Best Manga I’ve ever read, period。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I read this manga because my sister recommended it to me。 (Actually she said not to read it because it was violent and graphic, but she kept talking about it so I had to read it)。 As I was reading Tokyo Ghoul re, I kept thinking that series 1 was much better。 Re had sooo many new characters that I didn’t find myself caring about, in fact many of them annoyed me。 The story was also more confusing than part 1 and I kept reading, waiting for the story to get exciting again。 BUT, the payoff at the e I read this manga because my sister recommended it to me。 (Actually she said not to read it because it was violent and graphic, but she kept talking about it so I had to read it)。 As I was reading Tokyo Ghoul re, I kept thinking that series 1 was much better。 Re had sooo many new characters that I didn’t find myself caring about, in fact many of them annoyed me。 The story was also more confusing than part 1 and I kept reading, waiting for the story to get exciting again。 BUT, the payoff at the end was sooo worth it。 The last 3rd of re really pulled everything together and was extremely satisfying。 Especially when Hide showed up again! Everything after that was A++。 I was scared I wouldn’t like the ending or that certain favorite characters would die。 But, I was impressed by the author’s ability to tie everything together at the end and make the story unforgettable。I think my absolute favorite character (ever since he stole that motorcycle) is Juzo Suzuya。 He’s just amazing and I was constantly rooting for him as he fought in those slippers (If he had died my rating would have been much lower)。 I loved when he said “What is peace anyway? I don’t know what it is。 People, ghouls。。。 if one is gone, is that peace?” I can’t say enough about how much I like Juzo。 I think the best character was Amon and I’m SO GLAD he and Kaneki got to reunite after everything, and just that whole chapter of him, Akira, Touka and Kaneki was what I was WAITING for。 When he told Touka that the pain he feels after losing Mado isn’t directed at her, but “It’s directed at the world that forced us to do what we did,” and he’d been wanting to tell her that, was such a good moment。 I knew since part 1 when Amon was captured that he and Kaneki would meet again, but not as enemies and that Amon would become essentially what he dedicated his life to killing。 He was the character who constantly questioned his actions and himself to figure out what was morally right, and I’m proud of him for that。 Also, when he admitted to himself that he loved his “father” despite everything because he had good memories was heartbreaking。 But, Amon was a steady favorite of mine since part 1 (and I ship him with Akira)。 The character in re who had the most development is of course Urie。 I really didn’t like Urie in the beginning。 He was stuck up, and didn’t care that his actions hurt other people, as long as he could manipulate things to his advantage and gain status。 (But his thoughts did make me laugh)。 But WOW did his character turn around and he became an ACTUAL leader。 I was so impressed and loved seeing him thrive and protect everyone。 I especially loved how he and Saiko handled the situation with Mutsuki。 I honestly thought Mutsuki was too far gone, but surprisingly everything worked out better than I thought。 (I loved when Mutsuki was fighting and Nishio was impressed)。 So yeah, good for Urie!Ayato also had a great character arc and I really enjoyed his character in re。 He seemed like a totally different person than that lost, rebellious boy who treated his sister bad。 When he called kaneki his brother! (I was so scared he would die for kaneki so his sister wouldn’t lose her husband)。 And I ship him and Hinami (I assume they were together at the end)。And of course, this story had a great main character。 Kaneki is constantly struggling throughout this story and being able to see his thoughts (which were incredibly relatable) truly made this story great。 There was no way I could stop reading because I had to know what happened to Kaneki。 Just everything that happened to this character and the fact that HE GOT HIS HAPPY ENDING WITH TOUKA AND HIS DAUGHTER was wonderful! AND HE EVEN GOT HIS BEST FRIEND BACK! Now, Kaneki made some mistakes and he wasn’t perfect, but I was constantly rooting for him。 If he didn’t get that happy ending I would not like this story very much。 How could you not love Kaneki? All the characters who cared for him and we’re waiting for him to wake up are proof that he deserved his happy ending。Overall, I wouldn’t say this is my favorite manga。 While the gore didn’t bother me, it did at times feel unnecessary。 However, I did enjoy the story and am glad I read it! This one was the most thought provoking that I’ve read so far。 Thinking back to the very beginning, when Kaneki became a ghoul and struggled with losing his humanity, to how things turned out in the end, with Kaneki as the leader of the ghouls striving towards peace。 And how at times it was the humans that were the monsters, not the ghouls。 Nishio said himself, after seeing what Kaneki turned into, that even he didn’t think ghouls should exist。 Then it’s pointed out that the ghouls are the ones risking their lives to solve a problem created by humans, because Kaneki wasn’t a ghoul to begin with。 And how the CCG was actually run by the Washu who were ghouls! But in the end, Kaneki (with the help of Hide) was able to unite humans and ghouls, who could then live in harmony with one another against a common threat。 One of my favorite lines is when Amon asked “What is the most important quality in an investigator?” and he says it’s “fighting for peace” and they should fight with the ghouls。 I felt like Hide KNEW which characters were needed to make the two groups unite。 And how Kaneki and Touka made Yomo realize “that there’s more than just loss for us,” and that there is something to be gained by everything they went through。 I could go on and on。。。。 There’s just a lot to think about with this one。 “If I were to write a book with me as the main character。。。 it would be a tragedy。” 。。。more

edit: Mutsuki and Urie deserved more。 Definitely。 In my head, they got together within the 6 years after the dragon war。 You can't change my mind。Confession: I think my only goal in life will be to have enough money to buy all the books in Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: re。 Also, do yourself a favour and spend hours of your life reading the masterpiece that is Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: re。Was re messy? Yes。 Was it confusing at times? Yes。 But was it a masterpiece? A 100 times yes!!。 The complex edit: Mutsuki and Urie deserved more。 Definitely。 In my head, they got together within the 6 years after the dragon war。 You can't change my mind。Confession: I think my only goal in life will be to have enough money to buy all the books in Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: re。 Also, do yourself a favour and spend hours of your life reading the masterpiece that is Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: re。Was re messy? Yes。 Was it confusing at times? Yes。 But was it a masterpiece? A 100 times yes!!。 The complexity of the characters, the backstories, the intertwining of lives, the manipulation, the revenge, and the story-telling were impeccable。Our favourite couple FINALLY finally finally develop a relationship worthy of crying and writing about。 The longing, the pining, the wait was so long but so worth it。 I can only hope to have a relationship as resilient as that one。 (view spoiler)[The wedding (hide spoiler)], the bite-mark, the companionship, the love。。。。 The way Touka was the name that brought Kaneki out of his dismembered misery。 The way Touka was the first face that came to his mind when thinks of who he lives for。 I feel like crying every time I think about Kaneki and Touka。The best part of the last 2 volumes was Hide。 Hide and Kaneki deserved so much more storytime together。 I'm so glad Hide existed because he was literally the glue (along with Kaneki of course) that brought the ghouls and CCG together。 In my opinion, Hide was, in a way, the representative of the CCG in Kaneki's relationship to the world。 While Kaneki was a representative of someone who knew ghouls weren't necessarily bad people as a whole。Urie is probably the hottest character after Kaneki。 Or maybe they are on par。 I like how Urie's character developed so well。 He turned from a power-hungry boy who blamed everyone else to a man who learned to care about others: the Quinx, Takeomi, Mutsuki, Shirazu Haru。 Moreover, he realised that he was capable of love and deserved it too。 (Imightbeshippingshirazu'ssisterharuwithhimisthatjustme)I never will get Uta, Itori and Yomo's relationship。 It is mind-boggling。 Uta can only have "fun" when Renji is alive and Itori (view spoiler)[is just in love with Uta (hide spoiler)] so she just does whatever makes Uta happy。 It's a questionable relationship albeit a bit better than a murderous one。Is it just me or were (view spoiler)[Ayato and Hinami together together? I was confused at the end。 (hide spoiler)]Anyways, this is not a well-articulated review with a character and story analysis of all the things I loved, but I can tell you this: I love the story and the characters with all my heart。 Period。 A lot of people seem to hate it for some reason which I don't understand。 at。 all。I will proceed to mope about the fact that I have finally finished reading this masterpiece。P。S。 Also, Chapter 125 was such a plot-twist。 did not expect it but like I confess that it was very much to my liking。 DON'T SEARCH UP THE CHAPTER AND SPOIL IT FOR YOURSELVES。 please read it。 It is so worth the wait。 。。。more
