I hate infodump, and this book is no exception, but the characters feel fully realized and the art here is such a wonder that I found myself totally enthralled。 Every page is a treasure of artistic detail and every character has an incredible and beautiful design。

If you're on the wavelength of this off-the-wall story of a gradstudent/barista who gets pulled into a bonkers, multi-planar world with angels and demons and everything in between as she discovers she is one of the most powerful beings in the universe。。。then you're going to love this。 If this all feels a bit like 10lbs of story stuffed into a 5 lb bag, then it's going to be a hard read。 Either way, Tom Parkinson-Morgan gets huge credit for publishing this ambitious effort on his own。 But through If you're on the wavelength of this off-the-wall story of a gradstudent/barista who gets pulled into a bonkers, multi-planar world with angels and demons and everything in between as she discovers she is one of the most powerful beings in the universe。。。then you're going to love this。 If this all feels a bit like 10lbs of story stuffed into a 5 lb bag, then it's going to be a hard read。 Either way, Tom Parkinson-Morgan gets huge credit for publishing this ambitious effort on his own。 But throughout all three volumes, one can't help but thing how much better this might have been if he had some help along the way。 。。。more

Adam,
The first book of one of my favourite series of all time。 Ridiculously original fantasy, with an all-female cast of protagonists, funny and irreverent but with surprising emotional depth and meaning。 The art of the first book is good, but a bit overly stylised compared to later entries; feels a bit like the author is trying to be something he isn't。 The art finds itself in later books though, hence only giving this one 4 stars。 The first book of one of my favourite series of all time。 Ridiculously original fantasy, with an all-female cast of protagonists, funny and irreverent but with surprising emotional depth and meaning。 The art of the first book is good, but a bit overly stylised compared to later entries; feels a bit like the author is trying to be something he isn't。 The art finds itself in later books though, hence only giving this one 4 stars。 。。。more

Brice Culhane,
Holy info dump- I will be honest I barely understand what happened。 It was just too busy world building with almost zero character development。 I bought the other two novels so I will read them but I was not a fan。
Audrey,
It was a little too overwhelming and unfocused, but it was intriguing, and metal as hell。

I don't have much of a review of this until I read it again as its the most bonkers thing I've read since The Invisibles, but I will probably read it again。 Maybe。 Probably。 I don't have much of a review of this until I read it again as its the most bonkers thing I've read since The Invisibles, but I will probably read it again。 Maybe。 Probably。 。。。more

Yeow。 That was a trip。 This first volume felt like a really insane, massive world building exercise。 Every time I thought I was beginning to understand the general gist of it all, something new was thrown in。 The weird thing is, I liked feeling mostly confused, because at this point in the story the main character is completely out of her element and is just along for the ride。 I'm excited to dive into the second volume。 Yeow。 That was a trip。 This first volume felt like a really insane, massive world building exercise。 Every time I thought I was beginning to understand the general gist of it all, something new was thrown in。 The weird thing is, I liked feeling mostly confused, because at this point in the story the main character is completely out of her element and is just along for the ride。 I'm excited to dive into the second volume。 。。。more

Nope。100 pages of lore dump which I never got into, to set up a complete tonal shift in the last four pages to be some kind of demon hunting Scott Pilgrim thing maybe? I will never know what this becomes, because I will never read more of this。The structure was also weird: the main character is the macguffin that all the secondary narrator characters pass around so they can deliver their dumps。The art was okay, but grating after awhile。 If it is your thing, maybe it could get you through these 9 Nope。100 pages of lore dump which I never got into, to set up a complete tonal shift in the last four pages to be some kind of demon hunting Scott Pilgrim thing maybe? Beautiful but so busy I can't work out what's going on。 Might still read the next book, as the lack of agency of the protagonist looks to be resolved。 Beautiful but so busy I can't work out what's going on。 Might still read the next book, as the lack of agency of the protagonist looks to be resolved。 。。。more

It seems like a lot of people have picked this up in book form and are frustrated that it's a bit of a slow starter。 This is a completely free webcomic of quality I've never seen before, it's definitely made for the website first and print second。It is a very slow burn to begin with but is in my top 5 fantasy worlds for sure aesthetic beauty not to mention the *very admirable lore passages that compliment almost every art page and are just as much part of the story as the pictures*。Again this co It seems like a lot of people have picked this up in book form and are frustrated that it's a bit of a slow starter。 This is a completely free webcomic of quality I've never seen before, it's definitely made for the website first and print second。It is a very slow burn to begin with but is in my top 5 fantasy worlds for sure aesthetic beauty not to mention the *very admirable lore passages that compliment almost every art page and are just as much part of the story as the pictures*。Again this comes across much better on the webpage。 Interesting plot that subverts expectations- honestly I almost didn't read this because I didn't like the starting ten pages which were sexual and had the possibility of going very badly in terms of consent and poorly thought out femme characters so popular in the comic genre。 To my surprise the story quickly embraced and dealt well with central themes of empowerment gender identity, queer relationships and emotional growth (in a cosmological melting pot of flawed demons golems and celestial beings no less!) Etc。 It also manages to do this without turning into a soapie, it's is epic and violent and disgusting! 😁Very impressed。Magnificent, incredibly deep world with its own crazy surreal rules but very good internal consistency。Dizzying detail and unique art。 。。。more

Amazing art, but a mediocre to non-existent story (at least so far) presumably there is more of one in later volumes。

First off: it's an amazing comic。 You should definitely check it out online, it's available for free。 The world building and mythology gets a solid 5/5, and the art is amazing。 But I strive to be honest on these reviews: I almost gave this 3 stars, because it's a really dense read。 I did gulf down the whole Vol。 1 on one long reading session when I first began reading, but it kind of exhausted me, and I found myself not continuing after doing one more reading session going a few chapters into Vo First off: it's an amazing comic。 You should definitely check it out online, it's available for free。 The world building and mythology gets a solid 5/5, and the art is amazing。 But I strive to be honest on these reviews: I almost gave this 3 stars, because it's a really dense read。 I did gulf down the whole Vol。 1 on one long reading session when I first began reading, but it kind of exhausted me, and I found myself not continuing after doing one more reading session going a few chapters into Vol。 2 the next night。 Marathooning something this lore-heavy for two nights。。。 is really tiring。 And while getting obsessed with this does mean I found it very interesting, I can't say I was constantly enjoying the obsession。 I did get bored a couple of times in the first volume。 A lot of exposition is dumped on you。 It's only natural, since there's a lot you need to know about the different deities, factions, places, creatures etc。 But it's still a lot to take in。 So pace yourself。I just finished my second complete read-through last night, and the second read-through was a rewarding one。 This time putting less emphasis on some things that I did remember well and more on things like the lore dumps between chapters (texts of the multiverse this all takes place in), some of which I remember skipping on first read-through。 And I'm so glad I did - I really, really enjoyed some of them, and thanks to it noticed some interesting details of the story/characters/world that I totally missed the first time。 It was great。I think besides the lore, my uncertainty on how much I like the Vol。 1。 also boils down to the characters。。。 Allison starts off as a nervous wreck (not a spoiler, you can see it from the very first panel), and the supporting cast we don't really get to know very well until Volume 2。 It's not a bad choice to leave something for later, especially since there's plenty of exposition to get out of the way first。。。 but until Allison starts showing signs of growth in the end of Vol。 1, I felt a little lost in this world, mostly looking at it through the eyes of someone severely out of their depth。All in all: I'm very excited to continue and lucky to have a friend who keeps mentioning this comic, constantly reminding me that I need to read up to date so we can talk about it。 : ) 。。。more

Hard to follow。 Almost too ambitious in its scale。 The only thing that beats an angel is another angel。 Maybe the next one will be better now that the protagnist knows what is going on。

Having read the first three volumes, I'm intrigued by the story and really love the detailed art。 I think it can get long-winded with the exposition but I'm interested to see where it goes。 Having read the first three volumes, I'm intrigued by the story and really love the detailed art。 I think it can get long-winded with the exposition but I'm interested to see where it goes。 。。。more
