A classic--perhaps THE classic--children's book。 On rereading it now, I can see how this may have influenced Calvin & Hobbes; Did all that stuff with the cat really happen, or didn't it? Children sometimes experience an entirely different reality than adults。 Fun to think about, but it's more fun not to over-analyze and just enjoy! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Cat in the Hat is a timeless classic book that has been done many times by movies。 The art work and story is all so amazing of how it connects to each other。 The art is so basic but yet so colorful it’s a book no one will forget。 I remember my school every year when I was in elementary would have a Dr。 Seuss day and the whole multipurpose area would be decorated with booths like an indoor carnival and we’d learn all about dr Seuss and play games。 It was so much fun。 After reading this book I wou Cat in the Hat is a timeless classic book that has been done many times by movies。 The art work and story is all so amazing of how it connects to each other。 The art is so basic but yet so colorful it’s a book no one will forget。 I remember my school every year when I was in elementary would have a Dr。 Seuss day and the whole multipurpose area would be decorated with booths like an indoor carnival and we’d learn all about dr Seuss and play games。 It was so much fun。 After reading this book I would encourage reader to watch the movie as well and compare and contrast the two。 。。。more

I read this book before a Clubhouse discussion for a book club。 My first reaction was horror and anxiety。 But the person who proposed the book pointed out that these may be more adult responses and young children tend to be charmed by the rhymes & fun plot points。 I'm not a parent but he is so I'm inclined to believe him。I was definitely tickled by how much they managed to cram in, into a very slim volume as well as the humorous antics。 I read this book before a Clubhouse discussion for a book club。 My first reaction was horror and anxiety。 But the person who proposed the book pointed out that these may be more adult responses and young children tend to be charmed by the rhymes & fun plot points。 I'm not a parent but he is so I'm inclined to believe him。I was definitely tickled by how much they managed to cram in, into a very slim volume as well as the humorous antics。 。。。more

Fantasy Picture BookK-3Perhaps I need to give this one the benefit of the doubt, but when I read this book the message I take away is: do whatever you want as long as you can cover it all up before your mother gets home。 *shrug* That's what I see。 This weird and wacky stranger shows up at the door, bullies his way into the house, and proceeds to do everything in his power to convince the two children to go against their better judgement, and what are clearly the expectations of the mother, so th Fantasy Picture BookK-3Perhaps I need to give this one the benefit of the doubt, but when I read this book the message I take away is: do whatever you want as long as you can cover it all up before your mother gets home。 *shrug* That's what I see。 This weird and wacky stranger shows up at the door, bullies his way into the house, and proceeds to do everything in his power to convince the two children to go against their better judgement, and what are clearly the expectations of the mother, so that they can all have a grand old time together。 He has no respect for the well-being of the inhabitants of the house or for any of the property thereof。 He is selfish and careless but then is a hero when he can miraculously return the house to its pristine state just in time for the mother opening the front door。 And, it's all just been a wonderful adventure。。。So, I don't usually read this book to any children。 I don't feel bad; someone else will。 。。。more

Lastly and regardless of the last comment: this short story tells us the greatest message: do your tasks with pleasant, fun, and don't forget to discover something new💕。 Rating: 4/5。。。 FOR CHILDREN ✨ 。。。more

I have always loved reading Dr。 Seuss's books。 Sam and Sally are home alone all day then suddenly the cat shows up to help them have a fun day! This book reminds kids to have fun。 The text and pictures in this book are so fun and engaging。 They pull you into the story and make you feel like a part of it。 This is a great book teaching children rhymes and poetry。 I have always loved reading Dr。 Seuss's books。 Sam and Sally are home alone all day then suddenly the cat shows up to help them have a fun day! Funny and annoyed to Cat in the Hat but the lesson to the end you have to watch on that。

After reading the book again and again since I was a child, and listening to the new rap version a few hundred times, I have finally figured out "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr。 Seuss! The story does not make much sense on its face。 But there must be something that has appealed to millions of readers over generations。 What happens "objectively" in the story? A mom leaves her two small children at home。 When she comes back, she asks what they got up to。 They can't really remember — they played, but the After reading the book again and again since I was a child, and listening to the new rap version a few hundred times, I have finally figured out "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr。 Seuss! The story does not make much sense on its face。 But there must be something that has appealed to millions of readers over generations。 What happens "objectively" in the story? A mom leaves her two small children at home。 When she comes back, she asks what they got up to。 They can't really remember — they played, but they can't reconstruct what they did, or why。 Whatever they did, it left behind some disorder, but not nearly as much as they had feared。Dr。 Seuss was writing at the height of psychoanalysis。 Can it be a coincidence that the children's play is represented by three opposing forces? The fish tells them exactly what they need to do to conform to their mother's wishes。 This represents the Superego。 But the fish is pushed aside by Thing 1 and Thing 2。 These undefinable beings do not speak and thus lack rational motivations。 They just destroy things on impulse, unable to consider the consequences。 This is the Id。 Mediating between those two forces is the cat, which encourages the children to do try irresponsible things, but also to clean up after themselves。 The cat is the Ego。And since the children can't reflect on their own consciousness, these psychological forces appear to them as external characters。 Long story short: the kids ran around a bunch for no reason, and came close to breaking things while having impossible ideas for games, but eventually reigned themselves back in and cleaned up a little。 The end。A universal childhood experience, no? That must be why it's so popular。 。。。more
