Finally finished this bad boy。 While this book has a ton of useful information, it filled me with anxiety。 It felt like a very large todo list of goals that I will never be able to accomplish。 Maxwell sort of makes it sound like people choose to be leaders, when I got told by my company。 I didn't have much of a choice, other than quit。 I do want to be the best leader I can but I don't like holding myself to some ridiculously high standard that I'm already failing at, and this book feels like hig Finally finished this bad boy。 While this book has a ton of useful information, it filled me with anxiety。 It felt like a very large todo list of goals that I will never be able to accomplish。 Maxwell sort of makes it sound like people choose to be leaders, when I got told by my company。 I didn't have much of a choice, other than quit。 I do want to be the best leader I can but I don't like holding myself to some ridiculously high standard that I'm already failing at, and this book feels like high standards。 。。。more

Overall, this was a great book! I gave it 4 stars because it’s only downfall was that I felt like there was too much storytelling of the lives of other people that the advice/how to were easily forgotten about。 I will definitely be reading other books by John Maxwell though!

I love John Maxwell's books and this one is no exception! John lays out in an easy to understand format What a true leader must follow to be successful in any field。 He gives great examples of these laws with stories of how they were used in a real world scenario。 Another must read from john Maxwell! bland writing, oversimplified and boring, like this sentence。 Maybe useful for someone wanting to start a chick fil a franchise。

Not bad but not good either。 It feels like a shallow take on leadership but it still has bits of leadership truths in it。 I don't know what exactly about it feels shallow。 Not bad but not good either。 It feels like a shallow take on leadership but it still has bits of leadership truths in it。 I don't know what exactly about it feels shallow。 。。。more

«El verdadero liderazgo no puede ser otorgado, nombrado ni asignado。» En sus 21 leyes, Maxwell no solamente establece principios sobre liderazgo, sino que repasa historias de grandes líderes y cuestiona y aconseja al lector con el fin de aumentar nuestra capacidad de gestionar y mejorar nuestros equipos。 Lo que creo más útil del libro es las preguntas que vienen al final de cada ley, que cómo líder de empresa o de cualquier otra índole sirven mucho。

Great read。 The 21 laws are well explained and supported by great stories。 It puts you in a position to act, to change the way you approach 'leadership'。 It is very simple: if a team fails, examine the leadership。 Depending on the degree of your effectiveness, you will reach a plateau of the impact you can make as an individual; the only way you can increase your impact is through others。 This book will give you sufficient actionable content to start making a bigger impact。 Great read。 The 21 laws are well explained and supported by great stories。 It puts you in a position to act, to change the way you approach 'leadership'。 It is very simple: if a team fails, examine the leadership。 Depending on the degree of your effectiveness, you will reach a plateau of the impact you can make as an individual; the only way you can increase your impact is through others。 This book will give you sufficient actionable content to start making a bigger impact。 。。。more

A really excellent book on leadership; it's a classic for a reason。 I like that he drew on his own experiences, but also those of many different well-known leaders, to prove that these principles are effective in any line of work。 A really excellent book on leadership; it's a classic for a reason。 I like that he drew on his own experiences, but also those of many different well-known leaders, to prove that these principles are effective in any line of work。 。。。more

I do agree with John's 21 laws of leadership, he knowledge and experience comes out as well as his research。 I do find that overall, it's a basic conversation on traits that good leaders have, chances are you will not have all 21。 I wished he dove deeper into either how to develop them or what to look for in someone to compliment your leadership。 This was a great summary book, now to find a much deeper conversation on these laws。 I do agree with John's 21 laws of leadership, he knowledge and experience comes out as well as his research。 I do find that overall, it's a basic conversation on traits that good leaders have, chances are you will not have all 21。 I wished he dove deeper into either how to develop them or what to look for in someone to compliment your leadership。 This was a great summary book, now to find a much deeper conversation on these laws。 。。。more

very concise and easy to read through the laws/examples; funny how some laws put into words practices that i’ve personally adopted; seems like it’s catered towards organizations (even tho i’m thinking in terms of school clubs/orgs rn) but good to be a better leader anywhere; also had helpful self-reflection questions and methods to put the laws into practice !! would recommend everyone to read !!

Full of anecdotes and maxims, many of which are interesting, but nearly all of which are outdated。 In a world where we have top-tier university professors collecting data and stories to show what really works in leadership, there are better books to read on leadership than this collection of one man's experiences。 Light and quick to read, but I won't be picking it up again。 Full of anecdotes and maxims, many of which are interesting, but nearly all of which are outdated。 In a world where we have top-tier university professors collecting data and stories to show what really works in leadership, there are better books to read on leadership than this collection of one man's experiences。 Light and quick to read, but I won't be picking it up again。 。。。more

Pausing to return - we were reading this as a management team at work but decided to work through another book at the moment that might help us with our current COVID-recovery stage a little better。

Amazing way to split and explain skills a leader should invest。 The way its narrated helps in the journey to understand the laws and there are a lot of good examples as well!

I usually steer clear of books about leadership because (i) they feel too much like work, (ii) they are too generic, (iii) I find it difficult to connect to them。 I however, really liked the flow of the 21 irrefutable laws。 They also echoed things I myself believe in, and teachings I have come across in other leadership books I have found valuable。 The fundamental lesson I take away is that small things make a big difference。 And Mr Maxwell is right (and I am largely paraphrasing here) - the one I usually steer clear of books about leadership because (i) they feel too much like work, (ii) they are too generic, (iii) I find it difficult to connect to them。 I however, really liked the flow of the 21 irrefutable laws。 They also echoed things I myself believe in, and teachings I have come across in other leadership books I have found valuable。 The fundamental lesson I take away is that small things make a big difference。 And Mr Maxwell is right (and I am largely paraphrasing here) - the one thing to know about leadership is that there is more than one thing to know about leadership :) 。。。more

Great book on the importance of leadership and simple areas you can consider and work on improving to become a good leader。 Definitely something to gloss over the next few years to continue to improve soft skills。

Maxwell’s endorsement on servant leadership and his biblical influence are quite obvious in most of his writings - this book is no exception。 “True leadership cannot be awarded, appointed, or assigned。 It comes only from influence, and that cannot be mandated。 It must be earned。” It’s a good way of putting what leadership is about。 For many motivational speakers, leadership has become a pet topic。 They use fascinating words to describe leadership in ways a common audience can go impressed。 Wheth Maxwell’s endorsement on servant leadership and his biblical influence are quite obvious in most of his writings - this book is no exception。 “True leadership cannot be awarded, appointed, or assigned。 It comes only from influence, and that cannot be mandated。 It must be earned。” It’s a good way of putting what leadership is about。 For many motivational speakers, leadership has become a pet topic。 They use fascinating words to describe leadership in ways a common audience can go impressed。 Whether the speakers own proper experience is a question。 In fact, leadership is not about how well you describe it。Without refuting the 21 laws, we can say the book didn't refer much from different organizations including business and the equivalents。 。。。more
