Great recipes。 My problem with it is the color paper and wild fonts, making it challenging to read, especially as you are leaning over cooking。 For that reason I likely won't use it much。 Great recipes。 My problem with it is the color paper and wild fonts, making it challenging to read, especially as you are leaning over cooking。 For that reason I likely won't use it much。 。。。more
Jodi Geever,
There’s a lot on offer here。 Too much reliance on cashew cream and other nuts。
Apryl Wassaykeesic,
I rate Isa Chodron Moskowitz’s books highly because they are generally great resources for the beginning vegan。 Her recipes generally aren’t too demanding or fussy and her style is very down to earth and approachable。
Elly Roberts,
Slightly confused at all of the conversations stating this is great for beginners。 I personally don’t have most of these ingredients very accessible to me。。。 2 tablespoons of liquid smoke? Sorry? The ones I have tried are delicious but it is not the cookbook for easy vegan cooking。 Nor cheap。
Rachel,
Looked through it and only found one or maybe two recipes I really felt like making。 I think right now, although I do really want to be more plant based than I am currently, I might have to start with vegetarian and vegetable focused books, instead of vegan。 Baby steps, you know? It's often quite hard to find recipes that appeal to me in vegan books。 Maybe one day, we'll see。 Looked through it and only found one or maybe two recipes I really felt like making。 I think right now, although I do really want to be more plant based than I am currently, I might have to start with vegetarian and vegetable focused books, instead of vegan。 Baby steps, you know? AnnMarie,
These recipes are super flavorful! I found some recipes were missing directions such as not draining the water from tofu before cooking it。 Other recipes added a ton of sugar! I cut down on the sugar and made modifications based on my own knowledge。 The fonts and font colors make some of the recipes hard to read, as well。 But this book is absolutely filled with recipes so if you’re going to buy a vegan cookbook you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck。
Christian,
I'm usually not a fan of "easy" recipes because that almost always means "unseasoned" (looking at you, MinimalistBakerTastyNewYorkTimes)。 However, this book is exactly what the title says: easy, wildly delicious, and。。。。vegan。。。。This book is for chefs new and experienced, palates of all sort, and adventurers from all walks of life! I really like this book especially in the winter, aka, stew season。 This book is full of comfort food that creatively incorporates whole foods and vegetables。 Some wo I'm usually not a fan of "easy" recipes because that almost always means "unseasoned" (looking at you, MinimalistBakerTastyNewYorkTimes)。 However, this book is exactly what the title says: easy, wildly delicious, and。。。。vegan。。。。This book is for chefs new and experienced, palates of all sort, and adventurers from all walks of life! DBN,
I bought this recipe book as my pandemic go-to and dang girl, everything is so yummy。 I have made 10 recipes now and each was delicious。 The cashew creams are so easy。 The best part is that Isa's recipes never skimp on the yummy and most of the sauces I eat the next day with lunch。 A kitchen keeper, for shizzle。 I recommend this cookbook to new vegans。 I bought this recipe book as my pandemic go-to and dang girl, everything is so yummy。 I have made 10 recipes now and each was delicious。 The cashew creams are so easy。 The best part is that Isa's recipes never skimp on the yummy and most of the sauces I eat the next day with lunch。 A kitchen keeper, for shizzle。 I recommend this cookbook to new vegans。 。。。more

One of my favorite cookbooks! These aren't necessarily the quick recipes for everyday for me, but they are the recipes that makes my husband and I do a happy dance for。 Isa never fails to impress。 One of my favorite cookbooks! Tanner,
Sigh。 This is good as a brainstorming book for plant-based meals, but it's technically deficient and remarkably tone-deaf。 There's a passage where Moskowitz head on addressed that many of her recipes are "inspired" by other cultures while being deeply inauthentic。 She handwaves away claims of appropriation and says that she can't do anything but cook from her own experience, and her own experience is that of a Jewish American woman。 That is 100% not enough。 Making substitutions to make things ve Sigh。 This is good as a brainstorming book for plant-based meals, but it's technically deficient and remarkably tone-deaf。 There's a passage where Moskowitz head on addressed that many of her recipes are "inspired" by other cultures while being deeply inauthentic。 She handwaves away claims of appropriation and says that she can't do anything but cook from her own experience, and her own experience is that of a Jewish American woman。 That is 100% not enough。 Making substitutions to make things vegan is one thing, but being loosey-goosey with flavors just so you can bulk up your cookbook with Applebee's level insulting fusion recipes is another。 If you're drawing from other cultures you should respect them enough to get them right, and if not make space for other food voices。I also cooked several things from this book and found them disappointing at best。 One lentil recipe recommended sauteing onions 3 minutes until golden brown。 If that's your recipe, the cookbook better come with a TARDIS。 I don't like poorly tested recipes, and I particularly don't like cookbooks that futz with times so their recipes will seem doable for busy cooks but will produce disappointing results。 The borscht was also disappointingly starchy (because, again to save time, Moskowitz recommends cooking potatoes in the soup liquid)。 And that's even from her own culture!I'm keeping the book as a brainstorming, recipe finding tool, but I wouldn't trust a single thing in here to be authentic or to come out right as written。 。。。more
Katherine,
Many delicious recipes for all meals。 Beginner friendly。 Omni-friendly。 Doesn't require much kitchen hardware (I think a blender and a good knife are the main tools you need for her recipes)。 Accessible ingredients。 I do halve the thyme though because I think Isa likes that herb way more than I do 😂。 Great book。 I use it all the time and have shared multiple recipes with friends and family with unanimous approval! Easily my favorite vegan cookbook。 The recipes are delicious, the photos are gorgeous and the writing is delightful, peppered with Isa’s cute sense of humor。 Hail to the post punk vegan queen!

Very useful cookbook。 More importantly, I had a lot of fun using/reading it。

I don't even care about eating vegan but I want to make every single thing in this book! And I am going to! I couldn't stop reading this -- a cookbook! She makes it so conversational and personal! So, I haven't technically read every page but between my wife and me, we have probably made twenty of the recipes already and we love this recipe book。 We're vegetarians, not vegans, but everything is so delicious。 It also adds new flavors and textures to our regular weekly menu。 Highly recommend! Monica Petruskavich,
I ventured out in trying yet another vegan cookbook to see if this would inspire me to make more of an effort to eat differently。 I have read several cookbooks that promise to be for the everyday cook or family with simple everyday ingredients。 This is the point where I quickly understand that my definition of simple and everyday is not the same as the authors。This was not the case with this one。 I adored the book the moment I began reading her take on cuisine and ingredients。 The recipes are ea I ventured out in trying yet another vegan cookbook to see if this would inspire me to make more of an effort to eat differently。 I have read several cookbooks that promise to be for the everyday cook or family with simple everyday ingredients。 This is the point where I quickly understand that my definition of simple and everyday is not the same as the authors。This was not the case with this one。 I adored the book the moment I began reading her take on cuisine and ingredients。 The recipes are easy to follow, ingredients totally doable and in the end I am not left feeling like I risked the children's college tuition for a weekday meal。 I have to admit that cover of the cookbook also sold me on this one。 The image made me feel like I was not going to be intimidated by special lighting, hard to find ingredients that would have me driving all over the city and then breaking down and ordering from some place online, nor the culinary skills that a professionally trained chef has spent years honing but I am to learn by simply turning a recipe page。 I was not mistaken and this is one of the few cookbooks that actually had myself and my daughters cooking together, eager to try something different but not to different for my picky 11 year old daughter。This cookbook is a must whether you are a vegan or wanting to try something different。 I am happy to say that buying it and actually using the recipes also still allows my children to attend college。 Great investment for both the contents but also for yourself and your family。 。。。more

OK, I don't claim to read the receipt book in its entirety, but read sufficient friction and cooked enough recepies to have an opinion and to recommended。The recepies are easy to follow, written with wit and sufficient amount of them you can conjure up without special shopping (if you are into this kind of kitchen, that is)。 The only challenge for me as the Europe reader is the use of imperial units, but then, I got what I bought。 OK, I don't claim to read the receipt book in its entirety, but read sufficient friction and cooked enough recepies to have an opinion and to recommended。The recepies are easy to follow, written with wit and sufficient amount of them you can conjure up without special shopping (if you are into this kind of kitchen, that is)。 The only challenge for me as the Europe reader is the use of imperial units, but then, I got what I bought。 。。。more

My favorite cookbook。 Only had a few recipes fall flat, and that's most likely due to user error。 (I have never been able to make homemade gnocchi, no matter how many times I try)。 I baked the steamed seitan recipes, and they turned out great - just a little denser and dry than the steamed versions。There's not a lot of "weird" ingredients, and the ones that are there are in so many of the recipes it's worth going out of my way to purchase them。 I recently made the Rosemary Chocolate Chip cookies My favorite cookbook。 Only had a few recipes fall flat, and that's most likely due to user error。 (I have never been able to make homemade gnocchi, no matter how many times I try)。 I baked the steamed seitan recipes, and they turned out great - just a little denser and dry than the steamed versions。There's not a lot of "weird" ingredients, and the ones that are there are in so many of the recipes it's worth going out of my way to purchase them。 I recently made the Rosemary Chocolate Chip cookies for a potluck and they were gone by the end of the evening。I also appreciate the section in the front discussing substitutions for common ingredients。 Fairly simple recipes and recipes lists that aren't overwhelming and terrifying。 。。。more

There are so many great recipies in here that I'm dying to try。 I love the variety of sti-fry dishes, pasta, and bowl meals。 There are plenty of flavors to experiment with from savory to spicy and everything in between。 The ingredients aren't too hard to find, especially if you're experienced with vegan fare。 Reading the headers to the recipes was informative and entertaining, as I adore Isa's spunky personality, which shines in her writing as much as it does in her recipes。 There are so many great recipies in here that I'm dying to try。 I love the variety of sti-fry dishes, pasta, and bowl meals。 There are plenty of flavors to experiment with from savory to spicy and everything in between。 The ingredients aren't too hard to find, especially if you're experienced with vegan fare。 Reading the headers to the recipes was informative and entertaining, as I adore Isa's spunky personality, which shines in her writing as much as it does in her recipes。 。。。more

This is hands down my number 1 cookbook。 I am a chef and own way way too many cookbooks and this is the one I reach for most often。 It is food stained, written all over with personal notes and falling apart and I wouldn’t part with it。 It isn’t my most inspirational, that changes depending on my current food loves, but it is definitely my most reliable and used。 I have bought multiple copies as gifts as I think it’s the best starter vegan book。 Also as someone who lives outside the US -THANK YOU This is hands down my number 1 cookbook。 I am a chef and own way way too many cookbooks and this is the one I reach for most often。 It is food stained, written all over with personal notes and falling apart and I wouldn’t part with it。 It isn’t my most inspirational, that changes depending on my current food loves, but it is definitely my most reliable and used。 I have bought multiple copies as gifts as I think it’s the best starter vegan book。 Also as someone who lives outside the US -THANK YOU for using widely available basic ingredients, instead of expensive US local vegan replacements。 I mean i can buy tofutti cream cheese here but it costs $13 tub so when a recipe calls for 3 tubs well that is not happening!
