Summary

Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given。 Aria was only fifteen when her parents betrothed her to Luca – The Vice – Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families。
Now with eighteen, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca。
Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname ‘the Vice’ for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands。 Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile。
In her world a handsome exterior often hides the monster within; a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you。
The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again。
Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s。

I enjoyed this book so much and I don’t even know why。 Listened to it in one day, because I couldn‘t stop。At first I didn‘t really like any character tbh。 They were all a bit annoying, but I think especially Aria and Luca had kind of a development through out the book。 I mean Luca was a real d*ck, but I still like him, because he cared about Aria and was so gentle and somehow understanding with her。 I‘m also not sure, if there happened a lot。 A lot expect of the sex from about half way through, I enjoyed this book so much and I don’t even know why。 Listened to it in one day, because I couldn‘t stop。At first I didn‘t really like any character tbh。 They were all a bit annoying, but I think especially Aria and Luca had kind of a development through out the book。 I mean Luca was a real d*ck, but I still like him, because he cared about Aria and was so gentle and somehow understanding with her。 I‘m also not sure, if there happened a lot。 A lot expect of the sex from about half way through, but I don‘t see a problem。 。。。more

Slow burn worth waiting for Luca and Aria have an arranged marriage。 She is betrothed to him at 15 and married at 18。 I'm not usually a fan of the slow building romance, but this one was perfection。 There's OW drama in the beginning, but Luca shows how much he truly does care when Aria discovers his betrayal and runs off。 Loved this book! You know that your husband, who was forced to marry you but is attracted to you, won't remain faithful unless you sleep with him- god I can't even finish this sentence。 The rest of the book is him seducing her。 Literally。 That's why I read it so fast, I skimmed the s*x scenes。 There wasn't any romance, or actual companionship developed。 Just attraction。 Don't even get me started on the age difference and the fact she was 14/15 when they met。 I think he was 23, I don't remember。Sorry, not sorry - that makes me sick to my stomach。 Despite all my reservations about this book, I will say it is a great introduction to the universe。 I'm usually not a fan of the first books in a series (i。e。 The Duke and I, etc) so this was no surprise。 What I really don't understand is why the next book is Dante and Valentina? 1) I barely remember Dante。 2) Valentina had like a cameo。 Why aren't Gianna and Matteo next? I am actually looking forward to their story。 Oh well。 I have one piece of advice for those looking to read this book: just turn off the logical side of your brain if you want to enjoy it, suspend your disbelief。 。。。more

These books left me wanting more。 Not of the story because I was so invested but in the way it under-delivered。 The plot is actually interesting but there is no meat to the material。 I don't feel for any of the characters。 Aria comes off as the least interesting love interest and I just don't understand her as a person。 The author spends no time building her likes/dislikes。One such example that is so glaring is that Aria movies from Chicago to NYC where previously she was limited/caged in her ho These books left me wanting more。 Not of the story because I was so invested but in the way it under-delivered。 The plot is actually interesting but there is no meat to the material。 I don't feel for any of the characters。 Aria comes off as the least interesting love interest and I just don't understand her as a person。 The author spends no time building her likes/dislikes。One such example that is so glaring is that Aria movies from Chicago to NYC where previously she was limited/caged in her home and not allowed to explore, she still expressea absolutely no interest in seeing New York (where she arguably has more freedom)。 I see absolutely no reason as to why Luca would like her, other than her beauty。 She is the absolute trophy wife and I had to laugh when in book 3 Luca talks with Matteo and insists she's not that。We are led to believe she is a feminist because in her mind she contests the views of the Mob and her husband but then makes no active moves to improve it。There was so much potential here that was lost and I'm disappointed that this was the first book。 。。。more

4 Stars。 Would have given this a five star if it were not for the single POV。 Also, Luca cheated after the marriage。 That was sickening。 I hated men who cheated after they had met the heroine。 HOWEVER, I 'forgave' him upon reading how he felt all the time he was married。 So, I was reading Luca Vitiello back and forth along with this one, in order to get Luca's POV。 It was more satisfying that way。 Plus, the story did not grow more than the fact they had lots of sex。 It became sort of stagnant af 4 Stars。 Would have given this a five star if it were not for the single POV。 Also, Luca cheated after the marriage。 That was sickening。 I hated men who cheated after they had met the heroine。 HOWEVER, I 'forgave' him upon reading how he felt all the time he was married。 So, I was reading Luca Vitiello back and forth along with this one, in order to get Luca's POV。 It was more satisfying that way。 Plus, the story did not grow more than the fact they had lots of sex。 It became sort of stagnant after a while。 PlotForced to marry New York's Mafia Heir, Luca, Aria was petrified to her core。 She knew this was her fate。 There was no way out。 She was imprisoned in this expensive penthouse with a future Capo who had no feelings, no heart。 Marriage life unfolded before them。 As the couple tried to find their ways with each other, they found themselves not only engulfed with lust, but fear and quite possibly, love? I enjoyed the romance of this book but I had to knock off a star because there were things that made me very uncomfortable- I know it’s a mafia romance and I know that’s how it works but it still made me uncomfortable

I see Cora Reilly's books getting high ratings on my GR feed all the time, but this honestly disappointed me。 I'm really hoping Luca's POV of this, which has a much higher rating, is better than this。As the daughter of a Chicago crime boss, Aria has been engaged to the cruel future crime boss of New York, Luca, since she was fifteen。 When she turns eighteen and her wedding day comes around, she has to navigate a life and loveless marriage with a man she fears, whose presence feels imprisoned by。 I see Cora Reilly's books getting high ratings on my GR feed all the time, but this honestly disappointed me。 I'm really hoping Luca's POV of this, which has a much higher rating, is better than this。As the daughter of a Chicago crime boss, Aria has been engaged to the cruel future crime boss of New York, Luca, since she was fifteen。 When she turns eighteen and her wedding day comes around, she has to navigate a life and loveless marriage with a man she fears, whose presence feels imprisoned by。 This book started out pretty interesting, and seemed like it had potential。 Unfortunately, the lack of development or excitement made this book lose its allure。 The grammatical errors (which don't usually bother me) minimized the plot's intensity, and I just wasn't a fan of the writing style。 There isn't even really a prominent mafia-related plot or any underworld drama throughout the novel until the last few chapters。 In those chapters, it becomes a slew of WTF moments, but not in a good/bad way, just an abrupt & bizarre way, like Reilly's reminding us it's a mafia novel。Aria's character doesn't have any unique personality traits, and Luca is truly only vicious by reputation。 Yes, he's possessive, and yes, it's hot, but it ultimately wasn't enough to portray his character as a ruthless criminal-to-be-crime-boss。 I actually found him reasonable and justified。 Still, I may just need to read his POV book to understand his personality。 While I liked reading their romance, I just wish more happened in terms of their individual and relationship development。 。。。more

Good for a mafia book。 Had low expectations going into this and I was pleasantly surprised。 Not too cringey and I genuinely enjoyed reading it。 Quick easy mafia romance。 Please read trigger warnings before reading。 It’s hard to find a well written and entertaining mafia book that has good spice。 There’s not much of a plot but honestly that’s not why I was reading the book。 I would recommend。 3。5/5

3。5/5 - my biggest gripe with mafia books is that, if they are in the romance genre, there is not enough of a peak into the actual mafia world and its action because you're following a girl that is always kept protected, locked in a house, and away from everything that's happening。 Even towards the end we don't really get to see what Luca does as a boss and how he deals with certain situations。Luca and Aria's romance literally blossomed between four walls where we got to see a kind of different 3。5/5 - my biggest gripe with mafia books is that, if they are in the romance genre, there is not enough of a peak into the actual mafia world and its action because you're following a girl that is always kept protected, locked in a house, and away from everything that's happening。 Even towards the end we don't really get to see what Luca does as a boss and how he deals with certain situations。Luca and Aria's romance literally blossomed between four walls where we got to see a kind of different version of Luca。 But, I felt like I wanted more。 。。。more

In his PoV he talks about respecting her, calling her the most beautiful and what not but cheats on her !? And also that if she did the same it wouldn’t be acceptable!? luca and aria both have zero personality。 luca is so one-dimensional, solely driven by sex and whatever it is he does as capo。 and aria is just。。。 there。 their romance was not convincing at ALL。 I was shocked when they confessed their love to each other because the development was not there。 absolutely nothing happened in the book。 there was a wedding, the wedding night and then aria went to luca's new york penthouse where she went to restaurants。 BORING。 luca and aria both have zero personality。 luca is so one-dimensional, solely driven by sex and whatever it is he does as capo。 and aria is just。。。 there。 their romance was not convincing at ALL。 I was shocked when they confessed their love to each other because the development was not there。 absolutely nothing happened in the book。 there was a wedding, the wedding night and then aria went to luca's new york penthouse where she went to restaurants。 BORING。 。。。more

Firstly let me say some of the reviews I read about this book left me totally bemused。 I often feel readers forget its a work of fiction, is erotica, and falls within a certain trope: this one being forced marriage mafia trope。There was no rape, no forced sex of any kind, no abuse, they both went into this as an arranged marriage and neither loved each other yet grew to love one another。The fictional mafia world is a brutal cruel hard world where the weak dont survive
