Summary

Bridget Jones, beloved Singleton and global phenomenon, is back--with a bump! This gloriously funny story tells us what happened between The Edge of Reason and Mad About the Boy, revealing how our heroine came to be a mum。

Before motherhood, before marriage, Bridget, with biological clock ticking very, very loudly, finds herself unexpectedly pregnant at the eleventh hour: a joyful time nonetheless dominated by a crucial and terribly awkward question--which of her ex-boyfriends is the father? Mark Darcy: honorable, decent, notable human rights lawyer? Or the incorrigible Daniel Cleaver: charming, witty, notorious ladies' man? In this page-turning tale of baby-deadline panic, maternal bliss, and social, professional, technological, culinary and childbirth chaos, Bridget navigates a pregnancy full of cheesy potatoes, outlandish advice from Smug Mothers, chaos at scans and childbirth classes, high jinks and romance。

Picked this up bc of a conference paper comparing the book with the movie adaptation vis a vis its representation of post and fourth wave feminism and yes this book is super egg 🍳 and very entertaining lol satisfying ending

Weer volop genieten van deze Bridget die me helemaal ontgaan was。

A good read written to coincide with the movie。 Was a shorter read than I had expected especially with 6 months of Bridgets pregnancy excluded from the story。

Just a bunch of silly nonsense。 But it's good to take a break with a book like this from time to time。 Just a bunch of silly nonsense。 But it's good to take a break with a book like this from time to time。 。。。more

This book was laugh out loud funny! I loved it so much! The ending was fabulous! I am super sad that this is the last Bridget Jones book though。

Ist echt ein super tolles Buch für zwischendurch。 Auch wenn ich den ersten Teil nicht kannte, konnte ich gut in die Geschichte einfinden。 Ist ein super Buch für einen kuscheligen Sonntag。

Whilst not quite as good as the original, undoubtedly I will be reading it once again。 The familiarity of Bridget makes you feel like you are reading about a much loved friend。。 or yourself on occasions 🤣 The plot is very familiar to the first, but in my opinion that's fine。 But then I'm a massive Bridget fan and have watched the original movie 6 times back to back when studying (many years ago)。 If you want the feeling of been wrapped in a familiar jumper, its worth a read。 Whilst not quite as good as the original, undoubtedly I will be reading it once again。 The familiarity of Bridget makes you feel like you are reading about a much loved friend。。 or yourself on occasions 🤣 The plot is very familiar to the first, but in my opinion that's fine。 But then I'm a massive Bridget fan and have watched the original movie 6 times back to back when studying (many years ago)。 If you want the feeling of been wrapped in a familiar jumper, its worth a read。 。。。more

Bridget and Darcy broke up because she was drunkenly flirting with Daniel/yet another ridiculous misunderstanding? No。 I'm not doing this again。Bridget is an engaging character but I think she's run her course。 No growth and the plot runs in the same perpetual rut。 Did not finish。 I had hoped after the first for several more books of delighted reading but it's just become filler amd lacks the original fun that made it worthwhile。 It seems to have been columns in some publication which would expla Bridget and Darcy broke up because she was drunkenly flirting with Daniel/yet another ridiculous misunderstanding? No。 I'm not doing this again。Bridget is an engaging character but I think she's run her course。 No growth and the plot runs in the same perpetual rut。 Did not finish。 I had hoped after the first for several more books of delighted reading but it's just become filler amd lacks the original fun that made it worthwhile。 It seems to have been columns in some publication which would explain the run on monotony (quantity over quality)。 How many times can you founder between the same two exes throughout your life? This book was hilarious。 I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard while reading a book。 My only complain is that 200 pages didn't seem enough - while reaching the end, I desperately wanted more。 This book was hilarious。 I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard while reading a book。 My only complain is that 200 pages didn't seem enough - while reaching the end, I desperately wanted more。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book even though I feel like its inadequate, less humour in this one but made me feel at ease while flipping through it because I finished reading it in two days! Also, I can definitely see Emma Thompson as the gynecologist in this one (and she nailed it in the movie!)

Light easy breezy。 Perfect beach read when you don’t want to think

3。5 - cute book

A fun, cute type of read。 Thus book is not serious literature。 However, as it's not intended to be, I found it utterly charming。 In a British sort of way of course。 Cheers A fun, cute type of read。 Thus book is not serious literature。 However, as it's not intended to be, I found it utterly charming。 In a British sort of way of course。 Cheers 。。。more

This is probably my favourite in the Bridget Jones's series, I connect to this book more than the other three in the series I absolutely raced through the audiobook!! This didn’t quite measure up to Diary and Edge Of Reason, but it did take away the nasty taste of the disaster that was Mad About The Boy (also known as The Book That Should Never Have Been Written)。

Bridget Jones is one of my guilty pleasures。 The movies are my go-to comfort watch, and the books are just as fun。 I completely forgot that this book had been sitting on my kindle, and as I was in a bit of a slump, it felt like the perfect cure。 It was strange reading a fourth book in a series that's set before the third, and I do feel a bit like it was written because of the film, and not the other way around as the others had been。 But it was different from the movie in some huge ways which ma Bridget Jones is one of my guilty pleasures。 The movies are my go-to comfort watch, and the books are just as fun。 I completely forgot that this book had been sitting on my kindle, and as I was in a bit of a slump, it felt like the perfect cure。 It was strange reading a fourth book in a series that's set before the third, and I do feel a bit like it was written because of the film, and not the other way around as the others had been。 But it was different from the movie in some huge ways which made it feel like I was reading a new book (and not just a written version of the movie) and this book was laugh out loud funny and heartbreaking at the same time。 。。。more

I was thrown a bit by this being written *after* Mad About The Boy, and read them in order published, not chronological order。 In a way, I'm glad I did, because while all the books have a happy ending, MAtB has a distinctly different tone。 I think the tone shift probably does work chronologically (Young Bridget segueing to older-and-maybe-wiser (?!) Love all Bridget Jones stories! Love the books and the movies! Fun quick read! Loved it even though I already saw the movie!

Brooke Fradd

Cute, if a bit tired。

Amanda Tobias

The best one of the series I would say。

Sophie

A heart-warming little read - very enjoyable and super sweet!

Funnily enough my favorite movie out of the three, and yet I still hated the book。 At some point “Daniel Cleaver” as a plot device just becomes old and there’s really no use in dragging out the Omg Who Is the Father when we already knew how things are turning out。

Elizabeth

A solid Bridget update - I actually laughed out loud more than once

Clara

Funny。 But not the best of the series。
