How the mighty have fallen。 Anna K, once the golden girl of Greenwich, CT, and New York City, has been brought low by a scandalous sex tape and the tragic death of her first love, Alexia Vronsky。 At the beginning of the summer, her father takes her to the other side of the world, to connect with his family in South Korea and hide her away。 Is Anna in exile? Or could this be her chance to figure out who she really is?

Back in the U。S。, Lolly has forgiven Steven for cheating on her, and their relationship feels stronger than ever。 But when Lolly meets a boy at her beloved theater camp, she has to ask herself how well Steven will ever really know her。 Meanwhile, in Manhattan, everything between Kimmie and her new boyfriend, Dustin, is easy--except when it comes to finally having sex。 And Bea escapes to LA, running away from her grief at her beloved cousin's death, until a beautiful stranger steals her heart。 Is Bea ready to finally forgive Anna, and let herself truly fall in love for the very first time?

Set over the course of one unforgettable summer, Jenny Lee's Anna K Away is full of the risk, joy, heartbreak, and adventure that mark the three months between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next。

Vronsky's fate in the last book affected me more than most stories I've read。 I was not ready to be confronted with the reality of his death so soon, so I wasn't really enjoying the book at the beginning。 But slowly, I realized I had to let him go just as much as Anna, so I was grateful to share in her journey towards healing and self-discovery。Anna is such a compelling character that you can't help rooting for her。 I think that goes for almost all of the main characters, although I honestly did Vronsky's fate in the last book affected me more than most stories I've read。 I was not ready to be confronted with the reality of his death so soon, so I wasn't really enjoying the book at the beginning。 But slowly, I realized I had to let him go just as much as Anna, so I was grateful to share in her journey towards healing and self-discovery。Anna is such a compelling character that you can't help rooting for her。 I think that goes for almost all of the main characters, although I honestly didn't enjoy Bea's chapters as much as the others。 I did like Tiare, though。 It was nice that the book ends on a hopeful note, letting the reader imagine happy futures for everyone if she so chooses。 I would definitely recommend this series。 。。。more

Wow! There's a lot to unpack in this book。 It was one of my most anticipated Spring and Summer 2021 reads after flying through Anna K last year。 I loved the diverse cast of characters (especially getting to see more of Bea's life and learning more about Korean culture through Anna's summer travels)。 I enjoyed each set of character's storylines but so much of the book felt rushed。 I wanted a few more details or at least for certain events to last more than a chapter。 That plot twist of an ending Wow! Best read (or listened to) in a short session。Thank you to Libro。fm for the Advance Listening Copy! All views are my own。 。。。more

I enjoyed some of the characters' storylines, such as Lolly/Dean & Bea/Tiare, but this sequel was nowhere near as good as the first one in my opinion, and I'm sad about it): Still can't wait to read more of Jenny Lee's work in the future though! The thing I liked most about this sequel to Anna K was the format。 I loved that each character had their story so uniquely their own。 Everyone is scattered across the glove after the tragic event that happened at the end of book 1, and each individual story was really good in its own right。 Then, when they all come together at the end, I really like how everything melded together and wrapped up。 If you read Anna K, jump back in to the lives of the rich and the Asian and you'll enjoy this brain c The thing I liked most about this sequel to Anna K was the format。 I loved that each character had their story so uniquely their own。 Everyone is scattered across the glove after the tragic event that happened at the end of book 1, and each individual story was really good in its own right。 Then, when they all come together at the end, I really like how everything melded together and wrapped up。 If you read Anna K, jump back in to the lives of the rich and the Asian and you'll enjoy this brain candy read this summer! 。。。more

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。Now while I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, Anna K: A Love Story, I will admit that I was actually pretty excited to dive into Anna K: Away。 Which, yeah, sounds super weird while I'm typing this but oh well。 I said what I said people。The reason why I was excited was because I really enjoyed reading Crazy Rich Asians。 I'm still not a huge fan of the Gossip Girl vibes but I was willing to make an exception if this turned I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。Now while I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, Anna K: A Love Story, I will admit that I was actually pretty excited to dive into Anna K: Away。 Which, yeah, sounds super weird while I'm typing this but oh well。 I said what I said people。The reason why I was excited was because I really enjoyed reading Crazy Rich Asians。 I'm still not a huge fan of the Gossip Girl vibes but I was willing to make an exception if this turned out better than the previous one。 Spoiler alert: I still don't like anyone。 Maybe it's the characters, drama, romance, or anything else in between but there's just something that rubs me the wrong way。 I tried, like really tried to find one thing to like and right now - that's the ending。 In the end, I just don't think this book was for me but I am glad that I took the risk to dive into it。 。。。more

Received this book from booksparks in exchange for a review。 I overall enjoyed this book it was interesting to see the group dynamic after the death of Alexia。 It was also insightful when it comes to death and the different ways everyone copes with it。 You get to see the rawness and trueness if Anna come out as she try’s to become more herself。 The only downside to this book was the beginning which was a tad bit slow however after it picked up the book was really interesting。

A follow-up to Anna K, which in itself was a retelling of Anna Karenina, set in modern day wealthy NYC with Anna K。 established as a rich and privileged half-Korean, half-WASPy teen。 Anna K Away was about the same for me as the first: I don’t have a lot of experience with the source material (and I imagine I would appreciate this better if I did), but it’s fun。 There are a tad too many characters for me, but I like this one a bit more since it takes is to fun international locations, especially A follow-up to Anna K, which in itself was a retelling of Anna Karenina, set in modern day wealthy NYC with Anna K。 established as a rich and privileged half-Korean, half-WASPy teen。 Anna K Away was about the same for me as the first: I don’t have a lot of experience with the source material (and I imagine I would appreciate this better if I did), but it’s fun。 There are a tad too many characters for me, but I like this one a bit more since it takes is to fun international locations, especially Seoul。 It’s not gonna blow your mind, but it’s a fun novel in the vein of Gossip Girl。 。。。more

Jenny Lee's Anna K and Anna K: Away are both highly entertaining, silly novels that are my definition of escapism。 By premise alone, neither are books that excite me but then after a few minutes, I am hooked。 I love that Jenny Lee can pull me in even when I am doubtful at the start。 Part of it may be Jenna Ushkowitz' brilliant narration。。。 elevating the sass to the max in a way that draws you in and cringe at the same time。 There is something spectacular about this adaptation that can entertain Jenny Lee's Anna K and Anna K: Away are both highly entertaining, silly novels that are my definition of escapism。 By premise alone, neither are books that excite me but then after a few minutes, I am hooked。 I love that Jenny Lee can pull me in even when I am doubtful at the start。 Part of it may be Jenna Ushkowitz' brilliant narration。。。 elevating the sass to the max in a way that draws you in and cringe at the same time。 There is something spectacular about this adaptation that can entertain those who like the high-drama Anna Karenina (honestly, I would have never used "high-drama" to describe it since I've never read but after Anna K, it is now the only way I can see it) and those that have no interest in the classic whatsoever。 In her sequel, Jenny Lee continues her spectacular cast of characters in their shenanigans。 Full of Crazy Rich Asians and Gossip Girl vibes, it has slightly less plot but much more character and relationship development。 If you need a few hours of total crazy and yet endearing characters living lives that most people can only imagine, this is for you! 。。。more

I hate that I’m saying this。。。 but I did not enjoy this。 The first was fun and felt fresh, and this one was off and I was honestly bored half the time。 This was the book I was reading on a flight and even though there’s not much else to do, I didn’t feel like reading this。 I think the characters thrive when they’re together, and in this book they are scattered about。 The thrills in the first book weren’t present and I didn’t like where the storylines went。。。 and it felt very cheesy。 The dialogue I hate that I’m saying this。。。 but I did not enjoy this。 The first was fun and felt fresh, and this one was off and I was honestly bored half the time。 This was the book I was reading on a flight and even though there’s not much else to do, I didn’t feel like reading this。 I think the characters thrive when they’re together, and in this book they are scattered about。 The thrills in the first book weren’t present and I didn’t like where the storylines went。。。 and it felt very cheesy。 The dialogue and the plot。 Maybe I should have re read the first one before diving into this。 And the ending was way too abrupt。 I’m assuming there will be a third book? 。。。more

3。75 🌟 Fun, frothy follow-up to Anna K— this installment follows Anna and her friends as they head their separate ways for summer。 A great start to my summer reading!

From what I remember of book #1, I liked the sequel even more! Such a great beach read that’s perfect for Gossip Girl fans (especially with the reboot coming up!)。I liked how #2 follows all the characters from the first book as they lead their separate lives (with some overlap, of course), and that the reader is able to see everyone’s story come together at the end。 The “moral of the story” was quite sweet, and I liked seeing how Anna dealt with her grief and to really see her character develop。

Not quite as good as the first but still very entertaining。 I'll keep reading as many of these as Jenny writes! They're fun, and I will always love the pop culture references threaded throughout。 The ending was slightly over-the-top, but I can't even hate on it。 :-P Not quite as good as the first but still very entertaining。 I'll keep reading as many of these as Jenny writes! It was fun getting to spend more time with these characters in their over the top world, but for me this one fell a star short of the original。

My heart is so happy right now。 This sequel was perfect in every way。 Finding out who you are and what you need as a person is incredibly important。 Anna K。‘s journey was intimate as were all the other characters’。 And no it is not easy but you’ll figure it out eventually。 Sometimes you need some help and sometimes you find it when you least expect it。

The first book, Anna K, was one of the best books I’ve read in the last few years。 I recommend it to everyone who asks me what I suggest! This was the sequel and it was nowhere near as good as Anna K but still lots of fun。

I think that comparing to the first book where every scene was very intense drama ( of the gossip kind ) book 2 was dealing more with the aftermath of a very tragic event and that is why I feel like in the beginning and in the middle part of it it had a little bit of a slower pace than I would’ve liked or that drew me in of the first book however the ending was very good I liked it

Nicole

I just really like these characters。

Ana

Cute easy read。 However nowhere near as good as the first book。

Put this one at the top of your Beach Reads list for this summer。 The sequel to Anna K is the same brand of frivolous fun as the original, and this one veers far from anything even remotely tragic, sticking to the lighter stuff that was the best part of the original。 We’re a long way from Anna Karenina now, though I’m not sure that was ever truly the point of reading these。I loved the travel elements of this book, especially Anna’s time in Korea。 She remains far and away the best character in th Put this one at the top of your Beach Reads list for this summer。 The sequel to Anna K is the same brand of frivolous fun as the original, and this one veers far from anything even remotely tragic, sticking to the lighter stuff that was the best part of the original。 We’re a long way from Anna Karenina now, though I’m not sure that was ever truly the point of reading these。I loved the travel elements of this book, especially Anna’s time in Korea。 She remains far and away the best character in the series, so I’m pleased that she remained the central focus of the story for the most part。 I also liked the new Korean characters introduced in this book。Lolly finally got a good plot line (yay!) and the subplots with some of the adults were kind of interesting。 I do wish Bea was allowed to do something other than date。 It’s boring and there could be so much more to her character。Lee’s writing style always takes a little getting used to。 It’s odd for the genre, though I mean that in the best way。 The humor and fun brand shoutouts and name drops are as good here as they were in the first book。 The retelling of a classic theme isn’t really in play anymore, so the series is more like a less nasty and more diverse version of Gossip Girl, which makes it an excellent choice for a fun summer read。*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review。* 。。。more

Didn't love this book as much as the first book, but loved getting to follow up with all the characters。 There was a lot of pop culture references which made it really feel like it was happening right now。 The narrator did well with voices of characters to separate them。 Didn't love this book as much as the first book, but loved getting to follow up with all the characters。 There was a lot of pop culture references which made it really feel like it was happening right now。 The narrator did well with voices of characters to separate them。 。。。more
