Summary

Joe Goldberg is no stranger to hiding bodies。 In the past ten years, this thirty-something has buried four of them, collateral damage in his quest for love。 Now he’s heading west to Los Angeles, the city of second chances, determined to put his past behind him。

In Hollywood, Joe blends in effortlessly with the other young upstarts。 He eats guac, works in a bookstore, and flirts with a journalist neighbor。 But while others seem fixated on their own reflections, Joe can’t stop looking over his shoulder。 The problem with hidden bodies is that they don’t always stay that way。 They re-emerge, like dark thoughts, multiplying and threatening to destroy what Joe wants most: true love。 And when he finds it in a darkened room in Soho House, he’s more desperate than ever to keep his secrets buried。 He doesn’t want to hurt his new girlfriend—he wants to be with her forever。 But if she ever finds out what he’s done, he may not have a choice…

Dnf'ed about halfway through, but I'm putting it in "read" so I don't forget that I gave it a shot。 Dnf'ed about halfway through, but I'm putting it in "read" so I don't forget that I gave it a shot。 。。。more

I'm honestly not sure why I find Joe to be such a sympathetic main character! Enjoying the series and how the books and the show differ in neat ways。 I'm honestly not sure why I find Joe to be such a sympathetic main character! Want to start off with that I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Santino Fontana, did an AMAZING job。 His narration was a 5/5。 As for the story itself, it was really unnecessary。 I really enjoyed the first book, but Hidden Bodies didn’t really add much to Joe’s character and I found the side characters boring and not very fleshed out。 They seemed like they were just there rather than actually shaving distinguishable characteristics

It was a little all over the place for me。 And I probably should have read it before watching the season because they had extremely different story lines I feel like it threw me off a bit。

I LOVED the ending! The adaptation lacked this fantastic ending。

Joe went to LA with money kindly gifted to him by his elderly employer who encouraged him to travel and experience more of the world。 What he didn’t know was that Joe had only one thing in his small twisted mind - to track down his con artist ex-girlfriend and kill her in revenge for ripping him off (the fact that what she stole valuable property belonging to his employer is secondary to his “hurt ego” that she conned him - big time)!Shifty little Joe has big adventures in LA, not withstanding t Joe went to LA with money kindly gifted to him by his elderly employer who encouraged him to travel and experience more of the world。 What he didn’t know was that Joe had only one thing in his small twisted mind - to track down his con artist ex-girlfriend and kill her in revenge for ripping him off (the fact that what she stole valuable property belonging to his employer is secondary to his “hurt ego” that she conned him - big time)!Shifty little Joe has big adventures in LA, not withstanding the fact that he goes on a roll, killing people who get in his way of conning his latest girlfriend。 His revenge mission takes second place when he partners up with the clueless daughter of a rich couple and his energy is focused on keeping her at all costs。 She is his ticket to ride - deluded by love/lust and absolutely blind to the sort of turkey he is。 In short, he cons her big time! Her odious brother twigs what Joe’s about, so guess what happens to him? Ends up dead… Dead bodies all over the place… All are dispatched very conveniently when unlikely opportunities pop up and Joe walks away clean as a whistle。 I found it increasingly difficult to believe that he got away with so many killings so often。 I also found it difficult to be convinced that the rich family of his new girlfriend accepted Joe “Nobody” into their fold。 It is unbelievable that they allowed the little rat into their privileged world when he has no credentials。 I sense a third book about his provenance might be interesting。 The ending was a great little surprise but hardly worth ploughing through the last half of the book which became so twee and unbelievable I felt relieved when it finally ended。 I had HAD ENOUGH of Joe by then。 。。。more

I loved this book! I watched Netflix season 2’s version of “You” before reading this book and was happily surprised to read a different telling of the story。 I liked the book more than the 2nd season of the show, since it was full of surprises as well as a few twists。 The way that Joe has his own enemies and somehow convinces the reader to dislike them as well, just based off of how he describes them, really got me more invested into the book。 Great read, especially when at the beach!

I cannot wait to pick up the next one! Lol I’m literally on the edge of my seat wondering what happens。I watched season 2 of You before I read this book and I’m super grateful that it is different enough that I can thoroughly enjoy both。

I didn’t finish this book as I had to DNF it around halfway。 It was torture to read to be honest with you, I was so disappointed as I loved YOU。 My first DNF and I’m really not relieved about it as I was expecting to enjoy this book but the enjoyment of reading it continued to lessen and I read books for enjoyment not for the sake of it。

More Joe! I had already seen Season Two and was curious how the book was。 I enjoyed the book better but still anticipating Season Three-I am banned by my kids from reading the book first, ha ha。

I absolutely loved the first book, You, and I was totally looking forward to reading the sequel。 I had already watched both seasons on Netflix prior to reading the books, and I had a hard time picking a favourite between the two seasons in the series。 However, this book certainly did not captivate me the way the first book (and second season) did。 I’ll definitely be reading the third and really hope I’ll enjoy it more than I did this one!

What did I just read? You was good。 This is a no。 👎🏼

More plot holes this time around but still worth the read。 More sinister。 More love。

Caroline Kepnes, thank you for bringing Jo and Love into this world。

This book got so many bad reviews, that I almost skipped it。 I just had to know what happened with Crazy Joe though。 I am so glad I pushed through with the series, because I loved it! He meets a new girlfriend, after murdering His last one。 He’s laying low and trying to not be as crazy。 His néw relationship and her family were very entertaining to read about。

Jessica Gaworski

Completely different from season 2 of You on Netflix。。。。same characters but things happen in different orders and for different reasons。。。。。but still just as good。 I’m excited to read the third book and for the 3rd season to come out。

3。5 stars if I could。 It’s so hard when you’ve come off a 5 star book like You。 Then I went in to this with high expectations, and it was disappointing。 The first part of the book seems to be the same hysterical way of writing, making me laugh at Joe and how he sees the world, however screwed up that may be。 That was what made You so incredible。 Being able to laugh at Joe, a serial killer, and know you were laughing at a serial killer, because he was so darn pathetically lovable! But Hidden Bodies lost that fun quickly and became a too-long, Hollywood name dropping disaster, without the fun of cynical, psychopathic Joe trying to kill someone。 In fact, he quit trying to kill someone pretty quickly。 I missed the bookstore setting, I missed the stalking, obsessive relationship material, I just missed JOE。 He wasn’t the same Joe in this book。 What a let down, because You was so fantastic! 。。。more

This was actually my second read through of Hidden Bodies。 I originally read it a few years ago, when You hit Netflix (started by reading You, of course)。 Now that the newest You Book came out, I had to reread Hidden Bodies to refresh my memory。 So glad I did! 10 stars if I could! This book is SOOOOO much better than the Netflix adaption。Joe Goldberg is at it again, falling in his special version of psychopathic love with a sketchy girl named Amy。After a whirlwind summer, Any disappears and Joe heads off to LA to find her。 What he doesn't expect to find though is True Love。Joe's experience as a newcomer to LA was sort fun and interesting to read。 Kepnes on the damn ball with how fake everyone is, hoe you must persistently climb the social ladder to get 10 stars if I could! This book is SOOOOO much better than the Netflix adaption。Joe Goldberg is at it again, falling in his special version of psychopathic love with a sketchy girl named Amy。After a whirlwind summer, Any disappears and Joe heads off to LA to find her。 What he doesn't expect to find though is True Love。Joe's experience as a newcomer to LA was sort fun and interesting to read。 Kepnes on the damn ball with how fake everyone is, hoe you must persistently climb the social ladder to get anywhere in The Biz, how no one walks anywhere, and everyone is a crunchy granola and kale type。The ending to the book was crazy。 We like How despite his murderous tendencies- he seems to have matured a LOT in this novel。 I'm doing to know what happens in the next volume, You Love Me, and hope there will be some explanation。 。。。more

I did some of this book via audible and some of it actually reading via e-book。 I found it interesting; when santino Fontana is reading the book to you through audible, it feels like joe’s misanthropy is the tripled。

Unfortunately, not as good as the first book (classic。。。) While the tone was still great, story line was too random and far fetched。

Didn't love this one as much as the first, although with the last chapter or two playing out the way it did I'm of course interested in reading the third one。 I find Joe to be entertaining, and I also enjoy Love, but felt that there was alot of unnecessary bits and bouncing around in this book。 Didn't love this one as much as the first, although with the last chapter or two playing out the way it did I'm of course interested in reading the third one。 I find Joe to be entertaining, and I also enjoy Love, but felt that there was alot of unnecessary bits and bouncing around in this book。 。。。more

I actually watched the netflix show season 2 before I listened to this audiobook。 I almost always read the book first and I wish I had in this case too BUT a) I saw the show a long time ago and I don't remember it very well and b) what I do remember is so different from the book that they are barely the same story so it didn't spoil it like it normally would。 I liked the book!
