Summary

Never thought I’d ever be bored out of my mind reading a Shadowhunters novel, especially with Magnus at the forefront, but here we are。 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Because i liked the last book I thought i’d enjoy this one too。 I really like alec and magnus’s storyline and them navigating through being new parents and their growing relationship。 The main villain in the story was a little boring for me and a little annoying compared to other villains in the TMI universe so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy this as much。 It seems like I really need to read the shadowhunter academy book to understand the big shift in Simon’s character though。 That threw me off Because i liked the last book I thought i’d enjoy this one too。 I really like alec and magnus’s storyline and them navigating through being new parents and their growing relationship。 The main villain in the story was a little boring for me and a little annoying compared to other villains in the TMI universe so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy this as much。 It seems like I really need to read the shadowhunter academy book to understand the big shift in Simon’s character though。 That threw me off way hard。 。。。more

The lost book of the white was much better then the Red scrolls of magic and I really enjoyed it because it was much more interesting and we get introduced to new characters if you know what I mean and I love how much Magnus and Alec love each other。

Clare and Chu offer up the second in The Eldest Curses series, which entertains the same way as the first: an action thriller to sit back with for a fun read about a magical realm with wonderful characters and settings, not to mention its wit and relationship building。 It's like sitting back to watch a gay action/adventure movie in order to escape reality for a bit! I loved everything from the relationship between malec to the way Simon adapted。 Love the characters and the plot too。 Very cute and beautifully written。

Tbh if it wasn’t by CC and with Magnus, it would have been a 1-star review。 Everything felt so off?? Like characters definitely didn’t have appropriate reactions to events。 Bro got stabbed and nobody reacted??? Awkward

A slight disappoint after TRSOM。 the second half is too long for my taste and too bleary for it to be exciting。 I am however looking forward to the concluding book in the Eldest Curses!

This book had me on edge being freaked out for Magnus and therefore Alec THE ENITRE TIME!! That being said, it is an amazing story (not just because of Malec) and I'm glad I don't have to wait too long to read the next book!! As Alec and Magnus continue their charming adventures along with the hardship of being new parents, it's an enticing journey。 Well, the band is back together and the journey is enticing, as they head to one of the ancient cities of the world to save the world against an even more ancient evil。 As Alec and Magnus continue their charming adventures along with the hardship of being new parents, it's an enticing journey。 Well, the band is back together and the journey is enticing, as they head to one of the ancient cities of the world to save the world against an even more ancient evil。 。。。more

Really enjoyed this book because I love this 🌎❤️ Loved getting to join Magnus and Alec and the gang on another adventure, although I did feel this book was mainly setting up the background for the last book there were still many enjoyable moments, and after reading that epilogue I have many wild theories about what is to come and am excited for more 😍🥰💜Also the bonus story was just beautiful and had me nostalgic 😍❤️

Malec。 I absolutely ADORE Malec。 They are the loveliest couple I have ever experienced in a book。 I'm sooo glad they have their own series, because they deserve it。 It would be so amazing to meet them!!!! I would totally DIE!!! So, I actually got the book as a Christmas present。 You should've heard me scream。 The moment I saw the cover through the wrapping paper。。。。 I think I may have busted my family's ears。 Whoops。 Anyways, I went straight to my room and started binge-reading。 I finished the b Malec。 I absolutely ADORE Malec。 They are the loveliest couple I have ever experienced in a book。 I'm sooo glad they have their own series, because they deserve it。 It would be so amazing to meet them!!!! Like, talk about a cliffhanger。 I can't wait for the next book to come out!!! But at the same time, it will be the last book in the Eldest Curses series。。。 But I'll do anything for more Malec!!!This book gets five stars just from revolving around Malec。 Everything else was amazing, too!!! 。。。more

Seriously wtf was this???? I loved Red Scrolls of Magic。 But this book was crap。We were promised a more adult Malec trilogy。 We were not given said Trilogy。 Just really filler books to other books in the Shadow Hunters Realm。 Very disappointed!! 🙄 I'm done with Cassie Claire。 I'm done with Shadowhunters it's time leave this realm。 I will love Make till my last breathe。 But I just can't do this anymore。 Seriously wtf was this???? 3。5 ⭐️ fun to see Alex and Magnus as parents。 Missed Will in the bonus chapter with Jem, Tessa and everyone else。 Getting tired of the series but have a need to finish it。 I’ll just audiobook the rest since it’s much faster。

3 stars Definitely not my fav Shadowhunter book。 Loved the soft family moments, found the actual plot a little ridiculous at times, but it is leading to something big in the last in this series I think。 The audio。。。。 it's a no from me。 3 stars Definitely not my fav Shadowhunter book。 Loved the soft family moments, found the actual plot a little ridiculous at times, but it is leading to something big in the last in this series I think。 The audio。。。。 it's a no from me。 。。。more

It was so nice to see the six of them again, I've missed them so much。 The development of the relationship between Magnus and Alec and how comfortable they're around each other, even when they're in public, is something beautiful。 Also, Simon my baby, someone protect him at all costs。But honestly, my favourite part was the bonus story, because I'll never get over the love Tessa and Jem have for each other and also because I miss Will terribly。 It was so nice to see the six of them again, I've missed them so much。 The development of the relationship between Magnus and Alec and how comfortable they're around each other, even when they're in public, is something beautiful。 Also, Simon my baby, someone protect him at all costs。But honestly, my favourite part was the bonus story, because I'll never get over the love Tessa and Jem have for each other and also because I miss Will terribly。 。。。more

This book was so disappointing。 After having so much fun with The Red Scrolls of Magic, I expected for that fun to carry into this book。 But it didn't :( It's probably tied as my least favorite Shadowhunters novel with City of Fallen Angels (but I would probably argue that the climax of CoFA was much more interesting and gives it a slight edge)。 Before I get into it, I want to mention the one redeeming quality (well, actually there might be two but I'll talk about that later): Magnus and Alec an This book was so disappointing。 After having so much fun with The Red Scrolls of Magic, I expected for that fun to carry into this book。 But it didn't :( It's probably tied as my least favorite Shadowhunters novel with City of Fallen Angels (but I would probably argue that the climax of CoFA was much more interesting and gives it a slight edge)。 Before I get into it, I want to mention the one redeeming quality (well, actually there might be two but I'll talk about that later): Magnus and Alec and Max (my precious baby!)。 I adore Malec and the love they have for each other。 And Max Lightwood-Bane! This is literally the fans child and I just love him so much。 The thing about this book is that it just felt OFF。 Since I've spent the past month and a half binging the Shadowhunters books, I feel that I have somewhat of an understanding of Cassie's writing (her strengths and weakness)。 In this one, she attempted to emphasize the things that are usually her weakness and didn't use the tools that are usually her strength。 For one, I found the world building to be SO FREAKING CONFUSING。 I usually love how she makes it so easy to understand her woven tale of various mythologies。 Nevertheless, in this one, I was so confused and didn't understand most of the aspects that were introduced。 I definitely need clarification on if Sammael was the serpent in the garden of Eden, the fallen angel, the leader in the war fighting against the Archangel Michael, then where tf does that leave Lucifer, aka Satan?! Another thing I wasn't a fan of was that the TMI gang featured heavily in it。 One thing I loved from the first book was that it was a spin-off with Malec removed from the company of the rest of the characters。 In this one, they added nothing to the story and their presence was just so unnecessary。 Speaking of characters, the lack of character arcs and themes severely hurt this book。 In sharp contrast to The Red Scrolls of Magic, there were NONE! It made the book seem so POINTLESS!If I had to summarize this addition to the Shadowhunters Chronicles in one word, I would say: BORING。 I could care less about the plot。 I'm gonna keep comparing this to The Red Scrolls of Magic, but at least the cult mystery was interesting。 This was just a jumbled, pointless mess。 Although I will say that I really liked that epilogue。 (view spoiler)[ Omg are we getting Lucifer and the rest of the Princes of Hell fighting the Shadowhunters in The Wicked Powers。 I WANT IT。 (hide spoiler)] At the moment, this book is just pointless, though I would still recommend reading it because it seems like it's necessary set-up for TWP。 。。。more
