Summary

An Epic Love Story Across Time

Naho immediately feels a connection to the new boy who has transferred to her class。 Kakeru is calm, kind, and seems to like Naho as well。 But their relationship gets thrown for a loop when Naho receives a letter from the future。 The letter explains that Kakeru will die unless Naho does exactly as the letter says。 But changing fate is no easy task。 When the letter starts to get things wrong, Naho worries that she will still lose Kakeru forever。 Luckily, Naho has her friends to back her up。 Not only do they want to see Naho and Kakeru get together, they also have time-traveling letters of their own。。。

Orange: The Complete Collection 2 also includes a bonus story, Haruiro Astronaut。 This five chapter story is about a pair of twins who discover that they can't share everything in life--or at least not an alien that suddenly becomes a part of it。

5/5 stars。 I have no words。 This was heartbreaking。 I cannot even fathom how sadly beautiful it was in a way that had led a happy ending。 I do know that I will love this manga for years and years to come。

This one pulled at my heart strings so much。 The story gives your life lessons and puts things into new perspectives, I love it! 😭

This is like a 3。5 for me。 At times it was overly peppy for a story about depression and suicide。 But a lot of the relationships between characters and the group dynamics are well done enough to make you want to keep reading。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 It wasn’t as impactful of the last collection and I wasn’t a big fan of the ending。 It felt abrupt and unsatisfactory。I also wasn’t a big fan of the main couple。 I feel like the main guy was her first love but Suwa was her second and her final love。 I also feel like the main couple’s relationship was a bit unhealthy as a lot pressure was placed on the girl to make him happy/ save him。 This placed so much emotional burden on her as well as giving a misleading message to its reader。 I also feel th It wasn’t as impactful of the last collection and I wasn’t a big fan of the ending。 It felt abrupt and unsatisfactory。I also wasn’t a big fan of the main couple。 I feel like the main guy was her first love but Suwa was her second and her final love。 I also feel like the main couple’s relationship was a bit unhealthy as a lot pressure was placed on the girl to make him happy/ save him。 This placed so much emotional burden on her as well as giving a misleading message to its reader。 I also feel the guy was bad at communicating as at one pt he kept pushing her away and hurting her。 She still forgave him but I feel like she shouldn’t have to put herself through that neg experience。 。。。more

This is a copy/paste from my review of Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 1I read this entire series over the course of two days。 Probably would have been less, but work and sleep are a thing。 It's a nice small collection, but very moving。 I will review this series as a whole rather than splitting the books individually。Trigger warning for talk of suicide。 I won't get into it in this review because of spoilers, but just know that it's in the series。 To preface, I had already seen the anime This is a copy/paste from my review of Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 1I read this entire series over the course of two days。 Probably would have been less, but work and sleep are a thing。 It's a nice small collection, but very moving。 I will review this series as a whole rather than splitting the books individually。Trigger warning for talk of suicide。 I won't get into it in this review because of spoilers, but just know that it's in the series。 To preface, I had already seen the anime series twice and loved it so much that I got this series for my collection。 The series does not include the last book, Orange: Future, which I will talk about a bit later。So this series follows Takamiya Naho, who receives a letter early one morning on her way to school。 Upon opening it, she realizes it is from herself ten years into the future。 The letter tells her to avoid regrets she made to change the future。 The first regret - inviting a new kid to hang out with her and her friends after school。 Thinking the letter is a hoax, she ignores it until recognizing many similarities with what the letter says and what happened throughout the day。 From then on, she tries to follow the letter。The manga and anime are so identical (not typical of adaptations since a lot of animes start production in the middle of a manga series run so have filler episodes or new endings before the manga series ends) that technically if you have access to one, you don't really need the other。 I just like having it in my collection because I love the story and the friendship between the characters。 The anime made me cry, so because I already knew the story I didn't think I would while reading, but I was wrong。 I definitely cried。 So, while the letter Naho gets is from her future self, I wouldn't categorize this as a science-fiction, but rather magical realism。 The story goes back and forth between the past and future selves, and the characters from the future do talk about how to send the letter, but I found the how of it to be unnecessary。 There is no real answer anyway, so I found it a bit tedious。 There were questions about paradoxes, however, which I actually did find interesting and which would lead to Orange: Future。Orange: Future didn't get any anime episodes, so this might be another reason to own the manga。 I know not a lot of people like Orange: Future and I can see why。 It's from a different character's perspective and it might be a bit unnecessary to the plot of the rest of the series, however, if there was a paradox and the timeline for their future selves never changed, this would show how their original timeline came to be。 It starts pretty bleak and it kind of made me dislike one of my favorite characters at first, but it actually had a heartwarming ending。 It also made me understand the character a bit better, but it also made me realize it isn't the same character that's in the original story because it's the unchanged future self so their character growth was different from the changed past self, if that makes sense。 So I didn't dislike this, but it didn't really add or subtract from the rest of the series, but to be honest you don't have to read this to enjoy Orange。 Overall, this was an enjoyable series。 It's heartbreaking, yet heartwarming。 It is short, but the story stays with you。 。。。more

My heart has an orange shaped hole in it from reading this series。 I definitely recommend。

I enjoyed this book and the series immensely。 I was able to get really caught up in the story, and care for the characters。 My only criticism is that the series may not be appropriate for a teen audience without context or further guidance on mental health issues。 The story is problematic in that it suggests that you can love someone out of mental illness, and that it’s your responsibility to do so。

The first part of this series was incredible。 It made me rethink so many things。 It made me very reflective。 Nonetheless, I was not walking into part 2 with high hopes。 Commonly, part 2 isn't as good in a book series。 But I was very surprised。 It was amazing。 Though I feel the ending was slightly abrupt, this book had the same effect on me as the first。 Again, only critique is that the ending was a little too abrupt。 The first part of this series was incredible。 It made me rethink so many things。 It made me very reflective。 Nonetheless, I was not walking into part 2 with high hopes。 Commonly, part 2 isn't as good in a book series。 But I was very surprised。 It was amazing。 Though I feel the ending was slightly abrupt, this book had the same effect on me as the first。 Again, only critique is that the ending was a little too abrupt。 。。。more

Really enjoyed the final volume in this story。I sped through really quickly as I wanted to know everything。 What I hadn't anticipated was that the last volume promoted a brand new series so I finished the book earlier than planned。But I loved the plot, loved the characters and I will cherish these books。 It will be a very easy re-read。 Really enjoyed the final volume in this story。I sped through really quickly as I wanted to know everything。 What I hadn't anticipated was that the last volume promoted a brand new series so I finished the book earlier than planned。But I loved the plot, loved the characters and I will cherish these books。 It will be a very easy re-read。 。。。more

I have really mixed feelings about this one。 I really liked the first book, and I thought it’s portrayal of depression was pretty good! However, the conclusion of these characters felt too clean。 No matter how much you love someone, you can’t love the depression away。 These kids are teens doing what they can, but things cannot be helped sometimes, and these tropes tend to be very persistent in media so it makes me feel very conflicted about the story。

What a beautiful story with a beautiful message。 🖤

I loved the second volume as well。 Oh how I loved the friendship in this story。 The ending felt a bit quick still。

Yes, I'm crying (probably even more than when i watched the anime a few years ago lol)。Honestly the time travelling thing was a bit weird bc we didn't even get to know how they did it??? Very cute series that focuses on friendship and vulnerability。 I liked the first collection a bit more than the second (and was a bit surprised that the second collection is shorter than the first。 The last section of the book is the start of a separate manga entirely)。Definitely recommend!

4。5 stars。 god, i really do love this series。 i’ll definitely be picking up orange future sometime soon so i can see my kids as happy adults, but that was a satisfying ending。 i wish there had been more concrete help given to kakeru, like the suggestion of therapy, but i’m happy they were able to help him in the end。 seeing him smile with the others and knowing he’s going to live made all the pain this series brings worth it :)

Leah

I loved this book it’s now my favourite manga series I would highly recommend for anyone。

Honor

I think I would rate this 3。5。 I read the Orange part of the collection last year but this also included Haruiro Astronaut。 I enjoyed that too even though it was short but sweet。 I like the concept of Orange but I believe the start of the series was stronger than the second half。

Alisha

This was just as good as the first one and the little bonus story was so cute as well。 I really enjoyed this! I’m so glad they got to save Kakeru! I highly recommend this one as well! It deals with mental health in a real way and doesn’t shy away from it。 It was beautifully written and beautifully illustrated!
