Summary

Tanjiro sets out on the path of the Demon Slayer to save his sister and avenge his family!

In Taisho-era Japan, Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted boy who makes a living selling charcoal。 But his peaceful life is shattered when a demon slaughters his entire family。 His little sister Nezuko is the only survivor, but she has been transformed into a demon herself! Tanjiro sets out on a dangerous journey to find a way to return his sister to normal and destroy the demon who ruined his life。

Learning to slay demons won’t be easy, and Tanjiro barely knows where to start。 The surprise appearance of another boy named Giyu, who seems to know what’s going on, might provide some answers…but only if Tanjiro can stop Giyu from killing his sister first!

MC is well thought-out, his motivations are crispy clear even when the beginning of the story is quite overused。 I like the plotline so far。

This was a fun and quick-paced kick-off to an interesting anime series。 It all starts in Taisho-era Japan, when Tanjiro Kamado returns home from an errand selling charcoal to find that his family has been slaughtered by a family。 After checking them all out, he finds that is little sister Nezuko is still breathing, but she does not appear to be doing well。 After finding refuge in the forest, Tanjiro realizes that Nezuko has become a demon。 He promises to find away to save her from that fate and This was a fun and quick-paced kick-off to an interesting anime series。 It all starts in Taisho-era Japan, when Tanjiro Kamado returns home from an errand selling charcoal to find that his family has been slaughtered by a family。 After checking them all out, he finds that is little sister Nezuko is still breathing, but she does not appear to be doing well。 After finding refuge in the forest, Tanjiro realizes that Nezuko has become a demon。 He promises to find away to save her from that fate and to take vengeance on the demon who killed the rest of their family。Upon meeting a boy named Giyo, Tanjiro finds himself on the pathway to becoming a slayer。 Giyu recognizes for Nezuko as a demon。 After trying to slay her, Giyu realizes two things:1。 Tanjiro has enough talent that he might make a good demon slayer。2。 Nezuko seems able to control her bloodthirsty desire to feed on humans, at least with her brother anyway。Giyu advises that he should get training for demon slaying and where he might get that training。 This volume focuses mostly on that。 。。。more

Starts out as a pretty basic shonen, but I think the characters and storytelling do win you over。

Love this manga so much。 Am a big fan of its anime and movie。 The curiosity in me builds up after watching the mugen train movie。 So here I am finishing the manga and waiting for season 2 :)

This is a great series! It sets itself up as your typical shounen manga, fight - lvl up- fight again。 But the main character has one of the most compassionate hearts I've seen in a graphic novel/manga and that means that he has great respect and empathy for his enemies。 This makes for some beautiful and touching moments in what otherwise would be a very predictable manga。 This is a great series! I loved the cover, which is what instantly drew me to this manga, but I kept wondering why it was so popular? Why the Hot Topic in my area has like ten different shirt and button designs for it? It's good, and I am interested in where the story goes since there was a cool cliffhanger at the end, but mostly I'm just going to try and read a friend's copy, or see if a library has it。 Maybe watch the anime。 Basically, it's good, but not good enough for me to buy it。 I loved the cover, which is what instantly drew me to this manga, but I kept wondering why it was so popular? In the original Japanese, Demon Slayer ran from 2016 to 2020, in Shueisha's Shōnen Jump weekly manga magazine。 I picked up and read the first of the 23 tankōbon volumes of the Viz Media English translation。I then found, to my delight, that the incredibly popular anime series (2019), a craze right now with our friends’ kids in Japan, is on Netflix, and you can watch it the original Japanese (English subtitles available)。 I watched the first episode and it follows the manga precisely but brings th In the original Japanese, Demon Slayer ran from 2016 to 2020, in Shueisha's Shōnen Jump weekly manga magazine。 I picked up and read the first of the 23 tankōbon volumes of the Viz Media English translation。I then found, to my delight, that the incredibly popular anime series (2019), a craze right now with our friends’ kids in Japan, is on Netflix, and you can watch it the original Japanese (English subtitles available)。 I watched the first episode and it follows the manga precisely but brings the black and white artwork to life in full colour, and animated very beautifully。In fact, I can’t see much point in forking out on the rest of the manga (23 x £8), which will use up a lot of shelf space, when I can watch the anime for free on Netflix, which can be a good way to expose my 9-year-old half-Japanese son to Japanese while we’re in the UK。 Regarding specifically the manga, rather than the anime, I have to say the artwork is not as good as Dragonball, Ge-Ge-Ge no Kitaro or anything by Tezuka Osamu; and the narrative isn’t always crystal clear (the anime improves on both these aspects, actually)。 The story, though, is compelling, and I love how it’s set in old Japan。 Interestingly, the anime adds electricity wires to the street scenes that are not shown in the manga。 Not sure yet what the reason might be, as those wires detract from the beauty of Japanese streets, and they also add a more modern element。 。。。more

I really really really love reading this manga。 I think that everyone should read this book。 It is about the story of Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko。 Tanijiro wants to get revenge and kill the demon who killed his family。 This book is sad and funny, and I can't stop reading once I start。 I think that everyone should read this book。 It makes you cry, laugh, and angry。 This is the best manga I ever read。 I think that everyone should read this book, "Kimetsu no Yaiba" to go on the journey with Tanji I really really really love reading this manga。 I think that everyone should read this book。 It is about the story of Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko。 Tanijiro wants to get revenge and kill the demon who killed his family。 This book is sad and funny, and I can't stop reading once I start。 I think that everyone should read this book。 It makes you cry, laugh, and angry。 This is the best manga I ever read。 I think that everyone should read this book, "Kimetsu no Yaiba" to go on the journey with Tanjiro and Nezuko。 。。。more

for the beginning of a series, this makes quite a splash。 i watched the anime first and decided to read the manga to see what comes next and i’m just glad the anime has been sticking to the manga so far。 i love tanjiro so much。 i love a good sibling-relationship。 it was half the reason i adored fullmetal alchemist after all。 the pacing here is fast, but i don’t think that impacts the plot negatively。 i’m excited for volume 2。 all in all, i give this 4 stars (:

My first manga。 I’ve never read these before, but the art is pretty good。 The story seems to go well with the show。 The kids at work love these。 I’d say mostly for grades 4 and up。 It’a a fast read, with a lot of detail and story behind it。

I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure how to review this so I'll just keep it short。As someone who has never read a manga before, I had no idea what to expect when my friend gifted Demon Slayer to me。 It took me some time to get used to reading the book starting at the back and reading from right to left, but that's on me and not the manga itself。Like I said, I don't know how to review something like this since I've never read one before。 I did like the storyline and art so I'll give it 5 stars。 I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure how to review this so I'll just keep it short。As someone who has never read a manga before, I had no idea what to expect when my friend gifted Demon Slayer to me。 It took me some time to get used to reading the book starting at the back and reading from right to left, but that's on me and not the manga itself。Like I said, I don't know how to review something like this since I've never read one before。 I did like the storyline and art so I'll give it 5 stars。 Will I buy the next one, no。 But that is not a reflection on the manga。 This was just not for me。 。。。more

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol。 1, by Koyoharu Gotouge, is the graphic novel the hit Netflix series is based off of。 I will usually try and read the source material before viewing many shows, and so sought this out to read。 It is definitely a high quality manga - emotional, dark and interesting。 It follows a young, hard working boy whose family is killed by demons, and his sister becomes a demon herself。 Interestingly, demons are often bloodthirsty and ruthless toward humans, but some sembl Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol。 1, by Koyoharu Gotouge, is the graphic novel the hit Netflix series is based off of。 I will usually try and read the source material before viewing many shows, and so sought this out to read。 It is definitely a high quality manga - emotional, dark and interesting。 It follows a young, hard working boy whose family is killed by demons, and his sister becomes a demon herself。 Interestingly, demons are often bloodthirsty and ruthless toward humans, but some semblance of humanity resides within his sister。 He vows to get revenge, using his incredible sense of smell - which he can use to trace things, detect things and so forth。 Trained by a skilled demon-hunter and his ghost children, our hero sets off to purge the world of evil demons and get revenge on those that killed his family。This book is quite something: it possesses some interesting world-building and some great manga art。 Its tone is dark, with lots of action cut with some interesting characters。 I liked it a lot, and am looking forward to the next volume。 。。。more
