This was my first Manga and I was a little nervous going into it but it was fantastic。 I really loved the brothers and their story and the art in this was amazing。 It kept me hooked and I ended up reading it in a single session。Will be picking up volume 2 soon

4，5"In altre parole， alla base dell'alchimia c'è "il principio dello scambio equivalente"。 Per ottenere qualcosa è necessario dare in cambio un'altra cosa che abbia il medesimo valore"。Per la serie "nuove edizioni， grandi recuperi"， è giunto anche il momento di Fullmetal Alchimist。 In realtà avevo iniziato questa serie un paio di anni fa in inglese， ma a un certo punto mi sono un po' arenata。 Questa volta sono intenzionata ad andare fino in fondo， a seguire per bene i fratelli Elric nella ricerc 4，5"In altre parole， alla base dell'alchimia c'è "il principio dello scambio equivalente"。 Per ottenere qualcosa è necessario dare in cambio un'altra cosa che abbia il medesimo valore"。Per la serie "nuove edizioni， grandi recuperi"， è giunto anche il momento di Fullmetal Alchimist。 In realtà avevo iniziato questa serie un paio di anni fa in inglese， ma a un certo punto mi sono un po' arenata。 Questa volta sono intenzionata ad andare fino in fondo， a seguire per bene i fratelli Elric nella ricerca della pietra filosofale che li dovrebbe aiutare a recuperare i loro corpi - corpi che hanno subito le conseguenze di un esperimento alchemico andato male， un tentativo di trasmutazione umana （una pratica vietata） per riportare in vita la madre。 Se il maggiore dei fratelli， Ed， ci ha rimesso un braccio e una gamba （sostituiti da protesi in metallo， che sono alla base del suo soprannome）， il minore， Alphonse， ha perso completamente il corpo: è riuscito a sopravvivere grazie all'abilità del fratello che ha legato la sua anima a un'armatura di metallo。La ricerca della pietra filosofale porterà Ed e Alphonse ad incontrare diversi personaggi particolari， cosa che porterà a fare diverse riflessioni sulla natura dell'alchimia e sugli obblighi e responsabilità di chi la pratica。 Compito degli alchimisti， infatti， non è quello di giocare a fare dio， ma ci sono regole ben precise da seguire e da rispettare。 E molti di loro （ciascuno con le sue abilità specifiche） non si fanno problemi ad abusare delle loro capacità per fare del male agli altri， per manipolare le persone， per ottenere un loro profitto personale。 Ecco perché non tutti hanno simpatia per gli alchimisti， anzi c'è pure qualcuno che gli dà la caccia per ammazzarli tutti。 Al contempo， iniziamo a vedere fin da subito il tipo di rapporto che lega i due fratelli: sanno benissimo di aver commesso una sciocchezza， perciò non cercano né pietà né commiserazione， ma è abbastanza evidente il senso di colpa Ed nei confronti di Alphonse e la sua volontà di rimediare al danno subito。Bene， non vedo l'ora di sapere cosa ne sarà dei fratelli Elric， anche perché il finale di questo volume non lascia presagire nulla di buono。 Anzi。 。。。more

First of all， this edition is gorgeous！We follow the Elric brothers on their journey to find out how to get their bodies back。 The first half of the story is more light and fun， however， the story takes a bit of a darker turn towards the end。 There is alchemy， suspence and some humor to lighten it up and make it fun！

Okay first， this edition is stunning and my definition of PERFECTION。 I will be collecting all the Fullmetal Editions and no one can stop me。 The hardback is strong and has a bit of holographic detailing on the cover。 When you open the manga completely you can appreciate a full front and back cover piece of art。 There are also a few pages within the bind up that are full color。 I highly recommend collecting this edition if you are a big fan！ Now onto the story！ I know this manga/anime probably b Okay first， this edition is stunning and my definition of PERFECTION。 I will be collecting all the Fullmetal Editions and no one can stop me。 The hardback is strong and has a bit of holographic detailing on the cover。 When you open the manga completely you can appreciate a full front and back cover piece of art。 There are also a few pages within the bind up that are full color。 I highly recommend collecting this edition if you are a big fan！ Now onto the story！ I know this manga/anime probably better than I know the back of my own hand and can tell you I will always appreciate the story and characters。 This is a prime example of humor and VERY tough topics and themes coming together for a seamless story and plot。 Like you can not get much funnier than Edward freaking out whenever someone talks about his stature。 But you can't get much more serious and heartbreaking than the Elric's back story and the life they live afterwards to right all the wrongs they've made。Within this first volume you pretty much get dumped into a plot and then our amazing author decides to give us back story while giving us an amazing introduction scene。 This helps with you not feeling like the Elric Brother's entire background and history are info dumped on you。 Instead you have the opportunity to get to know each brother and some of the supporting characters while reading the part of the story the author introduces to us。 The first volume is also really important because a lot of the information given to you does at times feel like it was random and just placed there so we could get to know the characters but this manga/anime is really good at bringing everything you learn back in someway down the road。 。。。more

Excited to revisit one of my favorite series of all time！！ Arakawa sets the stage for an epic saga。 Each small episode establishes Ed’s character， the complicated relationship between the citizens of Amestris and the military dictatorship at the head of their government， and the magical and mystical concept of alchemy。 The art is stunning in every panel， and the small jokes tucked into the background make for a great reread。

Absolutely wonderful。 This story is surprising。 It is light and funny one second and then extremely dark and depressing the next。 I can’t escape the immediate love of the Elric brothers and their journey to reclaim their bodies。 Nina’s story will haunt me forever。 Absolute insanity。
