I was really hovering between 3 and 4 stars but rounded up because of how lovely the ending was。 It left me with such a warm, comfortable feeling of closure。 The first book was phenomenal, while this one。。。 I don’t know, dragged a bit? It started off great。 I loved the scenes of Roz’s life on the farm and her growing bond with the children。 I especially loved the internal conflict (in a robot, go figure) Roz had at the thought of leaving the family behind。 After leaving the farm, however, there I was really hovering between 3 and 4 stars but rounded up because of how lovely the ending was。 It left me with such a warm, comfortable feeling of closure。 The first book was phenomenal, while this one。。。 I don’t know, dragged a bit? It started off great。 I loved the scenes of Roz’s life on the farm and her growing bond with the children。 I especially loved the internal conflict (in a robot, go figure) Roz had at the thought of leaving the family behind。 After leaving the farm, however, there were a lot of chapters that were pretty random and didn’t seem to propel the story forward in any meaningful way。 A good chunk of the middle almost seemed to have been added in order to make the story longer maybe? Anyway I won’t give any spoilers, but I’ll just say that the robot’s encounter near the end was sweet and thought provoking。 The last couple of chapters finally went back to feeling like the beginning, and even the first book, felt: sweet, descriptive, heart-warming。 。。。more

Such a fun middle grades novel。 I liked it just as much as the first one!

Brittany,
Absolutely love this book!
Kaylene,
I like that Peter Brown doesn't shy away from what could be difficult issues for kids。 The kids and I enjoyed this book, but it didn't have some of the magic that made the first book so special。 I like that Peter Brown doesn't shy away from what could be difficult issues for kids。 The kids and I enjoyed this book, but it didn't have some of the magic that made the first book so special。 。。。more
Joy,
Interesting, but would still like to know the authors worldview
Ken Gorst,
A great sequel which I listened to on talking book。Easily listened to in one sitting and lovely simple chapters。A great kids book。
Claire Bellington,
What an amazing story。 I truly didn’t think I could love a story about a robot, but these books took me there。 This sequel was even better than the first book。 I was impressed! My children loved it and we were a bit sad when it was over。
Sasha Kohls,

Amy,
So many moms rave about The Wild Robot, which I thought was ok, but not great。 However, I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel。 The author writes well and I thought this story line was much better than the first。
Stacie,
Good little sequel to The Wild Robot。 🤖 Roz is a good character and an interesting ambassador between humans and our machine companions。
Andrew,

Meredith,
A quick illustrated read。 It doesn't quite have the same charm as the first book, but was still interesting。 More likely could've been done with ethical farming (since Roz cares so much for animals), but this wouldn't make it super accessible to the book's main audience。 The author thoughtfully describes Roz's meeting with her maker and the robots inner monologue on selfhood and purpose。 A quick illustrated read。 It doesn't quite have the same charm as the first book, but was still interesting。 More likely could've been done with ethical farming (since Roz cares so much for animals), but this wouldn't make it super accessible to the book's main audience。 The author thoughtfully describes Roz's meeting with her maker and the robots inner monologue on selfhood and purpose。 。。。more
Amy Smith,
I have read this book to my third grade classroom for the past 3 years and every year, every class screams out reactions and begs for me to never close the book。 Peter Brown is a master of cliffhangers and this fanciful story teaches so many lessons on how to treat others, how to carry yourself, and the natural reactions that follow。
Jami,
This is the conclusion of the first book。 This was the rare instance where I enjoyed the sequel more than the first。 I love the characters; you definitely need to read book 1 to appreciate this one。
Becca,
I loved this book just as much as the first! Such a good read。 I loved the shorter chapter format that made this book easy to read for my seven year old。 He was enthralled the entire book。 We love Roz and Brightbill!
Alexander Hagen,
It was fine, nothing super special。 I believe children will be very into it as it’s more of an adventure story than the first。。 but I felt that the magic I felt from the first one was due to its setting in the wilderness with all of the animal friends and I felt let down that this one was mainly in city setting and more human interaction。 It was a fun closure to the story and brought up a lot of fun commentaries on humans。 I just didn’t love it like I did the first。
Sarah,
I think I loved the Wild Robot slightly more than this one, but that is only on deep thought。 It was still delightful, still great to listen to! Loved it。
Josh Peatfield,
A fitting sequel!
Mousumi Choudhury,
A fabulous sequel to the wonderful book 'The Wild Robot'。 The author really kept me intrigued by the plot and the cliffhanger moments。Highly recommend this book for middle graders for great storytelling and an equally great theme especially so in today's context。 A fabulous sequel to the wonderful book 'The Wild Robot'。 The author really kept me intrigued by the plot and the cliffhanger moments。Highly recommend this book for middle graders for great storytelling and an equally great theme especially so in today's context。 。。。more
Phebe May,
I couldn't like this book more than The Wild Robot but Peter Brown does a great job of exposing Roz's potential。 I LOVED the ending, it was incredibly heart warming。 I couldn't like this book more than The Wild Robot but Peter Brown does a great job of exposing Roz's potential。 I LOVED the ending, it was incredibly heart warming。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I loved the first one so my mom got me the second one to read。 In the first one I got teary eyed at the end but it happened so many times with this one! I cried happy, sad, and grateful tears! I love the children at Hiltop farm and I like the designer。 She made me cry when she said that they destroyed Roz。 Thankfully she was nice and did not do it。 Bright bill is still the same as always and I love him。 I love this book and love Roz so much! Rajiv R,
Amazing Sequel It was just as great as this first one。 I was heartwarming, heartfelt and happy。 I loved how original as well as unique this book was。
Max,
Like the first one, this was a fun adventure with enjoyable characters and some sweet moments。 Also a pretty original plot; I really had no idea how it was going to end and was quite caught up in it at several points。
Kendal,
The sequel couldn’t capture the same heart that book one had。 But it was cute。 The girls liked it better than I did though。
Ashley Ford,
Read aloud with the kids。 Loved hearing the end of Roz’s story。
Hannah,
I liked the first one more but I still loved this one too!
