Honest opinion, Asahi's presence always bugged me。 He has always been a contrary spirit in the team。 One would think, the biggest, meanest-looking, samurai guy would have more guts than the tiniest one。 But he is also such a soft character that you can't help but love him。So when the soft guy, who has a history of being dispirited in the face of tenacious blocks, faces the Nationals level team, with the most advanced blocking techniques- well, tough times ahead。 This one set taught me so much mo Honest opinion, Asahi's presence always bugged me。 He has always been a contrary spirit in the team。 One would think, the biggest, meanest-looking, samurai guy would have more guts than the tiniest one。 But he is also such a soft character that you can't help but love him。So when the soft guy, who has a history of being dispirited in the face of tenacious blocks, faces the Nationals level team, with the most advanced blocking techniques- well, tough times ahead。 This one set taught me so much more about blocking than what I'd previously learnt slow and steady。But Asahi does break through the wall。 And boy is it beautiful to watch。 The subsequent pages- even the focus and angles had me emotional。 Oh and the reaction of ALL the blockers, including the ones watching on the sidelines, Kuroo and Aone and Futukuchi- pure comedy。On the other hand, Hinata does it again。 The complete "Notice me Blockers(Senpai)" vibe with Suuga's offhand comment of it sounding like love, and then the BOOM JUMP??Hinata's face, when the Blocker tells him that he will get Hinata next time, PRICELESS。 Intimidated? Pffffft。 Hinata is EXCITED。 This is what he feeds on。 His almost-orgasmic expression had me rolling。The manga is coming to an end。 I'm jittery。 I don't want it to。 EVER。 。。。more

This was such a good volume。 I loved seeing the ace finally let go and trust himself。 The game completely shifted once that happened。 There wasn’t a huge focus on Kageyama and Hinata this was a bit more focused on the team and the ace, which was a nice change of pace。 Overall I really liked this volume and I can’t wait to see what happens next。

Tsukishima was always my least favourite character on Karasuno's "main" cast。 Then, against Shiratorizawa, he became really interesting and has slowly been rising up my rankins quickly。 So who gets left at the bottom now? They are all great characters, but someone has to be the lowest。 I don't count the very minor characters, like Ennoshita and Kinoshita, who are great supporting cast but don't get enough time to feel like "main" characters the same as Hinata and Kageyama, or Tanaka, or even Sug Tsukishima was always my least favourite character on Karasuno's "main" cast。 Then, against Shiratorizawa, he became really interesting and has slowly been rising up my rankins quickly。 So who gets left at the bottom now? Where has he come since then? His fellow third-year Daichi has a unique role as the stern team captain and a cornerstone of the team's defense。 The third of the trio, Sugawara, uses his role as a secondary setter to make interesting offensive plays。 The other wing spiker, Tanaka, has a character arc about him growing into the role of the "ace" and his motivation。 But Asahi is left behind。 He's got a great serve, he's adequate (and tall) for defense, and he's often given the ball to do a powerful spike。 But that's it, he's given the ball for a powerful hit that looks cool。 That's how Haruichi Furudate has been using him。 He is the one who scores off of *Hinata's* decoy。 He is the one who gets *Kageyama's* brilliant set。Who is Asahi? This volume asks you that, and gives you one hell of an answer。Oh, and then you get some prime Tsukishima and Hinata content, with the two rookies finding new ways to put their talents into action after spending a series honing them。 。。。more

I appreciate Furudate giving us insight into Hirugami's past, not only with how he used to play, but how he met Korai and the changes he made to his playing style after that。 Plus, circling back to those extra practices in the Miyagi Training Camp arc to explain why Kei did what he did at the end of Set 2? Genius。 I appreciate Furudate giving us insight into Hirugami's past, not only with how he used to play, but how he met Korai and the changes he made to his playing style after that。 Plus, circling back to those extra practices in the Miyagi Training Camp arc to explain why Kei did what he did at the end of Set 2? exciting! happy to see some asahi and tsukishima successes after several thwarted attempts。 hirugami's backstory illustrates the crushing weight expectations and burnout can cause, especially with young kids who are not yet exposed to the ever-mutable facet of life。 exciting! happy to see some asahi and tsukishima successes after several thwarted attempts。 hirugami's backstory illustrates the crushing weight expectations and burnout can cause, especially with young kids who are not yet exposed to the ever-mutable facet of life。 。。。more
