Summary

Every day is leg day in this ultra-cute, bro-tastic high school comedy!

The hunks at Hanamaru Academy are putting the boot (and booty!) to expectations。 Instead of wearing drab blazers, these studs are obsessed with the length of their skirts and the size of their chests as they try to navigate high school。 This high-energy comedy takes being cute and being cut to a whole new level!

Or is it trying to show that gender stereotypes are stupid? I really am not sure。 。。。more

Just for good laughs and light hearted funGotta say, this story made me laugh。 It is an interesting concept of switching the gender norms of clothes and mannerisms。So here is my breakdown down of my 4 star rating: *Added 1 star for the art style *Added 1 star for enjoyability*Added 1 star for changing social norms *Added 1 star for the simple, light hearted, everyday life humor*No star added for character developmentThe characters felt flat in the first volume due to character introductions and Just for good laughs and light hearted funGotta say, this story made me laugh。 It is an interesting concept of switching the gender norms of clothes and mannerisms。So here is my breakdown down of my 4 star rating: *Added 1 star for the art style *Added 1 star for enjoyability*Added 1 star for changing social norms *Added 1 star for the simple, light hearted, everyday life humor*No star added for character developmentThe characters felt flat in the first volume due to character introductions and laid back storyline。 Each chapter feels like just another ordinary day in the main character's life hence no true in depth development。 This is a literal Slice of Life comic at its most fundamental components, so the story isn't in depth at all or thought provoking。 However, for this kind of laid back manga, that is perfect。If you are looking for something with deep meaning or great character development at the start of the series, this one would not be your cup of tea。 However, if you are looking for a light hearted laugh, this should fit that wish splendidly。 。。。more

The complete antithesis to Dick Fight Island 😂 I honestly enjoyed it quite a lot, and I think part of that is how wholesome it is? Exactly zero plot, but it’s pretty self aware and the art is truly very beautiful。

This was pure silliness and I adored it。 I needed this between all the serious books I’ve been reading lately lol!! Beyond the being pure fluff and whackiness, it does act as a good parody of how stupidly many manga series treat women when it comes to fanservice by completely flipping things around to the fanservice being applied to men。 This manga also really honors and uplifts so many different body types and I found that really sweet :) There was even a small discussion about body dysmorphia This was pure silliness and I adored it。 I needed this between all the serious books I’ve been reading lately lol!! The young blossoms of Hanamaru Academy are at the apex of their youth。 Students of the boys-only school dress exclusively in skirts and tight shirts, gossip about the hottest social media, privilege the latest fashions, and enjoy life in general。 Hanamaru Academy is a paradise for young men in search of good friends, a solid education, and the space to be themselves。 The cheekily titled manga THIGH HIGH may be perfect for raising the hackles of any sociocultural doomsayer of western thought, but The young blossoms of Hanamaru Academy are at the apex of their youth。 Students of the boys-only school dress exclusively in skirts and tight shirts, gossip about the hottest social media, privilege the latest fashions, and enjoy life in general。 Hanamaru Academy is a paradise for young men in search of good friends, a solid education, and the space to be themselves。 The cheekily titled manga THIGH HIGH may be perfect for raising the hackles of any sociocultural doomsayer of western thought, but at its heart, the comic is a love letter to self-expression that's all parts wholesome, humble, and funny。Sure, all of the restrooms have skirted silhouettes on them。 Yes, the boys also quibble about the best styles of undergarments to match ongoing trends。 True, even the teachers wear pencil skirts and frilly tops。 And absolutely, the characters sport a good deal of nail polish, eye liner, bronzer, revealing swimwear, and jewelry。 Honestly, it's pretty awesome。By necessity, one might use the adjectives "feminine" or "effeminate" when exploring the aesthetics or behavior of the characters in this manga。 But rest assured, these lines of gender delineation are cultural shortcomings on the part of the readership, from start to finish。 THIGH HIGH, on its own, never deigns to categorize or compartmentalize its characters as such。 For example, the manga's main character, Kiritani, is a straight-laced class rep who not-so-secretly yearns to be cute and popular。 Not unlike his best friend, Harumi, who is short, peppy and adorable。 Kiritani is constantly teased by his classmates for always snapping at them to keep their uniforms clean and tend to their studies。 But in a delightful little twist, the other characters don't berate him for it。 Instead, they give him inclusive advice (e。g。, wear a cute bra) and lend a helping hand。The crux of the book's comical approach to these spritely youths is how most of the young men are either highly athletic or otherwise naturally, exquisitely handsome or refined。 The deliberate contrast of traditionally feminine gestures or behaviors with highly muscular character designs produces a smart, attractive dynamic。 The character Yumekawa, for example, is built like a bulldozer, but he's 100% adorable; he's on the wrestling team and loves anything that's tiny and cute (like Harumi)。 Kitahara is of the strong yet quiet type; he's considered the ace of the baseball team and his delicate shyness is an instant draw for making everyone swoon。 THIGH HIGH uses its awkward and culturally asymmetrical view of boyhood to address the usual whims and worries of the day: failing at home ec, sweating through one's school uniform on a hot summer day, negotiating who sits with who at lunch。 In this regard, the manga is quite bland and unoriginal。 Every school-yard comedy in manga and anime has tread this ground before。 The novelty of handsome boys in short skirts and of muscular yet feminine athletes may or may not wear off by the next volume, but one cannot deny the delightful and clever nature of the title's concept。The manga's only critical flaw lies in the author's decision to use the class rep as the point-of-view character。 Unfortunately, readers only learn about or engage other classmates as Kiritani sees or engages them。 However helpful this may be for introducing well over a dozen named characters in a single volume, it will inevitably prove hazardous for future character development。 These characters' loves, interests, and aspirations will be muted, by and large, because they must constantly be filtered through the spectacles of the nosy but well-meaning Kiritani。 THIGH HIGH is a fun manga with charming characters, but readers must demand more of the author if they're to willingly overlook the title's inadequate narrator and the book's deliberately shrewd take on nascent adulthood。 。。。more

A cute little read。 I blame tiktok for making it pop up everywhere。 Pretty much a world where is boys/men have the same fashion as women。 There are no women in this manga however?? The first volume is just introducing you to different characters and small snippets of their life。 Sometimes the art is inconsistent, but its still detailed and flows pretty well。 It seems easy enough for different countries to enjoy。

I didn’t know what to make of it at first, but I found it hilarious。 Someone commented that this is like nothing new, boys doing girly has been done before, yada yada。 But they play it so straight here, it’s not even just comedy, it’s pure crack。 It’s ridiculous and whacky and funny, and I cannot wait for the next volume。 Don't judge me。 I didn’t know what to make of it at first, but I found it hilarious。 Someone commented that this is like nothing new, boys doing girly has been done before, yada yada。 But they play it so straight here, it’s not even just comedy, it’s pure crack。 It’s ridiculous and whacky and funny, and I cannot wait for the next volume。 Don't judge me。 。。。more

I made the right decision pre-ordering this。I have a lot of thoughts about what this manga says about the state of female sexuality (or, at least, female response to continued awareness regarding hetero-patriarchal views of sexuality?) and why this works so well as a parody, but for now I'll just say: Yumekawa is the only man worthy of my respect。 I made the right decision pre-ordering this。I have a lot of thoughts about what this manga says about the state of female sexuality (or, at least, female response to continued awareness regarding hetero-patriarchal views of sexuality?) and why this works so well as a parody, but for now I'll just say: Yumekawa is the only man worthy of my respect。 。。。more

Oh, wow。 I did not know what I was going to get with this manga, but man。 Go into as blind as you can。 The humor is fun and not offensive and I love how many buff characters they are。Also, I noticed that outside of adding -chan to some characters names, there aren't any pronouns in this manga。 Pretty cool。 Oh, wow。 I did not know what I was going to get with this manga, but man。 Go into as blind as you can。 The humor is fun and not offensive and I love how many buff characters they are。Also, I noticed that outside of adding -chan to some characters names, there aren't any pronouns in this manga。 Pretty cool。 。。。more

Welcome to Hanamaru Academy, a beautiful place, filled to the brim with lovely ladies… who are actually muscled hunks!I just had to read the book when I saw that cover。 I was in the mood for something silly, something weird, something hilarious and this seemed to fit the bill。 Well, after reading it… I can confirm this is perfect if you need something silly。In this book we follow Kiritani, who is the class president of the class。 He is your standard class president。 For real。 Strict, trying to d Welcome to Hanamaru Academy, a beautiful place, filled to the brim with lovely ladies… who are actually muscled hunks!I just had to read the book when I saw that cover。 I was in the mood for something silly, something weird, something hilarious and this seemed to fit the bill。 Well, after reading it… I can confirm this is perfect if you need something silly。In this book we follow Kiritani, who is the class president of the class。 He is your standard class president。 For real。 Strict, trying to do all the things, tries to get involved。 No one listens to him though (or well, most of the time)。 But he tries to make friends and I liked that he kept going (despite it not always going well)。 I also liked that as the story continued he got closer to people/talked to more people。 He is quite a fun guy and I laughed at how he reacted to things, his reactions are just so pure and innocent, haha。Each chapter is something new。 We see the boys wear sexy bras (yes, really) and talk about bras, we see how it is for them when it is hot outside and their bras show (one of them is even wearing a push-up bra), we see them discuss bathing suits vs bikinis, sunscreen/make-up is important!, see that Kiritani wants to be called cute, and much more。 Each chapter made me giggle and laugh。 It is as if you are reading your regular shoujo manga with girls doing girly things along with sparkles and glitters (so much of that at times)… but except for cute girls you get hunky and cute guys。 I really love it! Thank you mangaka for thinking up something so glorious。If the boys are wearing skirts and going to an all-girls school… (and the butler of one of the guys wears a maid outfit) I wonder what the girls are doing? Haha, I am kind of hoping that we get to see them and see the boys fawn over them in the way girls do。I love the chapters have hashtags! That is so fun and creative and it fits so well with this over the top story!I really like the art and how, despite these being hunks with often a fair bit of muscles, the outfits and the actions work very well。All in all, I need more! I want more! This is weird, but also cute。 I love it! Recommend to all。Review first posted at https://twirlingbookprincess。com/ 。。。more

Maybe it's just because of the university I teach at, but "boys wear girls' uniforms and worry about typical girl stuff" doesn't seem like ground-breaking (or any) comedy to me。 Maybe it's just because of the university I teach at, but "boys wear girls' uniforms and worry about typical girl stuff" doesn't seem like ground-breaking (or any) comedy to me。 。。。more
