Summary

3。5 really。 Maybe even closer to 4。 I read this in one day and really liked it。 It’s very imaginative and there are some really delicious elements to this world that I would have gobbled down as a kid。 It’s got whiffs of HP and Northern Lights， a bit of Hunger Games and even some Star Wars vibes。。。 but I guess that’s just the genre and the inspiration。 Looking forward to reading the others that are out， and totally excited that they’re by a female Australian author！！ We love to see it！！

"The point is—as far as the Society is concerned—if you are not honest， and determined， and brave， then it doesn’t matter how talented you are。"Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow is about Morrigan， who is a cursed child， blamed for every little thing going wrong in the world because she is fated to die soon。 But on the eve of her death-day， a man turns up to whisk her away to a new country and to a new way of living that she has never experienced before。 But to be able to stay here， she has "The point is—as far as the Society is concerned—if you are not honest， and determined， and brave， then it doesn’t matter how talented you are。"Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow is about Morrigan， who is a cursed child， blamed for every little thing going wrong in the world because she is fated to die soon。 But on the eve of her death-day， a man turns up to whisk her away to a new country and to a new way of living that she has never experienced before。 But to be able to stay here， she has to pass four trials， or she will go back to her old world where possible death awaits her。This was brilliant！ What an absolutely heart-warming， funny， and amazing book。 Not only is this one of my favourite middle-grades ever， I think that this will be one of my favourite fantasies ever。 I just loved it so much and had the best time reading it。 I cannot tell you how many times that I was laughing out loud。 Townsend knows how to write a great book that will both appeal to children and adults。 I have already decided to buy this one to all my nieces and nephews。Not only was the writing brilliant， the characters were as well。 I especially loved Jupiter North and his relationship with Morrigan。 I don't like it when children's books get rid of the adults （I can understand why they do it， but the adult in me just feels wrong when allowing young children to just do whatever they want）。 But I think that Townsend got the note right between child independence and adult interference。 I wouldn't have been mad if Jupiter was in it more， but I think that children will like this balance greatly。 Morrigan was also very sweet， and she was so sassy; I love how she was always voicing exactly what I was thinking。 I am so excited to follow her journey！The plot was amazing！ We got the right balance between whimsy descriptions （and there are so many descriptions to explain this wondrous new land we got to visit; it really brought everything to life， and I loved it） and plot and action scenes。 The four trials were really interesting， and I am excited to learn more about the Wondrous Society。 But though the trials were the main focus， there was still so many other things going on。 And I have to say there were a lot of plot twists that I definitely did not see coming！I cannot wait to continue on in the series， because if it continues as it has started， then I think we have found a new favourite series！ I mean， Jupiter sums this up the best:"Fasten your seat belt， Morrigan Crow。 And whatever you do， don’t close your eyes。”“What happens if I close my eyes？”“You miss the fun。” 。。。more
