Summary

4。5 estrellas。Estoy realmente in love con este manga。 En general me cuesta conectar con este formato， pero lo sigo intentando por joyitas como esta。 No solo tenemos un dibujo precioso y unos diseños de personajes muy distintivos， sino que también una historia que omg。。。Ao No Flag es un slice of life que sigue la vida escolar de un grupo de chicos en su último año de colegio。 La premisa es simple， muy de shojo incluso， donde a un personaje le gusta una niña， pero igual la ayuda a conquistar a otr 4。5 estrellas。Estoy realmente in love con este manga。 En general me cuesta conectar con este formato， pero lo sigo intentando por joyitas como esta。 No solo tenemos un dibujo precioso y unos diseños de personajes muy distintivos， sino que también una historia que omg。。。Ao No Flag es un slice of life que sigue la vida escolar de un grupo de chicos en su último año de colegio。 La premisa es simple， muy de shojo incluso， donde a un personaje le gusta una niña， pero igual la ayuda a conquistar a otro chico。 Incluso tiene una especie de pentágono amoroso bien dramático， muy adolescente y que debería odiar por principio。 Sin embargo， milagrosamente， todo funciona a la perfección。 A pesar de sus clichés， la forma en que está ejecutado es lo que hace toda la diferencia。 Se enfoca muchísimo en los personajes， quienes se sienten súper humanos y se van desarrollando de una forma muy linda， tanto en cuanto a sí mismos como en relación a sus compañeros。 Es eso lo que te hace no querer parar de leer y le da a Ao No Flag su originalidad—eso y el componente LGBT。 Por ahora solo se ha atisbado， sabemos que ciertos personajes son gay y que tienen sentimientos no correspondidos， pero tengo toda la fe que se profundizará más en el próximo volumen。Se nota que va a ser una historia agridulce， sobre lo difícil que es crecer y relacionarse con otros， sobre lo complicado del amor adolescente y lo lindo que puede ser al mismo tiempo。 Y creo que disfrutaré cada segundo de destrucción de mi corazón。 。。。more

What an amazing， beautifully written and drawn story！ Just about every page is perfect in terms of pacing， characterization， design， and visual narrative， with each visual choice complementing and extending the dialogue in ways that words alone could not do。 There's also a well done mix of drama and comedy in this slice of life manga about third year students at a Japanese high school。 Beyond the storytelling， creator KAITO has some killer technical skills as an artist - just look at his drawing What an amazing， beautifully written and drawn story！ Just about every page is perfect in terms of pacing， characterization， design， and visual narrative， with each visual choice complementing and extending the dialogue in ways that words alone could not do。 There's also a well done mix of drama and comedy in this slice of life manga about third year students at a Japanese high school。 Beyond the storytelling， creator KAITO has some killer technical skills as an artist - just look at his drawing of hands and the accurate depiction of tendons at the wrist， or the panel sequences without any dialogue where the story is conveyed through facial expression or the selected shots of a room， mall or theater， for instance。 Futaba Kuze is a shy， withdrawn girl， cute in her own way but mousy if judged by common high school boy standards， who likes all-around jock and truly nice guy， Toma Mita。 Taichi Ichinose is a short， thin， nerdy boy who used to be childhood friends with Toma， and who finds himself helping Futaba find ways of getting to know Toma。 Meanwhile， Itachi is a serious， sharp- toungued， attractive girl who looks out for Futaba and sees Taichi’s efforts to help Futaba as self-serving and cowardly - and doesn't think much of Toma， either。I don't want to give away too much， but there is an LGBTQ theme that's part of this storyline， though it may not be evident at first。 But that's just one aspect of this well-rounded look at the lives of 4 teenagers in a manga that relies on， and benefits from， a strong ensemble cast of characters。 Again， it’s beautifully done and I've ordered the next several books on the series。 In fact， I've ordered the paperbacks of each volume - I have the first one on my Kindle， which is what I read， but it's clear to me that this is way to good to simply exist electronically in a tablet。 I always by physical copies of the best books to add to my library， which is where this one is going。 。。。more

This is a hell of a gem。 I binge read it in one sitting。 I think it's gonna be a comfort read for me from now on。 I'm not into romance highschool dramas much but this one hits different。 I got attached to the characters soo much。 Lots of angst and tears and bewilderment typical for teens trying to shape their views on the world and themselves through their day to day experiences。 Sometimes it's sweet， sometimes it's heart wrenching but either way it was realistic。 The manga is beautifully writte This is a hell of a gem。 I binge read it in one sitting。 I think it's gonna be a comfort read for me from now on。 I'm not into romance highschool dramas much but this one hits different。 I got attached to the characters soo much。 Lots of angst and tears and bewilderment typical for teens trying to shape their views on the world and themselves through their day to day experiences。 Sometimes it's sweet， sometimes it's heart wrenching but either way it was realistic。 The manga is beautifully written and I was amazed how mature it was addressing certain themes。I was not completely satisfied with the ending。 It was a bit vague， rushed and no details were given to the establishment of our lead and his partner's lives in the last chapter。 I think it needed more chapters to better conclude their character arcs and due to the time skip we didn't get to see their relationship blossoms。It was still a wholesome reading experience overall and I highly recommend it。I give it an 8/10。 。。。more
