This health and wellness book is written by Minnesota native and superfood-hunter Darin Olien。 I really enjoyed his writing style and his emphasis on personal responsibility toward health - "By our actions, we determine our fate"。 With the United States ranking 34th in life expectancy, we certainly have room for improvement。 In Superlife, he focuses on what he believes are the 5 main areas affecting our health。 I won't get into them all (you can discover them for yourself when you read the book) This health and wellness book is written by Minnesota native and superfood-hunter Darin Olien。 I really enjoyed his writing style and his emphasis on personal responsibility toward health - "By our actions, we determine our fate"。 With the United States ranking 34th in life expectancy, we certainly have room for improvement。 In Superlife, he focuses on what he believes are the 5 main areas affecting our health。 I won't get into them all (you can discover them for yourself when you read the book), but I did want to touch a bit on the issue of hydration。 I don't believe it's on many people's radar, and it should be。 According to Olein, 80% of people aren't getting enough water。 Considering our bodies are two-thirds water, that's a problem。 "Dehydration is our body's number one stressor。 No other single factor has the potential to cause so many illnesses and do us so much harm。" Olien recommends drinking enough water so your urine is clear or pale yellow。 He also emphasizes drinking plain water - not Gatorade, vitamin water, flavored water, or anything else pretending to be water。 A good rule of thumb is to drink at least half of your weight in ounces of water every day。 (If you're 150lbs you should drink at least 75 ounces of water a day。) The entire book is interesting and a great guide for improving your health。 。。。more

There’s good info in here, but super boring to listen thru。 And overwhelming to think how to apply it in your own life。 There’s toxins in everything。 How do you make the best choices? It seems impossible to truly eat anything truly “clean” in this culture of processed foods and not knowing where our food comes from。

That is what makes this book so good。 Darin cites doctors and scientists and discusses all those things we know about living a healthy lifestyle but explains why it’s good for us and how we can incorporate healthier choices into our lives。 At the end of the book he breaks down foods by the vitamin/mineral/macronutrient they provide for us。 He gives a sample meal plan。 What to throw away from your pantry。 And what to add。 At the end of each chapter he gives a “Simple to do list” of the most important take-always from the chapter and how to incorporate them into your lifestyle。 It was a very fun read that at minimum has me thinking about everything I put into my body and at most has me wanting to start from scratch and throw everything away in my kitchen and only buy fresh, whole foods, and possibly go all in and become a vegetarian/vegan。 。。。more

This book stimulated my interests in health and fitness and the science behind it all。 While I’m not quite on Darin’s level of commitment, SuperLife was a good reminder of ways to practice living a healthier lifestyle。 However, I didn’t love the writing style of this book, and I questioned a lot of the facts, statistics, and studies that seemed randomly scattered into paragraphs to further strengthen a point of view。

I enjoyed reading this book - I am huge fitness fanatic and eat a healthy diet 90 % of the time lolI wish I could follow more of the rules Darin writes about it this book but buying completely organic is out of my budget 😥 Most of what he says in the book - I already follow so it wasn’t too much of an eye opener for me !! Your health is your best investment but not all of us are famous ! LolThe recipes in the back are great so far I’ve tried a few !!

This was a decent health & nutrition book。 He key points were all good。 He tried to make living his chosen lifestyle seem easy, but not all of us can fly all over the world finding the perfect berries。 Some of the book was a sales pitch for his nutrition drink, which is a little cheap, but it’s fine。 He had done good things to say, but unless you are wealthy with lots of free time, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt。

I’m about 30 pages into the book。 It’s a very good reminder to eat Whole Foods and reduce the amount of processed foods we eat。But a lot of what he says seems to be cherry picked research which supports his views。 Whole Foods are obviously better for you than processed crap。 But I strongly dislike the way this was written。
