Summary

Nature made Ash beautiful; Nurture made him a killer!

VICE CITY: NEW YORK IN THE 80s。。。

Nature made Ash Lynx beautiful; nurture made him a cold ruthless killer。 A runaway brought up as the adopted heir and sex toy of  “Papa” Dino Golzine, Ash, now at the rebellious age of seventeen, forsakes the kingdom held out by the devil who raised him。 But the hideous secret that drove Ash's older brother mad in Vietnam has suddenly fallen into Papa's insatiably ambitious hands--and it's exactly the wrong time for Eiji Okamura, a pure-hearted young photographer from Japan, to make Ash Lynx's acquaintance。。。 Epic in scope, and one of the best-selling shojo titles of all time in Japan, Akimi Yoshida put an electric shock into the genre and gained a huge crossover audience through Banana Fish 's stripped-down, non-stop style。

The final volume of Banana Fish contains the same dichotomy of darkness and light that characterizes both Ash and Eiji。 Harsh reality and soft dreamlike memories find themselves hand-in-hand with heartbreak and hope, sentiment and cynicism, love and murder。

This manga ended with three stories。 Scandal broke out big time。 Golzine’s no longer living。 Same with Fox。 Blanca went back to the Caribbeans。 Eiji was go back to Japan。 He wanted to see Ash one more time but that was not to be。 He sent him a letter。 That was the last he will hear of Ash。 Second story was a flashback to how Shorter Wong met Ash。 The third was the aftermath of Eiji, seven years later。 The illustrations of the manga are excellent。 English translations were good and well written。 This manga ended with three stories。 Scandal broke out big time。 Golzine’s no longer living。 Same with Fox。 Blanca went back to the Caribbeans。 Eiji was go back to Japan。 He wanted to see Ash one more time but that was not to be。 He sent him a letter。 That was the last he will hear of Ash。 Second story was a flashback to how Shorter Wong met Ash。 The third was the aftermath of Eiji, seven years later。 The illustrations of the manga are excellent。 English translations were good and well written。 The characterizations are three dimensional。 The story/series held this reader’s interest from start to finish。 Recommended。 。。。more

Ever wanted to read a heart wrecking story? Because this story will break your heart into pieces。 To be honest, I decided to watch the anime because of the manga’s name。 It was very intriguing and it made me curious what it would be about。 Like I said, I watched the anime of Banana Fish first because I did not know there was a manga to it in the beginning。 Reading the manga and watching the anime gave me a little bit of a different perspective of life and darker topics。 Banana Fish has 18 volum Ever wanted to read a heart wrecking story? Because this story will break your heart into pieces。 To be honest, I decided to watch the anime because of the manga’s name。 It was very intriguing and it made me curious what it would be about。 Like I said, I watched the anime of Banana Fish first because I did not know there was a manga to it in the beginning。 Reading the manga and watching the anime gave me a little bit of a different perspective of life and darker topics。 Banana Fish has 18 volumes in total, I definitely recommend reading the background stories of the characters as well, such as Angel Eyes。 I really did not know what I was getting myself into when I watched the anime。 I thought it was going to be something wholesome, but little did I know I would be bawling over it for months now。 The concept of this book is very dark and heart breaking, the author executed these dark topics and sad moments very well through their panelling and wording。 I can wholeheartedly say I do not regret reading this book。 I would read it over and over again。 I would never get sick of it because every reading time I notice something new。Banana Fish is very enjoyable to read because of the character developments and the sad topics they have talked about。 First, the author did a great job developing the characters not in a bland way through the panelling and words。 There is some character development, although it seems little, it’s a very impactful one, especially for Ash。 Eiji’s comforting embrace and stuff is just very heartwarming and relaxing。 There are many times I felt nervous and angry, but seeing Eiji taking care of Ash often made me feel safe。 Shorter, he is such an awesome character。 I honestly loved how much he cared about Ash and Eiji。 Shorter was able to see how happy Ash felt because of Eiji which I thought was so cute。 Shorter’s and Ash’s background story is quite interesting, it’s called Angel eyes。 Definitely recommend reading it after reading the 18 volumes。 Yut-Lung, he had a very tragic life, he is sort of like Ash, but not really at the same time。 I somewhat dislike him for his actions, but I can not really hate him because he turned out the way he did because he never felt comfort。 Sing, I can not explain how much I loved this boy。 He was so young, but had to go through so much。 He had to be a gang leader, even though it’s hard and painful。 He made me tear up so much during Garden of light, read this after the ending。 Max, the author created this father figure for Ash which makes it feel more comfortable because Ash never had a proper father figure in his life。 His father figures were absolute garbage。 The villain, Dino。 He is absolutely horrible, I hate him so much。 The author did a great job making this character very unlikeable。 He can not ever be forgiven by me。 To summarize, there are many engaging characters, and I felt connected to many of the characters even if they were a supporting role。 In addition, I personally like to read dark and sad stories, and so this is definitely one of my favorite stories。 The first half was somewhat fast paced, which I liked。 They also exposed the horrors of the dirty world of crime which gave me more knowledge about these certain topics。 They will not be 100 percent perfectly executed, but I think the author did a great job showing these topics。 This manga talked about mature and controversial topics, such as r*pe, sexu*al ass*ult, child ab*se, and more。 It was not healthy for my heart, it made me sick to the stomach。 I almost threw up while reading because it was getting to the point where it was so disgusting。 The manga did not romanticize the dark topic like r*pe which is rare。 In mangas especially there are many plot lines where the author will romanticize it, and it is absolutely disgusting。 There needs to be more mangas like this。 This manga did many of the dark topics justice, I was able to empathize with many of these characters。 I would rate this manga 5 stars, 10 out of 10, an absolute masterpiece。 Having said that, if you are interested in dark topics and sad stories, I would recommend it。 If you liked the anime very much and to see the actual ending of Banana Fish, read it, since the anime was open ended。 I would say you will never be the same, so prepare yourself。 I cannot stop crying from Banana Fish。 This story will make you want to read and read, there was not a single boring part for me。 The manga itself was a rollercoaster, I felt like I was with them。 Not only was it a soul destroyer, it traumatized me for life, I will never be able to forget this manga。 。。。more

(I’m not sure if this has spoilers or not, I’d say no but I guess this reviews hints at some things that happened in the story。 So if you’re fine with that then there’s no problem reading this。)This story is amazing。 Seriously one of the best stories i’ve ever read/watched。 The ending broke my heart, I cried so much and pondered over and over everything that happened。 Ash didn’t deserve this ending。。。 and yet he was smiling。 Which makes me think that was honestly the best ending for him in a way (I’m not sure if this has spoilers or not, I’d say no but I guess this reviews hints at some things that happened in the story。 So if you’re fine with that then there’s no problem reading this。)This story is amazing。 Seriously one of the best stories i’ve ever read/watched。 The ending broke my heart, I cried so much and pondered over and over everything that happened。 Ash didn’t deserve this ending。。。 and yet he was smiling。 Which makes me think that was honestly the best ending for him in a way。 He had finally found someone he loved and whom loved him back。 Someone who didn’t hurt him, or didn’t want to use him。 I remember a part in the anime, when he and Blanca talk for the first time in a while。 He said something about being ready to die, because he fact that someone out there wanted to give to him without wanting anything in return was good enough for him。。。 But still, I can’t believe that happened to him。 He could finally have a peaceful life, after finally having defeated Dino and that gross man with the scar。 Though would he really have had a peaceful life? I doubt it, he made so many enemies, he’d still have to be a gang leader and probably more people would go after him。 Well that aside, Ash will forever be my favourite character。 I never felt so much for any fictional character。 He’s just so。。。 full of personality, and despite all the pain in his past, he could still smile and love。 Absolutely loved this story <3 。。。more

I really don't think a fictional dynamic or love story between two characters has ever impacted me as much as Ash and Eiji's in Banana Fish。 I read this after watching the series and it made me cry even harder because I knew the awful thing that was going to happen at the end and reading up to it seriously tore me apart。 But reading this also gave me the closure that the show didn't since there's an epilogue in it。 I just can't stop thinking about this series and this sounds so dramatic but I th I really don't think a fictional dynamic or love story between two characters has ever impacted me as much as Ash and Eiji's in Banana Fish。 I read this after watching the series and it made me cry even harder because I knew the awful thing that was going to happen at the end and reading up to it seriously tore me apart。 But reading this also gave me the closure that the show didn't since there's an epilogue in it。 I just can't stop thinking about this series and this sounds so dramatic but I think that I'll always remember it and have a love for it。。。it's pummeling and painful and beautiful in a way that is brutal and soft, and I think that it is one of my favorite pieces of art ever。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I dont think I had ever really given any book a 5 star before I think,,, but BANANA FISH DESERVED IT。 EIJI DESERVES IT。 And damn。。。 Ash too。I love this story so much。 I love how it progressed, every tears I've dropped wouldn't be a waste, it felt so so much。 Even though there were so many things that made me felt uncomfortable but thank god its not that detailed? Even though there were still。。。GOD, I felt so human while reading this whole manga。 I felt all of the feelings。Aside from how good the I dont think I had ever really given any book a 5 star before I think,,, but BANANA FISH DESERVED IT。 EIJI DESERVES IT。 And damn。。。 Ash too。I love this story so much。 I love how it progressed, every tears I've dropped wouldn't be a waste, it felt so so much。 Even though there were so many things that made me felt uncomfortable but thank god its not that detailed? Even though there were still。。。GOD, I felt so human while reading this whole manga。 I felt all of the feelings。Aside from how good the story is, The characters are so good too!! From the main characters like Ash, I dont think I'll ever forget him。。。 and thats when you know a MAIN CHARACTER is so good。 From others like Shorter, Max, Sing and maybe Ibe too lmao BUT THE MOST MOST EIJI!! My heart, Ive never felt so so much precious for a fictional character? And all of their character developments is sOOO satisfying。 I really enjoyed them so much。And heck even though I hate the antagonists and villains, they were good in their part too。 Except Arthur hes just a childish man crying for his fingers lol (jk)。。 And even though Yut lung seems kind of evil, I just bully him as a whiny bitch。。 hes a pretty one though。AND OH GOD。。。 MR。 BLANCA?! He's so 😔💛 yep。 The Illustrations is very very very good too!! I like the style of 80's? I think, I really do! And the dialogues man, some will never leave my brain there are so precious。 Damn, even the simple 'Sayonara' moments are gonna be imprinted on my brain and tattooed in my heart。ALSO THE DIVERSITY MY GUY, i love stories with diversities。。 I mean yes this story is set on New York but wow。Also I love how the story isn't much predictable? Sure there were some but its still good! I love how 'Action' it is too!I dont think I'll ever move on from this story? I watched the anime too and it hurt hurt hurt。But I love how it captured A story that I wanted。 Sure its like, painful and all but it wont leave your mind after watching it。 Its gonna be unforgettable。。。 for me at least。Im so glad despite the trigger warnings, Ive managed to read this manga。 I love it so much! NOW SPOILERS(?)I love Eiji and Ash's relationship so much in the story。 Sure! Its not really detailed as them being in a relationship, heck they could be lovers or BFFls but thats why I like it! Their relationship is beyond words and their love and care for each other is beyond life and death too。I feel like I am Ash and Eiji as an audience。 Like throughout reading I root so much for Ash and wants to hug him and thats what Eiji did!! And god I wanna protect Eiji from any danger and thats what Ash did!!But so is in the end, I dont think I'll ever moved on from Ash。。 and we're all in the same page as Eiji with that one。I loved the Ending, I think its perfect for the story。。。 not for Ash though but come on。。。 I think its predictable that It could happen。 But also that leaves us never moving on from the story。。 I think。now it all leaves to me watching and re-reading this story for months before I could finally let go haha。 。。。more
