Summary

Before WICKED was formed, before the Glade was built, before Thomas entered the Maze, sun flares hit the earth and mankind fell to disease。

Mark and Trina were there when it happened, and they survived。 But surviving the sun flares was easy compared to what came next。 Now a disease of rage and lunacy races across the eastern United States, and there’s something suspicious about its origin。 Worse yet, it’s mutating, and all evidence suggests that it will bring humanity to its knees。

Mark and Trina are convinced there’s a way to save those left living from descending into madness。 And they’re determined to find it—if they can stay alive。 Because in this new, devastated world, every life has a price。 And to some, you’re worth more dead than alive。

It's was a bit too action back for me and they missed a critical opportunity to link DeeDee's characters to the first 3 books。 It's was a bit too action back for me and they missed a critical opportunity to link DeeDee's characters to the first 3 books。 。。。more

I liked this book because it added a lot of details to the original 3 books。

OK so I don't have the other books but this was a nice book except the ending because almost all good people die。 Though it was a fine book。 OK so I don't have the other books but this was a nice book except the ending because almost all good people die。 Though it was a fine book。 。。。more

You’d think there’s a purpose behind him showing us all that’s happened before, how it started etc。 but what I can make of this is that there’s a special child and they’ve spent their entire time on her, going back and forth, itching their curiosity, being found out, taken prisoner, escaping & running, going back to rescue and on and on it goes。 So many action that would probably make for a good movie but the revelations were so predictable, most of them I had made out from the first three books so nothing new there。 Trying to wipe out half the population because of resource scarcity on a planet which battled it’s worst climate crisis but was on the way to slowly recovering; people who are weary, hungry and weak but sane all the while, and releasing a half-finished virus and bringing the world into further chaos makes for a really shitty explanation of the plot。 I mean let them be and they’d die on their own or even fight and find other means to survive。 Now that they’ve reached a really grave situation they had to find the cure for the virus and hence the immune kids comes into play。 Isn’t that just ughhhh! I was tolerant throughout the book in the hope that somehow it’ll take us back to Thomas and his friends and perhaps something mind blowing while he’s at it。 But no that never happened。 Instead we get a subtle revelation of who the kid might be in the future。 But tbh, everyone would’ve already figured that out halfway through the book。 It’s just that obvious。 If the fifth book doesn’t give me some clarity oh then I would have wasted so much of my time for nothing。 。。。more

2。5 ⭐This story was okay, personally it wasn't a story I wanted or needed。If I was going to get a prequel I would want one set around the maze runner characters so we could see some of the favourites again and learn about how the glade/maze came about and learn how everyone involved became involved。This story whilst not being too bad gave us totally unknown characters when the world was being destroyed, it just felt jarring as it was essentially not connected to the original story apart from a r 2。5 ⭐This story was okay, personally it wasn't a story I wanted or needed。If I was going to get a prequel I would want one set around the maze runner characters so we could see some of the favourites again and learn about how the glade/maze came about and learn how everyone involved became involved。This story whilst not being too bad gave us totally unknown characters when the world was being destroyed, it just felt jarring as it was essentially not connected to the original story apart from a random prologue and epilogue which didn't fit with the rest of the story and was clearly just put in to link the book to the rest。It wasn't awful but I wouldn't read it again, I was a bit disappointed 。。。more

This book was alright。It made me like a character I hate and I'm not okay with that。The writing was still terrible and the plot was all over the place, but it was alright I guess。I wouldn't read it again。 This book was alright。It made me like a character I hate and I'm not okay with that。The writing was still terrible and the plot was all over the place, but it was alright I guess。I wouldn't read it again。 。。。more

This was the best book of the series so far。 It really cleared up why they where in the maze and pretty much everything else that i questioned。 This book really revealed a lot more than what i first thought it would。 I defiantly would recommend this to the people who have read the first books。

Gaia

muy atrapante, esta buenísimo y explica muy bien todo lo que paso con la llamarada。 el final abierto es>>

I enjoyed this book the most out of the entire series。 The saddest of the books in my opinion。

Okaaaaayso Teresa is Deedee。Wow, nicemy respect for her just gone up。This is a pretty well-written add-on in my opinion。Very bloody, but pretty great。 I'm glad that this wasn't made into a movie。 It would be way too scary。It started making sense later on, in the last 50 or so pages, so make sure you read that far。 Okaaaaayso Teresa is Deedee。Wow, nicemy respect for her just gone up。This is a pretty well-written add-on in my opinion。Very bloody, but pretty great。 I'm glad that this wasn't made into a movie。 It would be way too scary。It started making sense later on, in the last 50 or so pages, so make sure you read that far。 。。。more

This was a great read。 Normally I'm not a fan of prequels and after the disappointment of Fever Code, I wasn't expecting much。 However this was much more enjoyable! The story chronicles what happened after the sun flares and follows a small group of survivors as they navigate the new world and the outbreak of the man made virus The Flare。 The concept behind the virus is chilling and shows how dangerous corrupt governments can be。I liked the fast paced narrative, the slow descent into insanity and This was a great read。 Normally I'm not a fan of prequels and after the disappointment of Fever Code, I wasn't expecting much。 However this was much more enjoyable! The story chronicles what happened after the sun flares and follows a small group of survivors as they navigate the new world and the outbreak of the man made virus The Flare。 The concept behind the virus is chilling and shows how dangerous corrupt governments can be。I liked the fast paced narrative, the slow descent into insanity and the depiction of friendship。 I liked how it linked to the original series too。 。。。more

This book is Titanic all over again (not really)。 It was pretty great though。 We will not talk about the ending。 I also loved the extra Teresa file thing they had。 This book explained the flare and expanded on the Maze Runner world。 Overall, I really liked it。

not as interesting as i hoped it would be。 felt like it was being dragged on with no where to go。 some parts were good but overall just felt kind of boring。 i did like some of the characters, but mark and trinas relationship had no development and seemed unnatural

Idk, maybe I was too young when I tried reading it or smth, but I just couldn't connect with the characters or the story so I eventually gave up reading it :'D Not sure how much I did read, maybe half of it? Could be less。The writing style wasn't bad though and the idea was good so it was probably just personal preference Idk, maybe I was too young when I tried reading it or smth, but I just couldn't connect with the characters or the story so I eventually gave up reading it :'D Not sure how much I did read, maybe half of it? I don’t know how the prequel was the best one but I wish I’d just read this one

I will start by saying, I think this can be read as a stand alone。 It would spoil things from the initial Maze Runner trilogy, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone story。 It would come off as having an incomplete ending, but it can be done。 It feels complete as a prequel, read in order as book 4, because at that point the reader already knows everything else。It wasn't great。 The first half of the book was slow。 I was only going to give it a two, but the second half of the book was sign I will start by saying, I think this can be read as a stand alone。 It would spoil things from the initial Maze Runner trilogy, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone story。 It would come off as having an incomplete ending, but it can be done。 It feels complete as a prequel, read in order as book 4, because at that point the reader already knows everything else。It wasn't great。 The first half of the book was slow。 I was only going to give it a two, but the second half of the book was significantly better。I read Crank Palace before this, since it was supposed to take place during part of The Death Cure。 The Kill Order felt a lot like Crank Palace。The swipe data section in the back wasn't what I was expecting。 I thought it was going to be a report of some kind, like what the other Maze Runner books had at the end of each volume。 Instead, it seemed like an extension of the epilogue, which seemed odd, because they didn't even have the swipe at the time shown in that section。 。。。more

I definitely enjoyed reading this book, the start was hard to get into because there was a whole new set of characters and I was so attached to the original characters from the maze runner。 I really loved seeing how the flare started and getting a different insight to it。

I finished this in early May but forgot to update it! It is one of the prequels to the trilogy i just read, and I enjoyed it。 It told the story of how the problem(not saying bc spoilers) originated。 Also answered some questions from the trilogy that I was wondering about。 Currently reading the other prequel(takes place after this one, before trilogy) and I like it so far。

I’m not tearing up you are。 The ending is so bitter sweet it’s awful。 I haven’t read the “Top-Secret swipe data Group A subject: Teresa” part yet though。 Honestly this book was just written really well, it feels like your watching a marvel movie but dystopian。 But it loses a star because the ending was disappointing, not because it was sad but because it didn’t give info that you would think it should by the end, it felt incomplete for how long it is。
