Summary

I mean? I read Whitney’s review where she said this book “blue balled” her for 800 pages and that is painfully accurate lol。 Also it features 2 of my least favourite tropes; drug busts and murder mysteries。 But it’s Sarah!!!!! So I simply cannot dislike it。 More of a 3,5 book for me。

Wow, this book is amazing。 I need the next one like now。

To read or not to read, that's the questionFirst of all, you should know that every time I see one of Maas's books pop up on my timeline and people gushing over how perfect they are, I throw up in my mouth a little bit。 Which brings me back to my current dilemma。I want to read this。 But I also don't。To be precise: I'm afraid I'm going to hate Crescent City as much as her other books。 The cover is super pretty and the plot sounds interesting but if this is anything like ToG or ACOTAR, I'd rather To read or not to read, that's the questionFirst of all, you should know that every time I see one of Maas's books pop up on my timeline and people gushing over how perfect they are, I throw up in my mouth a little bit。 Which brings me back to my current dilemma。I want to read this。 But I also don't。To be precise: I'm afraid I'm going to hate Crescent City as much as her other books。 The cover is super pretty and the plot sounds interesting but if this is anything like ToG or ACOTAR, I'd rather stab a fork through my eyeball than spend twenty bucks on it。 。。。more

Sarah you are a fucking psychopath, a brilliant and a superior psychopath。I just don't have the words。 All of them live in a place between my heart, my tears and the neurons of my brain that are still trying to undestand how much of a truly work of art this book is。 Sarah you are a fucking psychopath, a brilliant and a superior psychopath。I just don't have the words。 All of them live in a place between my heart, my tears and the neurons of my brain that are still trying to undestand how much of a truly work of art this book is。 。。。more

I would give this book no stars if I could。 Pointless。 Boring。 Uncertain of what it is。 Overall poorly written and contrived。 Too many plot lines and not enough story at the same time。 I almost never give one star reviews。 This is the exception。

First time in a long time that I felt excitement and nervous when reading a book! Enjoyed this one!👌🏻

Definitely a slow start but I thought it was good once it got going

I absolutely loved this book! At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, it took me awhile to get used to all of the different types of fantastical characters and it was a little slow to start。 But once I pushed through that, I was addicted to the mystery and the characters。 I will admit that early on the swearing was a little cheesy but by the end the story and twists were so good that I forgot about that。

Emma Armbruster

So many plottwists。 Insanely good。

Thalia

Well written, cheesy, plot twists。 Characters have very believable motivations。 Structured in an interesting way。 Absolute page turner。

The concept is cool but I don't buy the progression of their relationship。 It's a cute cheesy romance which was way too deterministic。 Too many names in the first few chapters that was a little difficult to get through。 I don't know if I'd recommend this 😅 I much prefer her other series! This book is huge and has so much information to process and try to keep up with, but it was really, really good。 The characters experience beautiful arcs and the amount of time put into crafting them is well spent。

Manon Claeys

I got so invested in all of the characters。 It will be hard to let them go now that I’ve finished this book though。 Can’t wait for the second book to come out!

3,5 stars! Did I cry reading this? Yes。 Were the last 100-200 pages as epic as everyone in the reviews was saying? Absolutely。 Did that make up for the rest of the book? Not really。Let me kick this review off with that this is my first Sarah J。 Maas book I've ever read。 I didn't really know what to expect, all I knew was this book was about angels and demons and all the cool fantasy stuff mixed with romance, my absolute favorite types of books。The beginning of this book was bad。 I'm not gonna l 3,5 stars! Not really。Let me kick this review off with that this is my first Sarah J。 Maas book I've ever read。 I didn't really know what to expect, all I knew was this book was about angels and demons and all the cool fantasy stuff mixed with romance, my absolute favorite types of books。The beginning of this book was bad。 I'm not gonna lie, it was truly bad and I considered DNF'ing this book once or twice seeing as how many pages this book has。 The author was dumping so much information, sometimes going as far as naming up to 4 new terms in one sentence, and expected you to perfectly understand it all。 This did not help the world building at all, in fact, this was one of the worst world buildings I've read in this genre。 However, once that thing happened things started to get rolling a bit more。 Nothing much exciting, just a murder here and there, but it was better than the start of this book。 The story was building, and even though it was slow, I could appreciate the plot as you could feel it slowly building。 As for the characters, I did not understand the relationship between Bryce and Danika, I just did not understand why Bryce was (view spoiler)[ grieving (hide spoiler)] so much。 They didn't really feel like friends to me, but maybe that's just me。 I also really didn't feel anything for the romance going on in this book, it was more lust than anything, hence why I was confused why they acted like a damn married couple after the love interest did that thing 。So the story went on, it was mediocre, not the best but definitely not the worst I've read, until I reached the last 200 pages。 Holy shitballs。 Now thát was the stuff I was waiting for。 Action packed, things getting revealed, more action, heartwarming moments of friendship, it had e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g。 If the book was like this from the beginning than it would have easily gotten 5 stars from me, but unfortunately there were a lot of things lacking in this book。Did I enjoy reading this? It was okay。 Will I read the sequel? Most definitely。 。。。more

Very much a Sarah J。 Maas book。 Action packed, always something going on。 More adult than young adult in content。 True blood style mythology。 I'd classify it as a guilty pleasure read。 Very much a Sarah J。 Maas book。 Action packed, always something going on。 More adult than young adult in content。 True blood style mythology。 I'd classify it as a guilty pleasure read。 。。。more

Nelituju přečtení, už dlouho jsem se takhle nenasmála。 Z těch posledních 20 procent mě pořád bolí mimické svaly。Podle mě je to tak mimo, až je to těžká prča。Vlastně klidně můžu doporučit。 Najděte si kámoše, se kterým to budete číst, a pojďte do toho。 I bez vína vás bude přecházet zrak。Smích je zdravý。A když se vám to navíc bude líbit, tak jedině dobře pro vás。

Can I rate the two halves of this book separately?? It wrapped up really well, but good lord, was it long。 I had to let so much of the world building wash over me instead of taking any of it in, just for my own sanity。(And yet I still found myself with watery eyes at the end)

hands down one of the best books i’ve ever read。 this is my first Sarah j。 Maas book and i was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to all the hype but it absolutely did。 all the characters were beautiful, I loved all of them。 Bryce with her snark but undying loyalty, Hunt with his brooding but being a softy at heart, Ruhn who is an utter cinnamon roll, Syrinx, Lehabah, all of them so much。 i did not expect for this book to make me cry! there were plenty of scenes that were so emotional i couldn hands down one of the best books i’ve ever read。 this is my first Sarah j。 Maas book and i was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to all the hype but it absolutely did。 all the characters were beautiful, I loved all of them。 Bryce with her snark but undying loyalty, Hunt with his brooding but being a softy at heart, Ruhn who is an utter cinnamon roll, Syrinx, Lehabah, all of them so much。 i did not expect for this book to make me cry! there were plenty of scenes that were so emotional i couldn’t help but tear up。 definitely cannot wait until the next book and for sure gonna have to check out the other Sarah J Maas books too。 。。。more

This one was pretty good。 I'm giving it 4 stars to help my algorithm find me more books like this, but in reality, it's a solid 3。5 for me。 The ending felt like I was barreling at high speed compared to the first 90% of the book。 And sometimes I thought the dialogues were immature with all the cursing。 It's like being around 18 year old sailors。。。 But the ending more than made up for it。 I stopped questioning if it was a worthwhile read because of it。 I'd definitely recommend and really apprecia This one was pretty good。 I'm giving it 4 stars to help my algorithm find me more books like this, but in reality, it's a solid 3。5 for me。 The ending felt like I was barreling at high speed compared to the first 90% of the book。 And sometimes I thought the dialogues were immature with all the cursing。 It's like being around 18 year old sailors。。。 But the ending more than made up for it。 I stopped questioning if it was a worthwhile read because of it。 I'd definitely recommend and really appreciate a newer to me genre I truly enjoy。 。。。more

Oh, man。 SJM has serious pacing issues。 The first third of the book is garbage and nonsense and like getting hit with a fire hydrant of information。 The middle third is slow and kind of boring。 Then it starts to pick up, and the last third is awesome。 Almost all her books are like this。 She needs some serious editing。 Shave off a couple hundred pages, tighten it up, be more succinct with the worldbuilding。 I didn’t feel like I really understood the world until the very end of the book。 I’d have Oh, man。 SJM has serious pacing issues。 The first third of the book is garbage and nonsense and like getting hit with a fire hydrant of information。 The middle third is slow and kind of boring。 Then it starts to pick up, and the last third is awesome。 Almost all her books are like this。 She needs some serious editing。 Shave off a couple hundred pages, tighten it up, be more succinct with the worldbuilding。 I didn’t feel like I really understood the world until the very end of the book。 I’d have been way more invested in certain plotlines if I’d understood it sooner。The twists are starting to get more predictable。 If you’ve read SJM before, everybody has to be extra special and powerful, and if they aren’t now, they surely will be。Also - lol。 The “new adult” label basically just means everybody swears a lot, does drugs, parties, etc。 That stuff is almost as an aside。 Otherwise the books are the exact same as her young adult books。 Honestly, these books are escapism。 There is a lot of eyeroll cringe, tons to criticize, but if you can hateread like I do and deal with the bad to enjoy the things she does write well, it’s a pretty good time。 。。。more
