Summary

It's not the journey that counts, but who's at your side。

Nana is on a road trip, but he is not sure where he is going。 All that matters is that he can sit beside his beloved owner Satoru in the front seat of his silver van。 Satoru is keen to visit three old friends from his youth, though Nana doesn’t know why and Satoru won’t say。

Set against the backdrop of Japan’s changing seasons and narrated with a rare gentleness and humour, Nana’s story explores the wonder and thrill of life’s unexpected detours。 It is about the value of friendship and solitude, and knowing when to give and when to take。 TRAVELLING CAT has already demonstrated its power to move thousands of readers with a message of kindness and truth。 It shows, above all, how acts of love, both great and small, can transform our lives。

The writer takes you on a journey through Japan and introduces you to different elements of Japanese culture through the eyes of both the cat Nana and his owner Satoru。 Friendship is a recurring theme in the book。 Friendship between humans and animals and friendship between humans。 Heartwarmingly written and after reading the last page you are left with a wonderful feel-good feeling。 。。。more

Was not expecting the gut punch this book ultimately provided when I started it。 Maybe I'm a sappy cat person, but haven't had a book poke to soft places like that in a while。 Was not expecting the gut punch this book ultimately provided when I started it。 Maybe I'm a sappy cat person, but haven't had a book poke to soft places like that in a while。 。。。more

“Hey you idiotic couple, how would you like it if somebody pointed at you while you were eating?”This was so cute and funny! I’m not a cat-person, but I genuinely enjoyed this 🤍 plus, the twists are just brutal! 😳Recommended for people who like to read relatable characters。 Yes, a cat can be relatable。 🐱 ”Humans who think we don’t understand them are the stupid ones。”

Beautiful。 I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book。

A simple story told by a cat whose master takes him on a series of journeys, the purpose of which is revealed towards the end。 A sentimental reader might cry。

This book moved me to tears。 It is a must for every cat owner (slave)。

4。5 stars I've had cats all my life。 They have been wonderful friends, faithful companions, and beloved family members。 I know they understand what I'm saying and they have no problem explaining to me exactly how they feel about everything。 This book was absolutely precious。 The inner dialog of Nana the cat will make any cat lover laugh out loud。 As I tagged along on the journey with Nana and his kind master Satoru, I came to love each of them more and more with every stop and visit。 By the time 4。5 stars I've had cats all my life。 They have been wonderful friends, faithful companions, and beloved family members。 I know they understand what I'm saying and they have no problem explaining to me exactly how they feel about everything。 This book was absolutely precious。 The inner dialog of Nana the cat will make any cat lover laugh out loud。 As I tagged along on the journey with Nana and his kind master Satoru, I came to love each of them more and more with every stop and visit。 By the time I arrived at the end of their journey, they captured a part of my heart and I hope to see them again in fields of beautiful flowers。 。。。more

I cannot express in words how sad yet beautiful this is。 I felt with every single story, with every single word。 I know how devoted cats can get, and I know how devoted humans can get to cats。 This was a good read。 I would advise any cat lover to read this, although please pack some tissues。

A story about companionship, connection with others and self-sacrifice。 Although written in a very plain and simple manner, it is able to convey emotions extremely vividly。 It is the sort of book that just leaves you thinking and wanting to be still for just a moment before continuing on with life。 This book hit me right in the feels and I think it will have the same effect on you too。 Definitely my book of the year for 2020!

This book is very clever and enjoyable to read。 It started out as a very light-hearted story but by the end it became much more complex and touching。 I had to find some tissues to wipe my eyes。 I would rate the last chapters a 5。 Definitely recommend especially for cat (or any pet) lovers。

3。5Was not expecting to get a bit emotional in this one。

I sobbed, this was beautiful。 Recommending this book to everyone ❤️

Interesting I enjoyed this book which was written from the perspective of a cat。 It made me laugh in parts and cry in others。 The cat is so wonderfully sarcastic and took me back to when we had a family cat growing up。

Braylon

I just don’t get it…It was a whole lot of nothing, and the perspective changes were so confusing because there was no indication of who’s mind we were in。

My story will be over soon。 But it's not something to be sad about。 As we count up the memories from one journey, we head off on another。 Remembering those who went ahead。 Remembering those who follow after。 And someday, we will meet all those people again, out beyond the horizon。 Wow, I'm sobbing。 This was one of the most beautiful books I've ever read。 I laughed, I cried and I enjoyed every second of my time reading this。 Absolutely perfect。 My story will be over soon。 But it's not something to be sad about。 As we count up the memories from one journey, we head off on another。 Remembering those who went ahead。 Remembering those who follow after。 And someday, we will meet all those people again, out beyond the horizon。 Wow, I'm sobbing。 This was one of the most beautiful books I've ever read。 I laughed, I cried and I enjoyed every second of my time reading this。 Absolutely perfect。 。。。more

Rating it 4 for the translation and 5 for the storyline。 Even though the translations put me off, I couldn't help but get drawn to the loving relationship between Satoru and his cat Nana as they drive across changing landscapes of Japan in their silver van。 Experiencing the journey from a cat's perspective along with his humorous comments added a lot more fun and flavour to this bittersweet tale。 Rating it 4 for the translation and 5 for the storyline。 Even though the translations put me off, I couldn't help but get drawn to the loving relationship between Satoru and his cat Nana as they drive across changing landscapes of Japan in their silver van。 Experiencing the journey from a cat's perspective along with his humorous comments added a lot more fun and flavour to this bittersweet tale。 。。。more

It is the story of a stray cat Nana who gets adopted by kind hearted man named Satoru。 Satoru can’t keep the cat forever with him but he loves her too much to let go。 Satoru is set on a journey to meet his friends with Nana beside him。 The story keeps moving back and forth in future and past。 The book is a very light read。 I would have recommended this for people getting into reading or want to get into reading but for me it was ‘take a break’ or ‘relaxed type’ of reading before I start with a m It is the story of a stray cat Nana who gets adopted by kind hearted man named Satoru。 Satoru can’t keep the cat forever with him but he loves her too much to let go。 Satoru is set on a journey to meet his friends with Nana beside him。 The story keeps moving back and forth in future and past。 The book is a very light read。 I would have recommended this for people getting into reading or want to get into reading but for me it was ‘take a break’ or ‘relaxed type’ of reading before I start with a mammoth book again。 😄 。。。more

Had to hug my cats real tight to get me through my emotions after finishing this。。。I didn't expect to like this as much, but I just couldn't help feeling sad or happy or even jealous with the characters。 And the fact that it was mostly narrated by a cat made it much more enjoyable!I don't think either of my cats are as nice or as smart as Nana (🙈🙈🙈 sorry kiddos) but I'm gonna talk to them as if they are just as smart!
