Summary

The much anticipated sequel to the breathtaking New York Times bestseller THE WRATH AND THE DAWN。

I am surrounded on all sides by a desert。 A guest, in a prison of sand and sun。 My family is here。 And I do not know whom I can trust。

In a land on the brink of war, Shahrzad has been torn from the love of her husband Khalid, the Caliph of Khorasan。 She once believed him a monster, but his secrets revealed a man tormented by guilt and a powerful curse-one that might keep them apart forever。 Reunited with her family, who have taken refuge with enemies of Khalid, and Tariq, her childhood sweetheart, she should be happy。 But Tariq now commands forces set on destroying Khalid's empire。 Shahrzad is almost a prisoner caught between loyalties to people she loves。 But she refuses to be a pawn and devises a plan。

While her father, Jahandar, continues to play with magical forces he doesn't yet understand, Shahrzad tries to uncover powers that may lie dormant within her。 With the help of a tattered old carpet and a tempestuous but sage young man, Shahrzad will attempt to break the curse and reunite with her one true love。

It felt slow until the end。 Everything felt rushed and underdeveloped。

First of all, I didn't think I would like his series as much as I do now。 The first book was a little slow for me at first but I completely devoured this 2nd one。 We got to see Khalid's character development even more here。 I love how much Khalid and Shahrzad love each other。 I also love how we got to see more of the other side characters。 I just wish they didn't kill off *****。I have a feeling this is gonna be one of my comfort series。 First of all, I didn't think I would like his series as much as I do now。 The first book was a little slow for me at first but I completely devoured this 2nd one。 We got to see Khalid's character development even more here。 I love how much Khalid and Shahrzad love each other。 I also love how we got to see more of the other side characters。 I just wish they didn't kill off *****。I have a feeling this is gonna be one of my comfort series。 。。。more

A very fitting ending! Loved the writing, the plot twists and betrayals。 Couldn’t put it down。 The ending was fitting and the women empowerment was awesome! Character development happened in unexpected places

IT BREAKS THE CURSE TOO? OH theres this all powerful witch who can wreak havoc and is supposed to be evil but SHE JUST GIVES THEM HELPFUL ADVICE AND DOESNT SHOW UP ANYMORE? OH the TWO DAUGHTERS OF THE SULTAN ARE ON THEIR TEAM? OH the omar just SWITCHES SIDES? Artan the magician just goes around, becomes buddies, and then goes to war with people he just met? TOO EAAASSYYYY-it was still an enjoyable read tho, it just could have been a lot better 。。。more

I can’t say I was too much of a fan of this book it felt more like a filler than an actual story。

OMG, I liked this book over the first one。 It had plot, it had answers, it had romance and it had action。 Would be 5 stars if it was a little less slow, the Tariq chapters were a little boring。 4/5⭐️ 2/5🌶

3,5⭐ This book was a big disappointment。 Although, I'm glad that the ending was unique。 The 'Big Battle' was unnecessary。 I think that Ahdieh could squish this story into one book。 Two was definitely too much。 And then men alphas 😒 Oh Lord, save it。 Shahrzad was great though! One of my favourite female protagonists。 3,5⭐ This book was a big disappointment。 Although, I'm glad that the ending was unique。 The 'Big Battle' was unnecessary。 I think that Ahdieh could squish this story into one book。 Two was definitely too much。 And then men alphas 😒 Oh Lord, save it。 Shahrzad was great though! Giving this a 4。5, I finished The Wrath & the Dawn in like 3 days (read on a whim because I kept seeing it on tiktok recs) and the plot was different to anything I’ve read this year, then I got to the end and found out there was a sequel。 Immediately started reading it but got 35% and fell into a bit of a reading slump for like 2 weeks (not because of the book, just a mental block when I thought about reading in general) but I was determined to finish reading this today because I’ve got shit loa Giving this a 4。5, I finished The Wrath & the Dawn in like 3 days (read on a whim because I kept seeing it on tiktok recs) and the plot was different to anything I’ve read this year, then I got to the end and found out there was a sequel。 Immediately started reading it but got 35% and fell into a bit of a reading slump for like 2 weeks (not because of the book, just a mental block when I thought about reading in general) but I was determined to finish reading this today because I’ve got shit loads to read on my summer tbr。 The first book focused on building the relationships between the characters and this book absolutely tore them to shreds, it was necessary for the plot but f me this book was a rollercoaster of emotions (I even cried a little at about 70% through)。 Soooo many plot twists my head was absolutely spinning but all the separate plots come to such a satisfying end, there was one reconciliation that we didn’t see that I really wanted to which was sad but this is literally THE perfect sequel! As always Renee Ahdieh’s writing was beautiful。 。。。more

This was such a great conclusion to this duology! With amazing new characters, crazy plot twists, and emotional rollercoasters, I think this may be as good as the first one, which I don’t say often about sequels。I cried so many times during this book, but I also smiled a lot。 I got angry at the characters and I was happy for them and sad for them and I was just so invested in their stories! I wanted them to have a happy needing, but I still didn’t want it to end。 I would definitely recommend this one! 。。。more

It wasn't as good as the first one but still I enjoyed it quite well。 This one focused more on the relationships between lots of characters which I wasn't liking at first but it had a great conclusion for the story and really made it all better。 My perspective changed for lots of side characters which had more focus in this one。 I loved how the author dove into each character it was honestly pretty good。 The only flaws were that it was a little slow paced at first and I was kinda irritated but I It wasn't as good as the first one but still I enjoyed it quite well。 This one focused more on the relationships between lots of characters which I wasn't liking at first but it had a great conclusion for the story and really made it all better。 My perspective changed for lots of side characters which had more focus in this one。 I loved how the author dove into each character it was honestly pretty good。 The only flaws were that it was a little slow paced at first and I was kinda irritated but I'm very happy with how it ended and the characters will have a special place in my heart。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 i like it!! satisfying ending。 interesting pacing 🤔 i like the first one better, but it’s still good。 i have a slight feeling that the author felt like she needed to kill someone off so she killed rahim who was an important character but not TOO important so he could die 😭 i feel like there was a better way to wrap it all up but it’s hard to say what it would be。

This was an amazing sequel。 One of the few examples where I thought the second book was better than the first。 The characters change so much throughout this book, and the author did an absolutely amazing job developing them。 There is a giant twist at the end, but the ending is satisfying。 I don't feel like I need more, I'm happy where the story ended。 If you liked the first book, I know for a fact you'll love this one。 This was an amazing sequel。 One of the few examples where I thought the second book was better than the first。 The characters change so much throughout this book, and the author did an absolutely amazing job developing them。 There is a giant twist at the end, but the ending is satisfying。 I don't feel like I need more, I'm happy where the story ended。 If you liked the first book, I know for a fact you'll love this one。 。。。more
