Summary

The café is boiling。 The atmosphere is clouded with bittersweet coffee。
Three years of desire rip through my body and burst from my lips: “Josh!”
His head jolts up。 For a long time, a very long time, he just stares at me。
And then…he blinks。 “Isla?”

Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on brooding artist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris。 And, after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer break, romance might be closer than Isla imagined。 But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to face uncertainty about their futures, and the very real possibility of being apart。

Set against the stunning backdrops of New York, Paris and Barcelona, this is a gorgeous, heart-wrenching and irresistible story of true love, and the perfect conclusion to Stephanie Perkins’s beloved series。

48th book of 2021 Oh my gosh。 This book is so good。 WOW。 OKay。 So, the characters。 I read Anna and the French Kiss back in February and so it's been quite a few months; I didn't remember who Isla and Josh and most of the old characters were when I picked this book up three days after finishing Lola and the Boy Next Door and yet, somehow I could still feel the magic when the characters make their cameos。 (view spoiler)[ That scene。 And then Etienne St。Clair and Anna's proposal! I gasped and proceeded by smiling all the way to the end of the book (Josh and Isla are everything。) (hide spoiler)] Anyway, it took me a while to realize and recall all the details, because I only VAGUELY remembered a Josh from the first book。 I found the small recap mentions very helpful though。 BUT THE CHARACTERS。 Isla is short (somehow still taller than me。 and yes, it's not part of her character but still!!) and a student at the American boarding school in Paris。 She's the middle child of two siblings, Gen and Hattie, whose relationships with her are developed perfectly subtly throughout the book。 She's known as quiet and smart, but there are sides to her revealed to different characters。 Personally, I found her a truly fleshed-out character who through it's clear the author put in tremendous effort in developing her backstory。 Other than her strictly platonic guy friend Kurt, she's mainly friendless (her past friendships are all revealed throughout in detail and developed)。 She's a loner, who has been fawning after Josh for a long time。 Firstly, I loved her voice。 I loved getting to read her inner thoughts and getting to read from her perspective。 She's so endearing, in the looks-like-a-cinnamon-roll-but-could-kill-you kind of way。 Isla is insecure, and that resonates with readers through her inner monologues, again (I KNOW。 I will never get over her) AND allows her space for character development。 BUT GUESS WHAT? Josh is flawed too。 All the characters are a little flawed and it makes them feel so much more real。 BUT anyway。 The romance is amazing。 I love it, and I love how relatable it is, especially the fangirling and the inner fireworks and awkwardness。 The dialogue is the perfect amount of sweet, steamy, and awkward。 The romance itself is the perfect amount of these。 It's wholesome too。 (view spoiler)[ PLEASE。 THe ENDING WILL ALWAYS GET ME。 Okay, I know the book-writing thing is SLIGHTLY weird but come on。 When it turns out he's been waiting for her to finish to continue with the story it's like OMGOMOMG OTP。 (hide spoiler)] What I really love about Josh and Isla's relationship and the arc of it is how they get together pretty quickly, allowing more obstacles to come into play。 THE BEST BIT IS THIS: there are external factors AND internal ones that the characters have to resolve。 At first I was hoping for more internal conflicts rather than the expulsion stuff, but then it came and the book's promise completely fulfils。 I love how flawed the relationship is, how the characters don't always make the right decisions and yet learn how to fix their mistakes。 The characters grow。 Josh and Isla CHANGE EACH OTHER, and that's beautiful。 The characters also feel like teenagers。 They do impulsive, reckless things and they get punished for them。 They question themselves and think about their futures in young ways。 They sound and think like teenagers。 I loved every paragraph of it。 The story itself and the plot is heavily romance-centered but other relationships and conflicts are brought in, specifically about the characters and their development, how their perspectives change, everything。。。 I really loved it。 OH。 Something else I noted is that when the characters say 'I love you' I don't cringe, and despite everything it didn't feel like insta-love at all, which is completely brilliant。 I love the way Perkins wraps a little element of fate into the relationship, without overdoing it。 I love how the characters are active and how things are constantly changing。 The pacing is amazing too。 I devoured this book。 I came here looking for a quick, fun read that would make me smile。 What I got was a fleshed-out novel with a cast of flawed characters, a book that kept me hooked, and a story I can't help but love。 It's the absolutely perfect finale to the series, and even though the setting isn't as magical as it is in Anna and the French Kiss I could still feel some of the magic。 My thoughts on the series: Although I've marked this on my favorites shelf, I think I might like Anna and the French Kiss more (it's been a while so I can't judge them fairly), so just consider the two as both in between favorites and almost-favorites。 Lola's story I didn't like as much。 Overall, my favorite couple is still Anna and St。Clair, my favorite story might be theirs, might be this one。 But this is a truly good series I recommend to any romance reader looking for something fast and sweet。 This one's, surprisingly, the steamiest though。 Perkins is an absolute master at romance-writing! started 6/12/21, finished 6/13/21 。。。more

I found this book absolutely amazing! I thought it was going to be just as predictable as Lola and the Boy Next Door, but there were amazing surprises during the book! So, kind of mixed feelings on this one。。。 I enjoyed Isla’s story probably the least compared to Anna and Lola’s, but that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it either。 Throughout it all, Anna and St Clair have been my favourite couple, so in the second and third book, I’ve always been excited when I saw them again。 Was a little disappointed that they didn’t appear so much in this book, but it did make sense why they didn’t。 Besides, I loved the reunion of all the characters at the end! I found the relationship between Isla and Josh less interesting to read, however was pleased to follow a relationship with absolutely no cheating whatsoever。 Overall though, I just didn’t enjoy the characters as much and I didn’t love reading from Isla’s perspective。 Despite this, there’s just something about Perkins writing that keeps you reading and keeps you wanting more。 Through the whole series, once I picked up one of the books, I found it so hard to put it back down。 And if I did put it down, I found myself itching to pick it back up again。 Now, should you read this?If you loved Anna and Lola’s stories, then why not complete the series?! However, you’re also not missing out on much, in my opinion, if you decide not to pick this one up。 。。。more

you know your personal life is not okay when feel good romances just make you really sad。 i feel reaally really sad finishing this book。 seeing these eighteen-nineteen year olds thinking as if they’ve found the loves of their lifetimes, it’s too much to handle when you realize you truely have lost your hope and belief in love。 sure, these characters will have their happily ever after together because this is a creation of fiction。 i’m just in a really bad mood😑😑😑😑

Isla and the Happily Ever After is the third instalment in the Anna and the French Kiss series, and whilst I loved the first book, both this one and the second one definitely fell short of my expectations。 What I did like about this book was how it returned to the SOAP setting- the familiar characters and Paris backdrop were all things I loved about the first book and that I felt were missing from the second book。 But apart from that I found the storyline weak, uninteresting and annoying with Is Isla and the Happily Ever After is the third instalment in the Anna and the French Kiss series, and whilst I loved the first book, both this one and the second one definitely fell short of my expectations。 What I did like about this book was how it returned to the SOAP setting- the familiar characters and Paris backdrop were all things I loved about the first book and that I felt were missing from the second book。 But apart from that I found the storyline weak, uninteresting and annoying with Isla being obsessed with Josh and their relationship moving too fast to the point that it was almost unhealthy。 Overall, for me AATFK is the stand out of the series and could be a standalone- whilst the other two books felt familiar, they lacked everything that drew me in initially and I wouldn’t recommend them! 。。。more

I didn't think any book in this trilogy could top Anna and the French Kiss, especially after Lola gained four stars。 I was wrong。 I liked Isla when she appeared in the first book and I'm so thankful she got the attention she deserved! This one was easily my favorite of the 3, the feel of the book was overall different。 Maybe just the way the romance happened was why。 Josh seems like the troubled kid when in reality he’s just going through a lot of life changes, his friends leaving school, a breakup and just the pressures parents put on him。 Isla is also going through lots of life changes, but they find each other despite it all。 Definitely the best of the series。 Still a bit young maybe for me as I’ve gotten older but still c This one was easily my favorite of the 3, the feel of the book was overall different。 Maybe just the way the romance happened was why。 Josh seems like the troubled kid when in reality he’s just going through a lot of life changes, his friends leaving school, a breakup and just the pressures parents put on him。 Isla is also going through lots of life changes, but they find each other despite it all。 Definitely the best of the series。 Still a bit young maybe for me as I’ve gotten older but still cute。 。。。more

This book wasn’t as bad as Lola and the Boy Next Door but it wasn’t as good as Anna and the French Kiss。 The first book is the best one of the trilogy in my opinion。 I liked Isla as a protagonist。 She has an obvious crush on her high school classmate, and she finally gets the nerve to ask him out on a date。 She’s also trying to apply for colleges and figure out her major and what her future plans could be。 Josh as a love interest is okay。 I liked him more as a secondary character in AATFK。 The f This book wasn’t as bad as Lola and the Boy Next Door but it wasn’t as good as Anna and the French Kiss。 The first book is the best one of the trilogy in my opinion。 I liked Isla as a protagonist。 She has an obvious crush on her high school classmate, and she finally gets the nerve to ask him out on a date。 She’s also trying to apply for colleges and figure out her major and what her future plans could be。 Josh as a love interest is okay。 I liked him more as a secondary character in AATFK。 The first half of the book was boring until the couple decided to tour Barcelona。 That was my favorite part of AATFK were the new sites around Paris。 Also, I liked seeing the characters from the other books appear, but I wished that it wasn’t at the end。 。。。more

I mean personally I’d say I loved anna and the French kiss more tbh just because I feel like at some point in this book isla’s insecurities got so…bad(?) and it started getting a bit annoying but i mean I did relate to her actually we pretty much have the same personality, and the ending is DEFINITELY one of my fav parts
