'What surprised me was how entirely serene I felt。 I was weightless, no forces exerting themselves on my body。 To my left was the Space Station。 Below me, gradually going into shadow, was the Earth。 And over my right shoulder was the universe。'

In fascinating and personal detail, and drawing on exclusive diaries and audio recordings from his mission, astronaut Tim Peake takes readers closer than ever before to experience what life in space is really like: the sights, the smells, the fear, the sacrifice, the exhilaration and the deep and abiding wonder of the view。

Warm, inspiring and often funny, Tim also charts his surprising road to becoming an astronaut, from a shy and unassuming boy from Chichester who had a passion for flight, to a young British Army officer, Apache helicopter pilot, flight instructor and test pilot who served around the world。 Tim's extensive eighteen-year career in the Army included the command of a platoon of soldiers in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, deployment in Bosnia, and operations in Afghanistan。

Full of life lessons for readers of all ages, Limitless is the story of how ordinary can become extraordinary。

'Tim is one of our nation's good guys - and his story is a testament to his courage, kindness and a never-give-up spirit。' BEAR GRYLLS

'Full of courage, camaraderie and daring escapades, this reads like a Boys' Own adventure' MIRROR

'A fantastic book' PIERS MORGAN

Amazing story。 Grew up near where I live and ended up in space。 Sadly I didn’t!Great read though。

This took me a LONG time to read。 I know it’s an autobiography but it was VERY detailed and I think the book could have been half the size。 However, the last section (Space) was worth waiting for as I knew it would be, although probably the shortest section of the book。 I did learn a lot about helicopters though。

David

An informative, engaging and positive read。

A remarkable man, tells his remarkable story in a remarkable way!Tim Peake just exudes kindness, friendliness and humbleness。 He portrays his story in an easy to follow, enthralling, humorous read。 As a man that has accomplished so much there is no air of arrogance about him - making you feel all the more relatable to him。 This was a thoroughly enjoyable read, and I would recommend this autobiography to anybody with the slightest bit of interest in STEM! The book doesn't really get to the space part for almost 250 pages and up to that point there is a lot of talk about Tim Peake's army career。 Ordinarily I would have put the book down and moved on。 However, this autobiography is so well written that I couldn't put it down。 I'm a bit of a sucker for any sort of biography, but I certainly loved immersing myself in the story of the first UK space walker!Tim Peake comes across as a very level headed, funny, collegial and humble person, someone who b The book doesn't really get to the space part for almost 250 pages and up to that point there is a lot of talk about Tim Peake's army career。 Ordinarily I would have put the book down and moved on。 However, this autobiography is so well written that I couldn't put it down。 I'm a bit of a sucker for any sort of biography, but I certainly loved immersing myself in the story of the first UK space walker!Tim Peake comes across as a very level headed, funny, collegial and humble person, someone who became an accomplished helicopter instructor in the army before taking the plunge to become an ESA astronaut。His retelling of key events in his life, including a 6-month stint on the ISS, is engaging, humorous and very well told。 。。。more

Simply outstanding - warm, funny, awe-inspiring and so interesting。 The sheer range of challenges, adventures and training Tim’s done is so much more than the impressive feat of his being an astronaut- thuu in S is easily in my top 10 of autobiographies now (of maybe 120?) - 💯 recommend。Just fantastic。

I wish I had paid more attention at the time when he went up to the space station - I can just remember some of the hype when he arrived back。 That said, his life makes a great story: someone who really went for it whenever an opportunity showed up and who had an in-built love of the outdoors and adventure。 The technical aspects of helicopter flying are intriguing and the descriptions of hurtling up from the earth in a rocket and living for six months in zero gravity absolutely fascinating。 All I wish I had paid more attention at the time when he went up to the space station - I can just remember some of the hype when he arrived back。 That said, his life makes a great story: someone who really went for it whenever an opportunity showed up and who had an in-built love of the outdoors and adventure。 The technical aspects of helicopter flying are intriguing and the descriptions of hurtling up from the earth in a rocket and living for six months in zero gravity absolutely fascinating。 All told with good humour and gentle modesty。 。。。more

For a man who has been to space British astronaut Tim Peake comes across as a very down to earth and extremely adaptable person。 I really enjoyed the story of his life and personal journey which led him to become an astronaut, as well as his acknowledgement of those who helped and supported him along the way。 A really enjoyable book。

This is an excellent and easy going read。 Throughout his life it seems that Tim has been a quiet achiever。 He didn't excel academically at school, although he did A levels he didn't score highly。 He didn't go on to university。 What he did display was an excitement for life and adventure - an ability to try anything, and a love of flight。 His entire journey from cadets at school, into the Army Air Corp was about flying, and at the pinnacle of his career being a test pilot。 Space, being an astrona This is an excellent and easy going read。 Throughout his life it seems that Tim has been a quiet achiever。 He didn't excel academically at school, although he did A levels he didn't score highly。 He didn't go on to university。 What he did display was an excitement for life and adventure - an ability to try anything, and a love of flight。 His entire journey from cadets at school, into the Army Air Corp was about flying, and at the pinnacle of his career being a test pilot。 Space, being an astronaut had never been the dream。Yet, toward the end of his army career when he had to decide whether a transition to mainly desk work, instead of a focus on flying, was his future。 And a move into civilian life as a test pilot was the plan。 The European Space Agency put the word out - they were looking for astronaut candidates 。I believe Tim never really thought he had a chance。 And yet out of 8,000 something applicants he ended up being 1 of 6 chosen in that intake。 Amazing! And life changing。It seems that if you have the right attitude, take luck and opportunities as they come your way, say 'yes' often and are interested - you can do anything。 Well worth the read。 。。。more

I absolutely loved this book!Tim Peake is such an incredible human being。 I think most who pick up his autobiography do so for learning more about his astronaut career。 But his entire work life is awe-inspiring and worth being told。 Despite all his achievements crowned with becoming an astronaut and flying on board of ISS, Tim describes his life with a lot of humility and kindness。 You can't help but admire him, get inspired and genuinely like him as a person。 And that is probably why he made th I absolutely loved this book!Tim Peake is such an incredible human being。 I think most who pick up his autobiography do so for learning more about his astronaut career。 But his entire work life is awe-inspiring and worth being told。 Despite all his achievements crowned with becoming an astronaut and flying on board of ISS, Tim describes his life with a lot of humility and kindness。 You can't help but admire him, get inspired and genuinely like him as a person。 And that is probably why he made the cut, not undermining his incredible experience and qualifications。 He starts the book by saying he was not one to dream or think that he can become an astronaut and compares himself with the more 'likely to become astronauts' colleagues。 But once you read about his work, you can't say anything other than that he is indeed a high achiever。 I think Tim gave a lot of hope for many young people that are now allowed to dream of becoming astronauts, despite the countries different contributions to ESA's programmes。 And he eloquently shows how far being a decent human being can get you if you put in the work, respect others and appreciate the help and sacrifices of your loved ones。 The book flows, and once it gets to the astronaut application, the pace is even faster, but the storytelling equally beautiful。 A book for everybody, an inspiring story of a truly great man! 。。。more

LimitlessI don’t usually read biographies。 Perhaps I’m jaded from walking past the bargain bin and seeing too many D-list celebrities trying to make a quick buck。 Surely people’s lives aren’t more interesting than the characters and stories within sci-fi or fantasy? That’s probably true for a lot of us, but not so much for Tim Peake and his journey from Cadet to Apache pilot to Astronaut。The only way is upThe narrative starts off slow - an inevitable setting of the scene I suppose, particularly LimitlessI don’t usually read biographies。 Perhaps I’m jaded from walking past the bargain bin and seeing too many D-list celebrities trying to make a quick buck。 Surely people’s lives aren’t more interesting than the characters and stories within sci-fi or fantasy? That’s probably true for a lot of us, but not so much for Tim Peake and his journey from Cadet to Apache pilot to Astronaut。The only way is upThe narrative starts off slow - an inevitable setting of the scene I suppose, particularly as we all know why we’re here。 Space。 Tim even mentions later on his very ‘normal’ and easy childhood。 I was starting to get impatient with all the details about school names and locations when it started to pick up the pace and we’re off on adventures into the wilderness。 My cup of tea。 From there we’re learning about army mishaps, the unbelievable training scenarios he went through, and the amazing things he saw and did all over the globe。 The sheer amount of fascinating anecdotes and insights, not to mention a large helping of military pranks, keep you hooked as Tim starts racking up a very impressive CV。He’s very down to Earth (pun?) in his writing, interjecting with his interesting thoughts on certain events and people。 It all feels frank and real, and I feel his admiration for supporters and mentors – particularly his partner Rebecca who seemed to have endless patience during Tim’s tours。Too perfectMost people have wondered at some point what it takes to become an astronaut。 You can certainly see how each step in his career, every training course or voluntary exercise, built up someone who is perfectly suited to be an astronaut。 Tim does well to point out certain turning points in his career, what became relevant down the line or in retrospect。 In that sense, this book is a great success – most people will pick this up wondering: what life does someone lead to end up in space? One problem I didn’t realise I’d have with this book is the inevitable reflection on my own life and feeling vastly unaccomplished in comparison! This says more about me than the book, but is particularly keen because growing up I had so many of the same interests and upbringing。 However, this is also what kept me so engaged – living through all these experiences through Tim’s recollection。 Though when we do finally get to space, it all seemed over very quickly。If you like Tim Peake, or space, or camping, hiking, helicopters, the military…you’ll very much enjoy this。 If you came here purely for the astronaut details, I’d highly recommend Tim Peake’s other book Ask An Astronaut。 。。。more
