Summary

Find the heir, win the crown。

The curse is finally broken, but Prince Rhen of Emberfall faces darker troubles still。 Rumors circulate that he is not the true heir and that forbidden magic has been unleashed in Emberfall。 Although Rhen has Princess Harper by his side, his guardsman Grey is missing, leaving more questions than answers。

Win the crown, save the kingdom。

Grey knows the heir's true identity but has vowed to keep it a secret。 On the run since he destroyed the evil enchantress Lilith, he has no desire to challenge Rhen—until Karis Luran once again threatens to take Emberfall by force。 Her own daughter Lia Mara sees the flaws in her mother’s violent plan, but can she convince Grey to stand against Rhen, even for the good of Emberfall?

The heart-pounding, compulsively readable Cursebreaker saga continues as loyalties are tested and new love blooms in a kingdom on the brink of war。

We’re on a journey …Second books are tricky and a lot of the time the reasons behind that is the change that the plot has to take from the first book。 I’ve noticed the second book is the journey, the pacing nearly always slows down and if you’re not careful, you get separated from the characters you connected with the most。 I missed Harper, the castle and just the atmosphere of everything。 I think this book had a vital story to tell, that of Lia Mara and her family/kingdom plus Grey of course。 I We’re on a journey …Second books are tricky and a lot of the time the reasons behind that is the change that the plot has to take from the first book。 I’ve noticed the second book is the journey, the pacing nearly always slows down and if you’re not careful, you get separated from the characters you connected with the most。 I missed Harper, the castle and just the atmosphere of everything。 I think this book had a vital story to tell, that of Lia Mara and her family/kingdom plus Grey of course。 I still feel though that this book was drawn out。 I found myself bogged down and would read 20 pages only to put it down again。 I had to push myself to finish the last 100 pages。 I’m happy I did, I’m hoping the third book will return a little to those characters and elements I loved。 。。。more

4 stars! I enjoyed this book much more than A Curse So Dark and Lonely! I like Grey more than Rhen and Lia Mara more than Harper。 This story was overall better and much more enjoyable。 The last 30 pages had my attention and that cliffhanger grabbed me at the end。 I will continue on with this series to see how it all comes together。。。

Honestly this book wasn't any where near as good as the first book。 The entire first half of the book is literally just the group walking in the forest then taking a break。 The most interesting things happened in like the last 7 or 8 chapters。 I totally ship Lia Mara and Grey though like they would be so perfect for each other。 Honestly this book wasn't any where near as good as the first book。 The entire first half of the book is literally just the group walking in the forest then taking a break。 The most interesting things happened in like the last 7 or 8 chapters。 I totally ship Lia Mara and Grey though like they would be so perfect for each other。 。。。more

Me gustó mucho leer esta historia desde el punto de vista de Grey y Lia Mara , la trama avanza rápido y todo lo que pasa es muy relevante para Emberfall , quiero leer el siguiente libro pero el final se me hizo muy flojo

Character development wasn't too bad on this, the plot left me intrigued enough to pick up the last book of the trilogy。 Character development wasn't too bad on this, the plot left me intrigued enough to pick up the last book of the trilogy。 。。。more

*2。5 stars* Uhhhh what。 Did I just read the same series as A Curse So Dark And Lonely? The characters acted so out of the ordinary in a way that made them unlikeable, I didn’t care much for the new character introduced, and the relationship from the first book that I thought was absolute goals was not it in this one (lowkey toxic)。 Rhen and Harper didn’t even feel like main characters anymore and it was just so jarring to not have their POV’s in this installment (except for one chapter in Harper *2。5 stars* Uhhhh what。 Did I just read the same series as A Curse So Dark And Lonely? Okay wow。 that’s all that needs to be said, the writing was amazing, the storyline even better。 it pulls you in and there’s unexpected turns and intrigue。 the layers to this story just make your heart ache but you love it at the same time。 cannot express how amazing this writing and the story is。 cannot wait to read the last book🤩

(writing this a year later because goodreads deleted rip) But what I do remember was this just being a really disappointing sequel。 And I can say through hindsight the final book wasn't much better。 I remember being just so disappointed that conflict was generated for the sake of conflict via characters acting OOC。 Rhen went from charming prince ready to lay his own life down for the sake of Emberfall to a total asshole; Grey went from lovely and content with Rhen to。。。 not。 I never liked Lia Ma (writing this a year later because goodreads deleted rip) But what I do remember was this just being a really disappointing sequel。 And I can say through hindsight the final book wasn't much better。 I remember being just so disappointed that conflict was generated for the sake of conflict via characters acting OOC。 Rhen went from charming prince ready to lay his own life down for the sake of Emberfall to a total asshole; Grey went from lovely and content with Rhen to。。。 not。 I never liked Lia Mara, even in the final book。 I disliked how she sought validation from a man; and I didn't love that Harper lost all her backbone。 I remember not much happening and desperate to read scenes between Harper and Rhen because they're who I fell in love with in book 1, and just having to try really really hard to read Lia Mara perspectives。 Grey was OK but his sudden dismissal and hatred of Rhen just felt OOC for him also。 So yeah overall I didn't like this, which was a shame given how much I adored ACSDL。 。。。more

In my opinion I thought this book was underwhelming and unnecessary。 I really liked the first book。 If the author made the first book a standalone by removing the epilogue then I would of been happy。 The plot of this book was bland and boring。 As much as I would recommend the first book to people I wouldn’t recommend the second book。EDIT: I finished the third book。 If you are the type of person who won’t DNF a series then push through。 If you frequently DNF I wouldn’t recommend the second or thi In my opinion I thought this book was underwhelming and unnecessary。 I really liked the first book。 If the author made the first book a standalone by removing the epilogue then I would of been happy。 The plot of this book was bland and boring。 As much as I would recommend the first book to people I wouldn’t recommend the second book。EDIT: I finished the third book。 If you are the type of person who won’t DNF a series then push through。 If you frequently DNF I wouldn’t recommend the second or third book。 。。。more

DNF。 I wanted so badly to like this book and I got about 40% through before I called it quits。 Everything was uninteresting and felt devoid of the things that I loved about the first book。 I liked Grey so much in A Curse So Dark and Lonely so I’m not sure what the disconnect between then and now is。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 What a let-down。 I’m surprised I finished this。 This feels like reading ACOTAR & ACOMAF all over again。 The author made us fall in love with the male MC in book one just to make us hate him in book two。 And the female MC? Nah man, she don’t exist no more, she’s busy protecting her man’s ego。 Nope, all those growth development in book one was a waste, bye。 And that’s not my only problem? The plot and storyline was just so bland! Should I even read the third and final book now?

I have no words。 This book was everything I wanted in a sequel — I literally never felt let down。 I love how the author paces! It feels like no moment is lost or unintentional and makes 450 pages fly by。 The characters are compelling and so deeply formed — I find my sympathies are not withheld from any of them。 The author makes you care about each of them in a way that’s stressful and makes for an amazing read。 Don’t let the new POVs keep you away! While this book isn’t as good as the first, that’s the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars。 Otherwise it was well executed, and I fell in love with the characters。 However, I did feel that some parts of the story were opposite from the first book。 Since this is a spoiler free review I can’t say what, but if you’ve read the book you know what I mean。 I still LOVE Grey, and Harper。 The world building is still so good it makes me cry。 Would 100% recommend

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I liked this book。 I liked the new perspectives and new characters。 I loved Lia Mara。 I did feel like a lot of this book was about avoidance so there are long periods of minimal action。 But it like flips your perspective of Book 1 characters and I don't like being lead to dislike/hate characters I previously liked because they've done something a bit out of character。 I think the premise is really reaching。 Would you stop trusting your best friend just because they play football and your bully p I liked this book。 I liked the new perspectives and new characters。 I loved Lia Mara。 I did feel like a lot of this book was about avoidance so there are long periods of minimal action。 But it like flips your perspective of Book 1 characters and I don't like being lead to dislike/hate characters I previously liked because they've done something a bit out of character。 I think the premise is really reaching。 Would you stop trusting your best friend just because they play football and your bully plays football? Football didn't make them a bully, other circumstances did。 Same thing goes here for magic。 If anything, most people would have used their best friend's new skills save them from the bully。 It's just a fake problem。 But like overall, it's still a compelling story with good characters。 I am reading the next one now。 。。。more
