4。5/5When I saw a female grim reaper, I knew I needed it。 I loved this! The characters were engaging, and I really liked the plot。 This author has such a great way of weavong a story together, and I loved the artwork。

I thought this was a really cool concept。 Certain gifted individuals are granted a chance at death to join in the fight against other-worldly incursions of horrific creatures who want to destroy reality。 Surprisingly, there are a number of light moments in this book, as well。 I liked the character development。 Heck, I liked the characters。 Interesting group。 I am sort of sorry I couldn't find a volume 2。 I thought this was a really cool concept。 Certain gifted individuals are granted a chance at death to join in the fight against other-worldly incursions of horrific creatures who want to destroy reality。 Surprisingly, there are a number of light moments in this book, as well。 I liked the character development。 Heck, I liked the characters。 Interesting group。 I am sort of sorry I couldn't find a volume 2。 。。。more

A super-exciting and fun to read graphic novel/comics about a group of people (Vigil) who are in war with Necromancers。There is plenty of action but also lots of humour to lighten the mood (like Sam commenting on the fact that everyone is taking their shirts off when they are near him)。 So I laughed, but also rooted for the characters。 I am glad that there was so much humour, because I think if this book was all seriousness I would have liked it less。 It also made the characters, especially Bern A super-exciting and fun to read graphic novel/comics about a group of people (Vigil) who are in war with Necromancers。There is plenty of action but also lots of humour to lighten the mood (like Sam commenting on the fact that everyone is taking their shirts off when they are near him)。 So I laughed, but also rooted for the characters。 I am glad that there was so much humour, because I think if this book was all seriousness I would have liked it less。 It also made the characters, especially Bernie a bit more human and less a few thousands year old lady who seems very distant at times。I wasn’t a fan of the necromancers, though most of them were just manipulated idiots。 And really, I was pissed at the reasons why that woman was so gung-ho on getting the scythe。 Really? You could have just thought a bit more but, noooooo。 You only cared about one thing, and look where that brought you?I was definitely shipping Sam and Bernie together, they make quite a couple and was hoping that Bernie would go for it。 Yes, she is a few thousands of years old and Sam isn’t as old as that, but they were so cute together。 I loved how they were always there for each other no matter the situation。For a long time I thought that our Vigil was the only one around, but we find out that there are other Vigils as well and now I want to go to them。I loved our girl, Clara。 I loved seeing her get used to life as a dead girl, I loved her “weapon” and seeing her figure out what it was (her memory is a bit fuzzy) and see her use it to the full potential。 She was such a great character and while I feel sad she died due to a dick boyfriend, I guess it is also good she did because she finally found a family, people who care about her and who love her。 Haha, I do hope this doesn’t sound too terrible。The battle near the end WOW WOW WOW。 That was just one rollercoaster of awesomeness and I was already stuck in the book… well now I was even more。 There is a ton of things happening, monsters popping up, monsters being eaten, battle plans brought to action, and so much more。 And just when you thought things were over, haha, BOOM, betrayal and more battle。 Holy crap! The art, fantastic! Love it! Then again, Stjepan Šejić is one of my favourite artists。 Sunstone was just as gorgeous as this one。 I love how the artist is able to show emotions and does a great job with facial expressions。sAll in all, I now need the second volume。 I need more!Review first posted at https://twirlingbookprincess。com/ 。。。more

RÚžasné hororové fantasy。 Šejić dosť pomrkáva na Lovecrafta, čož je úžasné。 Na to, že končí otvorene, tak to je tiež fajn jednohubka。 Šejíćova kresba je proste úžasná。 4,5*

So, I’ve long adored Sejic’s other works especially ‘Sunstone’ (if you haven’t read them。。。go read them now!!) and started following him on Facebook etc。 It’s there that I became aware of ‘Death Vigil’。I picked it up immediately and DEVOURED it! It’s superb! It has all the fantastic characterisation that I’ve learned to love in his work, and each character is distinctive and lovable in their own way。 For a bunch of demon and necromancer hunters, each is relatable。 Each has very human problems, ev So, I’ve long adored Sejic’s other works especially ‘Sunstone’ (if you haven’t read them。。。go read them now!!) and started following him on Facebook etc。 It’s there that I became aware of ‘Death Vigil’。I picked it up immediately and DEVOURED it! Where ‘Sunstone’ got to explore Sejic’s creative streak in its fetish setting, ‘Death Vigil’ flexes those same beautiful creative muscles in a very different way。 Love this book! Buy it NOW!!I cannot WAIT for Vol 2!!! ❤️ 。。。more

While I always love the art, I found this rather disjointed and confusing。 There are quite a few characters, and Mr Šejić tends to make his women look very similar。 Plus with hair changing colour and people turning into demons all the time, I was just a bit lost at some points。 I didn't really bond with any of the characters either, although everyone was pretty cool。 I'll try Vol 2 when it comes out though。 While I always love the art, I found this rather disjointed and confusing。 There are quite a few characters, and Mr Šejić tends to make his women look very similar。 Plus with hair changing colour and people turning into demons all the time, I was just a bit lost at some points。 I didn't really bond with any of the characters either, although everyone was pretty cool。 I'll try Vol 2 when it comes out though。 。。。more

Death Vigil is beautiful。 The artwork is *chefs kiss* gorgeous。 I could go on and on about every tiny little detail that was drawn, but let me just say。。。 THOSE MONSTERS ARE STUNNING! The story starts off with a brief introduction of Sam meeting Bernadette and how his life has changed。 He kicks Necromancer butt and slays grotesque creatures。 Sam and Bernie are still the main characters, however Clara is soon introduced and the focus changes to her learning about her veilripper。 The story grows a Death Vigil is beautiful。 The artwork is *chefs kiss* gorgeous。 I could go on and on about every tiny little detail that was drawn, but let me just say。。。 THOSE MONSTERS ARE STUNNING! I also couldn't help but love Chiyoko, Vlado and Marlene too。 I'll probably end up buying all the volumes in the near future。 。。。more

Beautiful artwork, a badass leading lady, and a storyline that will have me checking out the sequel novels。

I can not recommend this graphic novel enough for both the writing and art。 Both are individually beautiful and are married together in a magnificent graphic novel。

As always, beautiful art。 The story / pacing is a bit unbalanced in the beginning - a lot of info dumping, and the layout occasionally gets a bit muddled - but I really enjoyed the characters and the ideas driving the story。 It's a shame it was cancelled, because I would have loved to discover where Sejic took this next。 As always, beautiful art。 The story / pacing is a bit unbalanced in the beginning - a lot of info dumping, and the layout occasionally gets a bit muddled - but I really enjoyed the characters and the ideas driving the story。 It's a shame it was cancelled, because I would have loved to discover where Sejic took this next。 。。。more

Don’t let the cover and the title fool you, this is fucking hilarious! ”I was brought back by the Grim Reaper, who is a very nice lady。 I joined her group of immortal warriors and am now fighting interdimensional monsters and the people who control them。” Not only an amazing artist, Stjepan Šejić is a brilliant writer。 The way he develops characters, relationships, dynamics, themes… oh, the thing of beauty! It took all of one chapter to know and care for these characters。 Doesn’t hurt that it contains my favourite trope of all time – found family。 Picture this: X-Men, but they’re dead。 Led not by a mysterious professor, but a dorky Grim Reaper mom。 “We can always count on her。 We only need to call, and she’ll be there for us。” Funny, heartwarming and thrilling。 *wipes tears* I loved it。 I loved it so damn much! Great artwork, storyline not my jamThe Sejic's deliver on the graphic artistry every time。 However, I couldn't relate much to either the heroes or antiheroes (vigils vs necromancers) so the plot didn't keep me that gripped。 I could put the book down too easily。 But not a bad read。 One thumb up。 Great artwork, storyline not my jamThe Sejic's deliver on the graphic artistry every time。 However, I couldn't relate much to either the heroes or antiheroes (vigils vs necromancers) so the plot didn't keep me that gripped。 I could put the book down too easily。 But not a bad read。 One thumb up。 。。。more

This was just an okay graphic novel。 I picked up because I love Stjepan Šejić's illustrations and generally love his story-telling too, but I just couldn't connect with any of the characters here or care for the plot。 It was a lot of action, which isn't my thing。 I like more character-driven stories or ones that make you think, not ones that are basically just about a literal war between good and evil。 This was just an okay graphic novel。 I picked up because I love Stjepan Šejić's illustrations and generally love his story-telling too, but I just couldn't connect with any of the characters here or care for the plot。 It was a lot of action, which isn't my thing。 I like more character-driven stories or ones that make you think, not ones that are basically just about a literal war between good and evil。 。。。more

actual rating: 3。5I think this writer has a lot of good ideas but also has trouble executing them in a way that 。。。makes sense and has good pacing I guess。 This was definitely better than Blood Stain at any rate。 I like the premise but I never really got a good handle on what the rules of the world were and it seemed like they were just changed whenever the characters needed to do something they shouldn't be able to anyway。 The characters were really what sold this to me。 Bernadette is amazing a actual rating: 3。5I think this writer has a lot of good ideas but also has trouble executing them in a way that 。。。makes sense and has good pacing I guess。 This was definitely better than Blood Stain at any rate。 I like the premise but I never really got a good handle on what the rules of the world were and it seemed like they were just changed whenever the characters needed to do something they shouldn't be able to anyway。 The characters were really what sold this to me。 Bernadette is amazing and I liked the other main characters as well and how they interact with each other, but the overly complicated plot really dragged this down for me。 。。。more

Amusing and creepy at the same time。 While it’s still no Sunstone, I enjoyed this delve into reapers and monsters。 Some of the exposition was a bit too wordy for me, especially as a digital copy (gotta zoom in!), but gorgeously illustrated with fun characters, who, unfortunately didn’t have as much time to shine。Next, or did this series get a chop? With that cliffhanger??
