From Head to Toe can be used with children to target language concepts of body parts。 It also can be used to work on imitation of gross body movements (turn head, bend neck) for children that may not be using words yet。 With children who have more language, I like that it also can be used to target the pronouns "I" which develop during Brown's Stage I, between 18-24 months。 From Head to Toe can be used with children to target language concepts of body parts。 It also can be used to work on imitation of gross body movements (turn head, bend neck) for children that may not be using words yet。 With children who have more language, I like that it also can be used to target the pronouns "I" which develop during Brown's Stage I, between 18-24 months。 。。。more

I enjoyed this even more after watching how Eric Carle makes his illustrations。 The kids enjoyed this simple, but interactive, story。

Aarvik

Animals is what Aarvik loves so was this book for him。

Jocelyn Cervantes

A great story to get children up on their feet and moving along while you read!

Jace Gwinn

this is another engaging book that shows some of the worlds most beautiful animals and has children mimic the things those animals do。

Angie

Good for my students learning body parts but overall kinda boring。

Catherine Woodman

The hungry caterpillar is one of my favorite books, and while this isn’t wig that caliber, it is quite good。

I remembered erm for art technique I describe here。I knew of The Very Hungry Catepillar and of The Very Quiet Cricket which I read to my son now fully grown and not interested in any books by Eric Carle。 I still am。This body awareness book can help a small child to identify body abilities and to reinforce innate awareness of connections with animals。 I am rating this book at a three because the concept is good and because I like the art。 I am rating the book no higher as there are yoga books for I remembered erm for art technique I describe here。I knew of The Very Hungry Catepillar and of The Very Quiet Cricket which I read to my son now fully grown and not interested in any books by Eric Carle。 I still am。This body awareness book can help a small child to identify body abilities and to reinforce innate awareness of connections with animals。 I am rating this book at a three because the concept is good and because I like the art。 I am rating the book no higher as there are yoga books for children that depict safer positioning of the body。About the art。 Loving the technique used to create the illusion of fur。 I see the etching--where a lower level is exposed by scratching off the top layer。 Then lower level seems to be a water-based medium and the higher a wax-based medium。 I could do this with water color pencils and wax-based art pencils。 Maybe a new coloring technique to try when I color cats? 。。。more

Zander, my 5-year-old, loved showing me that he could do what the animals in this book can do。 He loved this book!

Lots of fun and exuberant action words in this colorful book, which encourages young readers to move like a variety of animals。

Children ADORE this book! So much fun。 The Spanish version De la cabeza a los pies is also wonderful—really helpful if you're in a dual-language classroom, as the vocabulary is all very contextual/clear from the illustrations。 Children ADORE this book! I love books that get my kids interacting with them。 This is such a simple but fun one。

Our kid loves this book。 Somewhere (maybe on the book?) I saw it suggested that the book is for ages 4+。 But we started reading it around kid’s first birthday。 By 16 months, she was doing all the motions—even shrugging her shoulders and shaking her head when we come across buffalo and penguins in on other books! For bilingual families: I prefer the “Claro que sí” of the Spanish version to the “I can do it!” of the English。

Katie

I thought this book was boring, until。。。 my kids started doing the actions along with the book。 Now my little buddy shrugs his shoulders like a gorilla, randomly, throughout the day。 Awesome。

Animals perform a certain movement and children copy them with the exclamation "I can do it!" Cute。 My daughter acted out the animals as we went, so it was fun。

Jennifer Leigh

May try this again in a few months; not ready to try and mimic the actions。 Plus hard to demonstrate the actions while holding a baby。

Great invitation to move! As usual, beautiful illustrations!

A fun book to read with your kids when they need some guided movement。 You can use this book to expand knowledge on animals or body parts。 But, really it is just a good book for young children to start building associations between animals and humans; instructions and following directions。
