Summary

From New York Times bestselling author Lucinda Riley, The Moon Sister transports you to the grandeur of the remote Scottish Highlands and the gypsy caves of Granada, just as Spain descends into civil war, interweaving the stories of two women searching for their destinies, at the risk of potentially losing their chance at love。

Tiggy D’Aplièse spends her days experiencing the raw beauty of the Scottish Highlands doing a job she loves at a deer sanctuary。 But when the sanctuary is forced to close, she is offered a job as a wildlife consultant on the vast and isolated estate of the elusive and troubled laird, Charlie Kinnaird。 She has no idea that the move will not only irrevocably alter her future, but also bring her face-to-face with her past。

At the estate, she meets Chilly, a gypsy who fled from Spain seventy years before。 He tells her that not only does she possess a sixth sense passed down from her ancestors, but it was foretold long ago that he would be the one to send her back home…

In 1912, in the poor gypsy community outside the city walls of Granada, Lucía Amaya-Albaycin is born。 Destined to be the greatest flamenco dancer of her generation—and named La Candela, due to the inner flame that burns through her when she dances— Lucía is whisked away by her ambitious and talented guitarist father at the tender age of ten to dance in the flamenco bars of Barcelona。 Her mother is devastated by the loss of her daughter and as civil war threatens in Spain, tragedy strikes the rest of her family。 Now in Madrid, Lucía and her troupe of dancers are forced to flee for their lives, their journey taking them far across the water to South America and eventually, to North America and New York—Lucía’s long-held dream。 But to pursue it, she must choose between her passion for her career and the man she adores。 The Moon Sister follows these two women on their journey to discover their true futures—but at the risk of potentially losing the men they had hoped to build futures with。

Really enjoying this series of stories。 This one goes from the Scottish highlands to Grenada in Spain。 Tiggy is a likable character and the Scottish setting sounds beautiful。 I happened to be reading it while Springwatch was on and the Scottish bit was from Alladale, the real location。 It was stunning and they had a wildcat breeding programme too。

I think this is my favourite seven sisters book so far! I loved Tiggy and the story of Spain, flamingo and the chilly Scottish islands。 Beautiful book! She’d a few tears!

Different pace。 After Pearl Sister there was something missing but still。。。 I was turning pages。

3。5 stars。 These sisters are so irritating and the storylines so unbelievable but they definitely get you hooked and I do love the ancestors’ stories。 Am committed to finishing the series now I guess。 This was my favourite of all of them so far。

I didn’t wildly hate this one as much as I enjoyed hating the last one, but it’s still pretty dumb, why do I keep reading them? (I will keep reading them)

This wasn’t it unfortunately。。 dnf at 80%I went in with low expectations because all my friends who have read the series did say this was their least favorite。 Tiggy didn’t do it for me, she didn’t really have an inner monologue。 She told you a lot of the things that were happening, but it didn’t have a feeling like i was getting to know her。 The romance in the present wasn’t for me as well, it was to much of an insta love plus the fact that Tiggy basically broke up a marriage (even though it wa This wasn’t it unfortunately。。 dnf at 80%I went in with low expectations because all my friends who have read the series did say this was their least favorite。 Tiggy didn’t do it for me, she didn’t really have an inner monologue。 She told you a lot of the things that were happening, but it didn’t have a feeling like i was getting to know her。 The romance in the present wasn’t for me as well, it was to much of an insta love plus the fact that Tiggy basically broke up a marriage (even though it was a bad one) didn’t sit well with me。 The main thing about this series that i loved was also missing in this book。 Tiggy already knew were she needed to go, Pa Salt didn’t leave any clues for her or need to tell her anything。 The best pst about the serie was missing! I had a slide hope that maybe the past time would be better, but like with Tiggy’s main storyline it went downhill really fast。 Maria (Tiggy’s great-grandmother) was interesting to read from, Lucia (Tiggy’s grandmother) however was a pain in the ass! Lucia was such a letdown, she was egotistical, selfish, had no apathy/empathy, mean and just childish! She wasn’t a fun main character, if she had more depth or character development it would have been okay。。 but the just got worse! I just couldn’t do it anymore, i made a deal with myself that I shouldn’t feel bad for dnf’ing books that don’t bring me joy and just waste perfectly good reading time that i can use on a book that i am enjoying。 I will continue with the series though, the serie is amazing。。 Tiggy was just not it! 。。。more

This was my least favourite of The seven sisters books 。 I struggled to finish it and just found it lacked the flow of the story as the other books all had 。 Looking forward to reading The sun sister and The missing sister 。

Love the different settings in these books。 Love delving into their various backgrounds as each sister begins to research her origins。

I once again loved it so much! Lucinda Riley's writing style is amazing。 I was litterally transported to Scotland and Spain。 This book surprised me a lot because it was so different in comparison to the other ones。 I still have no clue to where this series is taken us, but I just want to read more! Of the series, this has been the hardest to get my head into。 More like a weird romance novel。

Uudiste valguses kaheksandast raamatust olen mina jõudnud alles viiendani ehk olemasolevatest õdedest eelviimase, Tiggy looni, mis viib lugeja ühelt poolt lumisele Šoti mägismaale ja teisalt hoopis kuumemale maale, taas ühe unustatud rahvakillukese juurde。 Võrreldes eelmiste lugudega pole seal võib-olla nii palju keerdkäike, kuid üha rohkem tekib uudishimu ja põnevust õdede loo üldisemate küsimuste suhtes。 Endiselt arvan, et tegemist on mõnusa ajaviitelugemisega。

Luin ennen tätä 5。 osaa kirjat 1。 (Maian tarina) ja 3。 (Varjon sisar: Tähden tarina)。 Suhteessa aiemmin lukemaani Kuun sisaressa oli raastavin ja surullisin historiaosuus, joka sijoittuu Espanjaan Alhambran palatsin lähelle köyhään ja sorrettuun mustalaisyhteisöön ja flamencon maailmaan。 Toisaalta Tiggy saattaisi olla intuitiivisia kykyjä omaavana ja eläimiä rakastavana jopa suosikkisisareni, mutta hänen tarinansa nykyajassa tuntui olevan melkeinpä sivuosassa raastavaan historialliseen tarinaan Luin ennen tätä 5。 osaa kirjat 1。 (Maian tarina) ja 3。 (Varjon sisar: Tähden tarina)。 Suhteessa aiemmin lukemaani Kuun sisaressa oli raastavin ja surullisin historiaosuus, joka sijoittuu Espanjaan Alhambran palatsin lähelle köyhään ja sorrettuun mustalaisyhteisöön ja flamencon maailmaan。 Toisaalta Tiggy saattaisi olla intuitiivisia kykyjä omaavana ja eläimiä rakastavana jopa suosikkisisareni, mutta hänen tarinansa nykyajassa tuntui olevan melkeinpä sivuosassa raastavaan historialliseen tarinaan nähden。 Tiggyn rakkaustarina oli ärsyttävän ennalta arvattava。 Tietyt kirjan lopussa paljastuvat mysteerit liittyen sisarusten kotitaloon Atlantisiin ja adoptioisään Papa Saltiin jäävät auki ja kutkuttamaan lukijan uteliaisuutta odottaen vastauksia。 Erityisesti historiallinen tarina flamencotanssija Luciasta ja hänen perheestään kuitenkin tempaa mukaansa ja huomasin jälleen viimeistään kirjan puolivälissä olevani koukussa。 。。。more

。。。more

Another sweeping sagaThere is no doubt these books in the seven sisters series are a commitment by the reader - this one is over 701 pages long -but they are easy to read and absorbing books。 I have two favourites so far and I wasn't excited to begin this one when I learned it was set initially in the Scottish highlands but after a slow start I was involved。 This sister is more fey than her sisters, a vegan and more spiritual and you have to suspend disbelief a little with the whole healing hand Another sweeping sagaThere is no doubt these books in the seven sisters series are a commitment by the reader - this one is over 701 pages long -but they are easy to read and absorbing books。 I have two favourites so far and I wasn't excited to begin this one when I learned it was set initially in the Scottish highlands but after a slow start I was involved。 This sister is more fey than her sisters, a vegan and more spiritual and you have to suspend disbelief a little with the whole healing hands and listening to voices from the other side thing which links with Tiggy's ancestors as Spanish Gitanos or gypsies。Lucinda Riley has to be admired for her research and love of history, but I wonder if she didnt bite off a tiny bit more than she could chew here。 given so much of Gitano history isn't recorded and although she intimates the struggles and human costs, the book scarcely scratches the surface of the huge story of terrible suffering they faced in the time of Franco and the second world war。 I feel there is a far bigger and deeper story to be told but what we do learn is fascinating。 Her love of music and dance does come through though with intensity and great descriptive writing and she captures the heart and soul of the dilemmas faced by driven women like Lucia between career and love and family and ambition。Such a clever writer with hints here of the man who is Pa Salt, his secrets and background, what motivated him to adopt six extraordinary girls as babies from every corner of the globe? Why? And what of Zed a figure in three of the sister's lives - ? How intriguing is the back story forming and emerging slowly alongside the format of dual timelines in each book。 A very clever writer and a winning format so on to Electra now 。。。。。 。。。more

I enjoyed this episode of the D'Apliese sisters, but didn't feel as connected as with the previous ones I've read。 Maybe because I don't quite relate to the spiritualism of Tiggy's character。 That said, the historical aspect of the book was totally enthralling, and covered an era about which I knew very little, and which definitely had a lovely exotic flair。 Still loving the series, and am devouring them in record time。 I enjoyed this episode of the D'Apliese sisters, but didn't feel as connected as with the previous ones I've read。 Maybe because I don't quite relate to the spiritualism of Tiggy's character。 That said, the historical aspect of the book was totally enthralling, and covered an era about which I knew very little, and which definitely had a lovely exotic flair。 Still loving the series, and am devouring them in record time。 。。。more
