Summary

Crikey, the world according to Clarkson's been a funny old place of late 。 。 。

For a while, Jeremy could be found in his normal position as the tallest man on British television but, more recently, he appears to have been usurped by a pretend elephant。

But on paper the real Jeremy remains at the helm。 That's as it should be。 For nearly thirty years he has been fearlessly leading the charge as one the best comic writers in the country。 And in 2015, he shows no sign of slowing down。

So, whether it's pondering:

If Jesus might have been better off being born in New Zealand
Why reflexive pronoun abuse is the worst thing in the world
How Pam Ayres's head trumps Gordon Gecko's underpants
Or what a television presenter with time on his hands gets up to

Jeremy is still trying to make sense of all the big stuff。

Circumstances change。 Nothing's forever。 But As I Was Saying provides glorious proof that Jeremy remains as funny, puzzled, excitable, outspoken, insightful and thought-provoking as ever。 As if you ever doubted it 。 。 。

。。。more

Classic Clarkson, you either love him or hate him。Even when outdated, his pieces are always hilarious and sometimes even thought provoking。 This is not a cars book and it's a collection of op-eds from a few years ago (like all books of this series), but I loved it regardless。 He's a very good writer, too, which doesn't hurt。Recommended only if you love Clarkson, his personality and his flamboyant sense of humour。 Classic Clarkson, you either love him or hate him。Even when outdated, his pieces are always hilarious and sometimes even thought provoking。 This is not a cars book and it's a collection of op-eds from a few years ago (like all books of this series), but I loved it regardless。 He's a very good writer, too, which doesn't hurt。Recommended only if you love Clarkson, his personality and his flamboyant sense of humour。 。。。more

Clarkson tells it as he sees it。 Very funny at times and sometimes the point is lost due to his reference to very specific locations and situations。

Newspaper columns。 I like Jeremy Clarkson's books。 I don't always agree with him but I like his writing。 Sometimes he can be perfectly sensible。 Other times ridiculously blinkered。 He's funny, entertaining, irritating, opinionated (as everyone should be) although at times his opinions should be tempered with an open mind and facts (as should everyone's) and he's passionate about the things he cares about。 His books are divided into three categories。Car reviewsThere is a review of a car followe Newspaper columns。 I like Jeremy Clarkson's books。 I don't always agree with him but I like his writing。 Sometimes he can be perfectly sensible。 Other times ridiculously blinkered。 He's funny, entertaining, irritating, opinionated (as everyone should be) although at times his opinions should be tempered with an open mind and facts (as should everyone's) and he's passionate about the things he cares about。 His books are divided into three categories。Car reviewsThere is a review of a car followed by a more normal article。 I tend to skip the car part in these book and just read the article bit。Newspaper column collectionsLove these ones。 I laugh at one column, nod in agreement at another, shake my head in disbelief at some and generally have a good time reading them。 As he has said in interviews the columns don't necessarily reflect his true opinion so do remember some of those controversial columns are deliberate attempts to rile people。 And some are real。 Despite occasional disagreements i still enjoy his books immensely。 Subject booksNot columns but books about one thing。 So his motorworld book or i know you've got soul are about specific things。Overall I have enjoyed reading Jeremy Clarkson's books over the years and I always look forward to a new one。 。。。more

Clarkson is great as always — an easy, fun read with the little subtleties in human behavior, psychology and social norms that Jeremy always notices and highlights in his books。

Another entertaining, witty and life observational tome from Mr Clarkson。 I found myself nodding。 Laughing, staring his frustrations and sometimes disagreeing with him。 Well worth the read as we are taken from the joys of world travel, to japes on Top Gear that May have got out of hand, to experiences of genuine fear on occasion。 An easy read in bite size chunks - perfect for winters evenings, summer holidays or for sharing with friends。。。 he’d definitely make an entertaining dinner guest - just Another entertaining, witty and life observational tome from Mr Clarkson。 I found myself nodding。 Laughing, staring his frustrations and sometimes disagreeing with him。 Well worth the read as we are taken from the joys of world travel, to japes on Top Gear that May have got out of hand, to experiences of genuine fear on occasion。 An easy read in bite size chunks - perfect for winters evenings, summer holidays or for sharing with friends。。。 he’d definitely make an entertaining dinner guest - just don’t ask him to do the after dinner speech。 。。。more

I like Jeremy Clarkson。 He comes from a different world and sometimes holds quite different opinions, but he's entertaining and has made me laugh out loud probably more than any comedian has。The book has its moments。 There were a couple of pages that made me laugh a little louder than you should when you're taking the kids to bed。But that was it。 Just a couple of pages here and there。 The vast majority of the collection was decent, and a sizeable minority was plainly dull。Clarkson is great, but I like Jeremy Clarkson。 He comes from a different world and sometimes holds quite different opinions, but he's entertaining and has made me laugh out loud probably more than any comedian has。The book has its moments。 There were a couple of pages that made me laugh a little louder than you should when you're taking the kids to bed。But that was it。 Just a couple of pages here and there。 The vast majority of the collection was decent, and a sizeable minority was plainly dull。Clarkson is great, but this is like watching a match of the day where they show two goals and all of the throw-ins。 。。。more

There was an awful lot of moaning and complaining about very boring British things。 I thought it would be funnier。

Here are Jeremy's columns from 2013 through early 2015, and knowing that his "Fracas" with a BBC producer is about to happen makes reading these a bit difficult。 His writing about his mother's passing and the disastrous ending of the Patagonia adventure show how hard this time was for him。 There's an air of melancholy here that is sad to see。 But Jeremy is nothing if not a resilient and persistent character, and the fact that he can write about his crazy attempt to make pho, only days after his Here are Jeremy's columns from 2013 through early 2015, and knowing that his "Fracas" with a BBC producer is about to happen makes reading these a bit difficult。 His writing about his mother's passing and the disastrous ending of the Patagonia adventure show how hard this time was for him。 There's an air of melancholy here that is sad to see。 But Jeremy is nothing if not a resilient and persistent character, and the fact that he can write about his crazy attempt to make pho, only days after his suspension, shows this to a sizeable degree。 Again, he's not for everyone, and I don't always agree with him, but his voice is hard to ignore。 。。。more

I finished this book some time back and finally I have time to write something about it。 Now it is no secret how much I adore Clarkson。 He has the best metaphors that side of the Atlantic and is quirky, corny and delightfully inappropriate。 Of all the The World According to Clarkson series, I love this one best。 It starts from 2013 all the way to 2015。 Shortly before he got fired from the Beebs。 Clarkson is funnier than ever and has some pretty cringe worthy moments。 We also get an explanation a I finished this book some time back and finally I have time to write something about it。 Now it is no secret how much I adore Clarkson。 He has the best metaphors that side of the Atlantic and is quirky, corny and delightfully inappropriate。 Of all the The World According to Clarkson series, I love this one best。 It starts from 2013 all the way to 2015。 Shortly before he got fired from the Beebs。 Clarkson is funnier than ever and has some pretty cringe worthy moments。 We also get an explanation about how he got started at the Rotherham Advertiser。 It goes a long way into explaining why sometimes Jeremy carries the opinion of the village idiot who attended a few classes in school and then went for a lengthy meeting at a local pub where townsdwellers could discuss what was wrong with the world (and what was even wronger with the people trying to fix it) over a coupla beers。 You still gotta love him though。 Even if he thinks Jesus would have been better off in New Zealand。 Because it's less horrible than Bethlehem。 Smh, but I have a smile on my face that just won't quit。 Who should I consult about that? 。。。more

There is something almost sad about reading some of this。 Hearing Clarkson refer to the BBC he's "known and loved for nigh on a quarter of a century" leaves a sense of melancholy in light of last years's events。 Although reading his introduction that deals with that very issue is a tonic of optimism。All that aside, this presents the usual mix of intelligent common sense and outrageous hyperbole。 It gave me a lot to smile about。 There is something almost sad about reading some of this。 Hearing Clarkson refer to the BBC he's "known and loved for nigh on a quarter of a century" leaves a sense of melancholy in light of last years's events。 Although reading his introduction that deals with that very issue is a tonic of optimism。All that aside, this presents the usual mix of intelligent common sense and outrageous hyperbole。 It gave me a lot to smile about。 。。。more
