roller skaters， supposedly from “Mr。 Santa Claus。” I had skated a little in my childhood， and thus seeing him take baby steps kindled a longing in my heart too， for those sunny activity periods in school， where you needn’t have worried apart from submitting your homework on time and choosingthe person you would take for the distribution of candies on your birthday。 Do you remember the honor it was to accompany the birthday girl/boy？🤣📖Needless to say， I too got a pair of skates and after a period of 15 years， went to the neighborhood skating ramp。 As I stumbled in the unfamiliar liner skates， and fell on my rump， quite painfully， I seriously doubted my motives。 When my teeth gnashed against the railing， there were real tears glittering in my eyes， and for one moment I thought I had broken my front two teeth。 And then this 4 year old stood in front of me， peering into my face， blinking his eyes，urging me to stand up and be brave。📖I got up， pressing my fingers against the teeth in order to ensure their place in my mouth。 And not to be a killjoy， I started finding my way in these new liner skates。 After one or two tries， soon it all came back to me。 I started swaying in the wind。 My hands were up in the air， flailing during the turns but otherwise pretty comfortable。📖I can’t describe the elation， which I felt， while I laughed and fell with my son。 Here was a thing， which I loved。 Somewhere， along the way， we stop enjoying the things we loved， because well adulting happens。 Career happens。 Kids happen。 Out of the blue， all I needed was my son to make me start cruising， literally and figuratively。 And this is what I feel when I read CALVIN and HOBBES。📖I know I took a roundabout way of introducing you to the love of my life – Calvin and Hobbes。 If you have been following me long enough， you know the love I have for this comic series。 There have been many comic strips over the years， but nothing has pleased my heart more than this troublesome boy Calvin and his soft toy tiger named Hobbes。📖Read it， if you haven’t already。 No matter how crappy my day turns out， it always soothes my troubled soul。。 。。。more

It makes me mad to think of kids reading shit like Diary of a Wimpy kid， or whatever the hell they're selling kids nowadays， instead of this。 Calvin and Hobbes was a perfect read growing up。 It really understood being a kid without treating you like an idiot。 With stuff designed for kids growing more corporatised and more political， I think parents should just stick to this instead。 It makes me mad to think of kids reading shit like Diary of a Wimpy kid， or whatever the hell they're selling kids nowadays， instead of this。 Calvin and Hobbes was a perfect read growing up。 It really understood being a kid without treating you like an idiot。 With stuff designed for kids growing more corporatised and more political， I think parents should just stick to this instead。 。。。more
