Summary

Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist。 Even after her mother's death, she leaves letters at her grave。 It's the only way Juliet can cope。

Declan Murphy isn't the sort of guy you want to cross。 In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he's trying to escape the demons of his past。

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can't resist writing back。 Soon, he's opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate。 But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they're not actually strangers。 When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart。

I think this book is a 3。5 just because i wasn’t a fan of the ending for me it all seemed to perfect in my opinion。 Overall though this book is good I’m not sure if I would recommend because it isn’t at all memorable and it’s just kinda boring

As slow a burner as they come。

It was cute, but it swore a couple of times。 I don't think it was to bad, but it you are sensitive to that you may not want to read this book。 There is also a part where it talks about pictures that someone took while having sex。 It isn't graphic but I had to skim through that part。 It was cute, but it swore a couple of times。 I don't think it was to bad, but it you are sensitive to that you may not want to read this book。 There is also a part where it talks about pictures that someone took while having sex。 It isn't graphic but I had to skim through that part。 。。。more

Rating - 4。5 But the letters-those really meant something。 Every emotion came through the paper, as if the ink and dust smudges from her sweat lent weight to the words, and I could sense her fear, her hope, and her courage。 I love this book so much。 With all my heart。 Some would think reading about the seriously messed up life of 2 teenagers might not be good, but Brigid Kemmerer makes it so beautiful。 This book touches your heart in a way that a only a few are capable of。 This book Rating - 4。5 But the letters-those really meant something。 Every emotion came through the paper, as if the ink and dust smudges from her sweat lent weight to the words, and I could sense her fear, her hope, and her courage。 I love this book so much。 With all my heart。 Some would think reading about the seriously messed up life of 2 teenagers might not be good, but Brigid Kemmerer makes it so beautiful。 This book touches your heart in a way that a only a few are capable of。 This book has so much emotion poured into it beautifully。 This book has beautiful written all over it。 Plot The plot of this book was that there is a girl, Juliet Young, whose mother has recently died。 She used to write her mothers lots of letters, and has continued doing so even when she was dead。 Until one day, someone writes back。 This story is written from 2 perspectives - one from Juliet, and the other one from Declan Murphy。 Declan Murphy is the seen as the -bad guy- in the school。 He is close to almost nobody, and is also one with the tragic past。 He writes back to Juliet, and being anonymous, they open up with each other, revealing and talking about everything。 The plot was simple and so good。 There are also moments when something is revealed, that adds to it。 I, personally thought this would be depressing。 Well it was, but it was so hopeful at the same time you can't help but love it。 Characters They were perfect human beings。 They didn't make stupid decisions despite their patience being severely tested, and it was a lot fun to read about them。 Juliet and Declan were both very likeable。 They tried their best to overcome their grievances。 They didn't make stupid decisions。 They controlled their temper。 They did not act rashly。 I loved them。 I loved being part of their journey。 Plus point- unlike many, they weren't annoying。 Rowan and Rev were good friends。 They actually cared about their best friends, understood them as much they could, and didn't boss them around。 Another thing I liked about the characters was their friendship。 It showed what true friendship really is。 I absolutely loved it。 I disliked Alan and Abby, for well, everything they did to Declan。 Yes, at the end everything was sought out, but they seriously screwed up。 As for Juliet's father, he was just nice。 Shout-out to the amazing teachers。 They helped the main characters sense their potential and were nice to them。 I loved their encouraging personalities!Writing For the past few first person books I have read, it did not go well at all。 So I wasn't particularly thrilled about reading this when I found it was not only first person point of view-but from 2 perspectives。 I thought - here comes the confusion。 How wrong I was。 It was the perfect 2 people-first-person-pov。 The writing, was beautiful。 It really was。 It was engrossing, it made us feel emotions - it was the perfect kind for this book。 Now, moving onto the conversations, letters, emails and stuff, which was a big part of the plot, it was perfect。 They talked about faith, paths, destiny, fate。 Usually it seems boring to me but the writing made it sound simple- and interesting。 They coped with their trauma of their worst year ever and I never once felt that it was too much, or it was made for us to feel sympathy for them, wait - that came naturally。 It wasn't the here's-my-tragic-backstory-that-I-am-telling-a-stranger-thing, either 。In simple words - they could talk about anything, and I would find it interesting。 Final Thoughts I also see that in many books, if its about a messed up life, everything is messed up- literally everything。 School, family, friends, everything。 But this maintained the perfect balance, in that, in humor and sadness, in making an impact, but not overwhelming at the same time。 This book screamed beautiful- it also had that written all over it。 I seriously loved this。 I have been wanting to read a standalone for a long time and I have been disappointed most of the time。 I was afraid to pick it up。 But thanks to Bhavya, her appreciation about this one made me pick it up。 It was a wonderful journey。 Thank you, Bhavya! This was also one that had me feel all the emotions。 I could feel everything。 It was such that I felt like I was going through this with them - and it had me screaming - go tell him your identity! GO! (view spoiler)[ Am I talking about Declan to Declan? Yes you are!! (hide spoiler)]This is my favourite standalone - which I hardly have。 It was amazing。 Thank you for making this book exist。 I love this with all my heart。 。。。more

I think I need a break from teenagers。 It’s a good book。 Not romance, more self-growth during the tumultuous teenage years through dark tragedies and non-perfect (as we all are) parents。 But I could have done without the whole “I hate you/her/him” bit。 I think I need a book right now where people actually talk though their emotions and don’t act upon their prejudices。

Modeled on "You've Got Mail" - YA Fiction Book。 Juliet writes a letter to her death mother at the cemetery and Declan - while doing his community service - writes back。He even finds out who she is before she knows it's him。 Seriously, it's the movie。Though I would prefer following just one person, the characters are deeply thought and compelling。 Life isn't easy and sometimes you need to be a grownup about things even if you don't want to。 There is also an element of perspective - thing not bein Modeled on "You've Got Mail" - YA Fiction Book。 Juliet writes a letter to her death mother at the cemetery and Declan - while doing his community service - writes back。He even finds out who she is before she knows it's him。 Seriously, it's the movie。Though I would prefer following just one person, the characters are deeply thought and compelling。 Life isn't easy and sometimes you need to be a grownup about things even if you don't want to。 There is also an element of perspective - thing not being what they seem - that fascinates。 。。。more

Great book! I happened to read “more than we can tell” first a few years ago as a friend recommended it to me and I think for that reason this book didn’t quite live up to my expectations。 It was still a great book but in comparison to “more than we can tell” it just didn’t match up。

this book was incredible。 i just finished it, literally 2 minutes ago, and i’m in awe。 the story is so beautiful and it made me tear up a couple times。 i haven’t read a book like this in months

I can't think of words to describe how beautiful this book was。 All I can say is that if you are a Friends-to-Lovers fan like me, then you NEED to read this book!I love all the characters especially Rev。 After everything he’s been through, I just want to hug him tight and never let go。 I'm so happy he has his own book [which I already bought]。 Declan and Juliet’s chemistry was amazing! I would literally start screaming “JUST KISS ALREADY!” if I was in their world。 I’m so glad they're happy with I can't think of words to describe how beautiful this book was。 All I can say is that if you are a Friends-to-Lovers fan like me, then you NEED to read this book!I love all the characters especially Rev。 After everything he’s been through, I just want to hug him tight and never let go。 I'm so happy he has his own book [which I already bought]。 Declan and Juliet’s chemistry was amazing!
