Lo que siempre me va a sorprender sobre esta historia es la manera tan dura de como inicia。

Muy buena propuesta de manga。

this manga is part of the anime, Attack on titan。 The manga has 2 major plot twist and Eren the main character turns out to be a titan, and Reiner and Berthold turn out to be titans that killed Erens mom。 and there is a lot that happens in this book but those are the 2 most important plot twists of this book。

*4。5A really solid entry。 The introductory of this world and its system, is really interesting and also very well done。 The mystery around the plot, feels like it is about to build up into something explosives and I am ready for it。 The art style is gorgeous。 Its enhancing the fights scenes, the gore and raw moments amazingly。 The ending of this volume is making me too excited to pick the next one。

I read this in 15 hours as a challenge to read all of AoT in less than 24 hours。Attack on Titan is the most well-crafted manga of its time。 The premise is simple, giants terrorise humanity, but the story is crafted in an extremely well-thought out way that shows this the more and more you read it。 With a wealth of mysteries and questions, it leaves the readers wanting more and has an excellent balance of thrill and plot。

Such an intriguing first volume!! I think the plot of AOT is very unique and I love the dedication Isayama put into it with the side notes about various things like how their three-dimensional maneuver gear works。 I LOVE the way the Titans were drawn because it creeps me out but in a good way。 I can’t wait to see the differences between the manga and anime!!

I've been invested in this story ever since I watched the anime and now I've started reading the original manga it's based on。 The story is really good and the art is amazing。 All the characters are distinct and they are easily distinguishable。 Some parts of the story are really dark and serious which adds more weight to the plot and makes you more invested。 The extra pages in between the story where they explain certain concepts of the world this story takes place in is awesome。 The first few c I've been invested in this story ever since I watched the anime and now I've started reading the original manga it's based on。 The story is really good and the art is amazing。 All the characters are distinct and they are easily distinguishable。 Some parts of the story are really dark and serious which adds more weight to the plot and makes you more invested。 The extra pages in between the story where they explain certain concepts of the world this story takes place in is awesome。 The first few chapters look a bit simple and straight forward but it gets complex as the story progresses。This is a great recommendation for shounen manga fans。 I'm going to be continuing with these along with the anime。 。。。more

I didn't think I would like this and to be completely honest I still need to understand all the hype。 Some parts saw me almost yawning of boredom。 The action scenes I liked a whole lot and they pretty entertaining and fun, keeping me on my toes。 As a whole, the story is pretty good, I grew attached to the characters (even if I still get irritated by Eren some times)。 There are some plot choices that disappointed me a bit, but overall a solid 3。5。I look forward to reading the last chapters。 I didn't think I would like this and to be completely honest I still need to understand all the hype。 Some parts saw me almost yawning of boredom。 The action scenes I liked a whole lot and they pretty entertaining and fun, keeping me on my toes。 As a whole, the story is pretty good, I grew attached to the characters (even if I still get irritated by Eren some times)。 There are some plot choices that disappointed me a bit, but overall a solid 3。5。I look forward to reading the last chapters。 。。。more

I went on a re-reading/catching up binge with AOT since it recently just came to an end。 Reviews will be sparse but I love how the art slowly gets better, as does the plot。 Not your typical seinen。

ok。 wow。where do i even start。First off, that ending can be summarized in one word。NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAs for the rest of the book。This is one of the best first manga volumes I've read。 It sets up the world and characters in an gripping way, without getting repetitive or moving too quickly。 This world is interesting and creepy, and I knew from the start that I'd be invested。 I'm already liking the main characters (Erin, Armin, Mikasa), this volume did a good ok。 wow。where do i even start。First off, that ending can be summarized in one word。NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAs for the rest of the book。This is one of the best first manga volumes I've read。 It sets up the world and characters in an gripping way, without getting repetitive or moving too quickly。 This world is interesting and creepy, and I knew from the start that I'd be invested。 I'm already liking the main characters (Erin, Armin, Mikasa), this volume did a good job of characterizing them without sacrificing the plot。 I didn't mind the tropes that were used, since they didn't seem forced, and were actually necessary to move the plot along。I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series。 。。。more

I have been meaning to read this manga for so long and I finally put the effort in and it starts pretty good。 I don't think much will surprise me from the first few volumes from watching the TV show but it's fine to see it as it was meant to be。 I have been meaning to read this manga for so long and I finally put the effort in and it starts pretty good。 I don't think much will surprise me from the first few volumes from watching the TV show but it's fine to see it as it was meant to be。 。。。more

What can I say that hasn’t been said already? Great foundation for what will be a great story, good banter between characters; whom have already v clear personalities, weird and wonky art style。 It has all been said before but oh my lord what a way to kick off the story, even for someone who has already seen the anime

Actual rating: 4。5Reading this for the first time after having watched the anime so many times is a little jarring。 The art is something I was aware of since the beginning so it didn't bother me too much。 I was quite surprised about the pacing of the plot! The anime does quite a good job building up anticipation, in my opinion, while the manga is much faster。 It's not a bad thing considering the plot of the story but overall, I enjoyed it! [READ IN JAPANESE] Cool monster concept, and really fun Spider-Man-like traversal for the heroes (even if it seemed to me like they’d be accidentally severing their own fingers and limbs left and right with all those constantly shooting and tightening wires)。 This comic falls prey to the most common sci-fi/fantasy trap, where all anyone in the story can do is talk about their world’s unique ‘gimmick。’ You never really get any meaty character or situational motivation outside of the monsters and [READ IN JAPANESE] Cool monster concept, and really fun Spider-Man-like traversal for the heroes (even if it seemed to me like they’d be accidentally severing their own fingers and limbs left and right with all those constantly shooting and tightening wires)。 This comic falls prey to the most common sci-fi/fantasy trap, where all anyone in the story can do is talk about their world’s unique ‘gimmick。’ You never really get any meaty character or situational motivation outside of the monsters and the (both metaphorical and physical) holes they leave in everyone’s lives。 The world itself doesn’t feel practical or lived-in to me either。 I never really got a sense for how they prevented the monsters from getting in for so long without incident if their walls are so flimsy for example, not to mention how they had enough time (and resources) to build the walls in the first place when the titans first started appearing。 I can suspend my disbelief to some extent in a fantasy universe, but I found myself groaning at this more than I’d have liked to。I enjoyed the aggressively hatched artwork, which makes great use of forced perspective to convey movement and action。 But during peaceful moments it seemed like the artist simply had a weak understanding of human anatomy。 Human characters would regularly be drawn with too-big heads or spindly little arms when in resting states, making them resemble the grotesque giants they fight。 Maybe this was intentional in some way? I doubt it though。 Anyway, I’d be interested to read more, but mostly for the action scenes。 As with all works I read entirely in Japanese, I will now recount the entire plot as I remember it, in case I read this again later and want to check my work。 ========== SPOILERS FOLLOW (maybe) ==========Young kid Erin Jaeger (how I assume it’s meant to be spelled in English) has his city destroyed by giant monsters, and grows up to be part of the professional monster fighting force to protect his city。 But I’m getting ahead of myself。 First things first, we’re introduced to a fantasy world where humans live in a city and never leave it。 Why? Because outside of the massive 50m walls surrounding their civilization roam giant, naked humanoid monsters that eat normal-sized people like us for breakfast。 If there’s a reason or explanation why these things exist, I didn’t catch it, but I hope there isn’t one- I always think these fantasy worlds are more interesting when they leave a bit of mystery like that。 Anyway, in the opening sequence, Erin is playing with his sister Mikasa and his friend Armin, when a massive earthquake strikes。 They go to see what’s going on, and they realize it’s a massive titan (I figure that’s the name for the monster based on the English title of the comic, since the Japanese word has multiple meanings) bigger than any that’s been seen before。 It’s actually taller than the city walls, and promptly begins tearing them down with relative ease。 It looks like there’s been a coordinated assault by these titans, because they’re all now pouring into the city。 And worst of all, the city’s monster-fighting protectors have just recently been decimated by a dangerous exploratory expedition。 Nobody is able to stop these giants and they just start killing and eating townsfolk wholesale。 Erin goes back for his mother, who’s stuck under a fallen beam。 She forces Erin’s uncle, who is one of the guards of the wall, to take him and his sister away。 But as they’re leaving, they have front row seats to watch Erin’s mother get eaten。 Erin now has his hero’s motivation, and the uncle (who Erin had recently yelled at for drinking while on duty) has been at least partly redeemed。 Flash forward to five years later。 It turns out that the city had multiple walls (seems like they should have established that earlier) so all the city folk fled to the more inner walls to live since the big incident。 Erin, Mikasa and Armin have joined the city’s defense squad, who all use a crazy contraption that I understood to be called something like “Standing Body Automatic Gear。” There’s probably a neat custom word for the English translation to describe this machine though。 It basically turns the soldiers into Spider-Men who attack with swords。 We find (much later in the comic- again, weird time to establish the stakes) that the only way to kill a titan is to cut through the base of the back of its neck, so I guess this vertical traversal is pretty necessary。 Other weapons never seem to work。 There are a few throwaway scenes where they sit around and yell about how bad everything is, and characters go back and forth with their optimism or pessimism。 There are also arguments about which division of the city defense force is best。 Standard anime/manga stuff where they assume the reader is completely unable to understand subtext, so the characters say every single emotion out loud。 While this would usually be very groan worthy to me in English, my limited Japanese skills made these sections somewhat useful to me。 I still recognized them for what they were though, and would rather they didn’t clutter up the otherwise interesting fantasy action。 After this, SOMEHOW, the massive titan appears again out of nowhere, right at the wall while the new recruits are guarding it。 Everyone freezes up, but Erin immediately goes into action。 Before he can do any damage though, the thing disappears right out from under him。 But whoops, looks like the city has been breached from the other side while they were over here。 So the group rushes out to the other side, and are blindsided by a few titans。 Basically everyone is killed instantly。 I was surprised that even Erin is dismembered and (seemingly) eaten at the end。 There are still one or two left to keep up the fight though, so I guess we’ll be following somebody else next time。 All in all, this was probably one of my weakest reading performances so far。 I notice that I’m very bad with fantasy settings, I guess because of all the unknown terms。 I’d go through major sections without really understanding much of the intricacies。 But I still think I got the stuff that was necessary。 I enjoyed the comic despite these sections, and the perceived flaws。 I’d read another volume if it went on sale。 。。。more
